but I'm still doing frequent saves just in case. I read somewhere that there is a tool you can recuperate the Photoshop scratch file with from disk, up till the last operation. I don't have PS crashes since I'm on a PC ( ) but frequent power brownouts in a remote area.

What lens would you recomend for an all around lens? The one that mainly is all attached to that camera for all those on the spot candid shots. 18-125 sigma : I did all my landscape/architecture/model shots with it till July 2009.

If you're wondering which lenses, I'd put the 85mm F/1.8 and the older 50mm F/1.4 or F/1.8 on the list of must haves. You must have missed the post of Patrick here some days ago. We did a test of the Nikon 50 and the equivalent Sigma a couple of years ago, and the Sigma, although cheaper, was much better (sharper) in studio light. Those were controlled conditions: same image, same lightboxes, cam (D200) on tripod. The difference was very visible.

reselling the image. He is only offering it for download to other people. He is allowing downloads = redistribution. All agents exclude redistribution (free or for sale) from their RF license. Of course it won't help much but the alternative, doing nothing, is worse. We should support each other in these cases, especially since it only take a few clicks. If it would entail raising a Crusader army, walk to their offices and besiege them for 3 years, it should given some thoughts first.

oh, gee,... is that the editor from the demised Zymmetrical sitting in the reviewers chair for 123 ? There were no Attilas with Zymm. All rejections I had (not that many) were all justified by long and man-made explanations why. 123RF just rejected many of my new 5DII images that even iStock accepts without remarks. That's bad since 123RF as a low performer is not really in a position to throw away salable material like iStock now and then does. That wasn't their policy before. I won't object since the time it takes to email and give them examples, I can better use to edit my large backlog of images and upload to the real seller sites. I might even stop uploading to 123RF, until they sorted things out.

I bet they make a lot of money though! Not at all. They are often underpaid Filipino migrant workers there in the Gulf states. On the Bahrein-Manila flight (4 times a year), I heard my share of unpleasant stories.

I have been doing some weird stock with weird models and it was fun. But by now I learned my lesson. No tattoos, no nailbiters, no digital dental work required. A "businessman" with even a small tattoo or a hole for an earring won't sell.

You will receive an email from their bank manager offering to share their fortune with you. Oh I know that banker. He's in Nigeria and he always sends me emails about a fortune that I will inherit. I just should send him my address and bank account, and a small fee for the wire transfer.

Again, no disrespect to Zym - sorry about that - it's about sites that will fail going forward and how we may be able to spot it before we spend hours uploading. Fair enough. They are easy to spot. It's just useless to make enemies. You can make an anonymous poll though.

I had never heard of them untill this post. I did, and you won't like the story. Perhaps that thread vanished here on MSG, but may Google be your friend.

I admire Elena's honesty and sometimes it is better to be truthful than pretend everything is going well, like some other sites have. I think FP have made some big mistakes and they might be fatal but I will leave my portfolio there because there is always a slim chance that they will turn it around and get something going. +1 Elena has guts, and she is a figther. She also has a nice cat. I'll stick there.

Thanks Hugo I consider you a friend as well, even though we annoyed . out of you as a programmer yourself with all the bugs, you recognized the underlying intention and energy behind the project. Maybe next time I will get it right. You have a PM. It's only over when the fat lady sings

'm not saying .... I'm just saying.... Sometimes you shouldn't say. I consider Keith as a great guy and I will miss him here a lot. As far as possible in cyber life, I even consider him as a friend. I saw the handwriting too and I'm known for my bad mouth but not as a backstabber.

Cathy I just reported the violation with my Deviantart account, pointing to your level 5 image on DT, and this thread. His deviation is totally crap and he probably got it from HeroTurko or so. So I did what I could.
He had 2 downloads today, so he is redistributing.

As for FTP...we actually don't allow FTP into our data center due to the security risks involved with FTP in general. Don't waste your time on FTP at all. It's indeed a big security hole, that's why most sites keep them on different severs and import the files, giving delays. The flash upload works great and the interface is better than FTP since you can see the thumbs. The only thing that needs improvement are the categories: especially people.

I don't have a clue at all "what Fotolia likes" and what is "aesthetically pleasing" to them, for the simple reasons I can't find an overview page with the rejects and why. So without any feedback, I can't adapt, even if I would.

Ah __ good point. DT should be about $7-22 depending on image level. I'll amend the OP. FYI - most of my sales on DT this year were higher level images. Moneywise, they drive up my RPD a lot.

I had also some strange rejections at 123rf recently ... Me too, and I'm almost 5 years with them. I guess they hired a stray reviewer.

as for iPhone, I have a HTC with Windows Mobile 6.1 on it and it really does everything from finding restaurants to surfing the web or installing the coolest applications for smartphones. That's great. I find restaurants by asking friends and when I'm wandering around, I don't feel the urge to surf the web. The only idle periods are when on travel or in planes (I had like 20 int'l flights last year and it is boring like hell). In a plane you can't surf and during long waits in airports you need a special $SIM$ to access all these cool services. So I just walk around looking for stock. The only Apples worth noticing are the one of Newton and the label of The Beatles.

More likely it's due to the fact that there have been many reports of freezing problems with IIIs and 5DIIs, especially 8GB IIIs (i.e., the camera would suddenly freeze and only removing the battery fixed the problem). If that's the glitches you had, then your card is one of the problem cards. Ah, thanks for that info! (+ a hearth).

i find this a bit strange. when you sign a contract, there is only one date at the bottom. Not really. The shoot date and the signing date can be different. On all releases I saw till now, there is a shooting date mentioned (that can also be a period) and the date the release was signed. That can be some time after the shoot, whenever you can get hold of a witness. A witness hasn't to witness the shoot (I hate these distracting bystanders while shooting) but he has to witness the signing of the contract by the model. The only rejects I ever had for releases are "witness name not in print" (DT), and "model looks minor" (SS). The first issue was solved by reverting to an other release of the same model (DT has catch-all), the second by resubmitting with a note to the reviewer pointing to the model's social networking site, containing the age.

I just read somewhere that Dreamstime doesn't accept Getty release, is this true? No. I got several models accepted by it. Also on ShutterStock and the smaller shrimps. Of course, all references to Getty have to be removed (see my post above).

A Mac is twice the price of a PC because they have to spend that much on brand-building, brainwash their believers, and make anybody that wants bang for bucks look like a fool. Well, i am a fool. My second hand Samsung cellphone does just the same as an iPhone: texting and calling, at 20$. Even more: it never was robbed nor snatched. Macs and iStuffs are made in China anyways, like all the rest.

Distorted pixels due to poor sensor performance Pixels are never distorted. They can't, they are perfect squares. If they would be distorted, they wouldn't fit in an image or there would be cracks in between them. An image can be distorted, a pixel can't.

D5-II: Sandisk 32GB Xtreme III. If you go higher in size or speed, you'll pay a hefty price. I like to keep my cards under 100 euro since I don't like the early adopter's premium. There are faster and larger cards all the time. In 2002 I bought a 256MB card for 100 euro. 64GB is too much for now. I can shoot 3 days with it. Sure, they can break down, but every spare moment I save the new shots on my laptop.
I had bad experiences with Kingston (both USB sticks and cards). Perhaps the ones they sell in the West passed a better QC but the ones you buy in the East get fried after a while. I never had any problems with all my Sandisks.
If you count on doing a lot of video, try the Xtreme IV. My III gave some glitches. Perhaps that's due to the fact I work in the tropics in an ambient temperature of 35C+.
