Just had a sale from GL :)

Sorry, but those look really cheesy.  Very 2000's.  It's the kind of thing Russia and China can turn out by the hundreds.

Of course I'm not sure what "success" actually means here, so ...

And the kind of thing that Americans do turn out by the thousands.

Shallow post Sean, sorry.

Sorry, what?  It's exactly the sentiment echoed by others and I mentioned those countries, because most of the images don't show a "western" model in them - mostly anonymous - so it's easy to turn them out.

And the OP didn't define "success".  Acceptance?  Downloads?  Money?

Okay, work with me here Sean...

How can the first reply have "sentiment echoed"? I am struggling with this one.

Okay, mentioning China as per models I get, because the odds of a "western" model is slim. But Russia? You really need to get out of the house more, there are many Russian models that look "western".

And now the part where a am very confused... Do all models have to be "western"?

Your original post really does come across as arrogant and condescending.

Don't overthink it.  I was on my phone.  If you want a detailed analysis, my consulting fee is $150/hr.

I just did one last week, shot exactly what they sketched, with all the requirements listed.  Didn't even make the shortlist.  Reminds me why I don't waste my time there.

Sorry, my cut and paste lost the 1 at the end.  See previous msg, but don't expect good news.  You're just copying what others have done.

"filtered out" - very business-speak :)

I don't remember from when I tried it.  Too many steps/pages to go through?  Maybe I'll check it again.

Its about $50-$90 dollars per month for me with 3000 images. 50-75 downloads per month.

Thanks for sharing. It looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me to make some real cash on 123. On the bright side, their upload process is incredibly simple.

Really?  Because I thought it was a huge PITA.

More, I felt bad for dashing their hopes of image domination :)

as already mentioned, if the photographers are just being at my studio to gain knowledge, they do not own the images they take at my studio. they would need me to release those images even if they took it with their own camera.
If you decide to follow this advice put away some money for when you get sued.

would you care to elaborate? do you own a photo-studio?
Simply put owning a studio doesn't mean you own the copyright of anyone shooting there.  Even if they are shooting to gain knowledge they still own the copyright.   If you set up the shot and do everything except push the shutter then maybe you could claim to own the copyright but that is much different than what you are talking about and even then you should still get a contract in order to protect yourself.

Sorry, tickstock is correct.  Unless you have an overreaching rental agreement or something.  You have no rights to anything shot in your studio by someone else.

Sorry, what Facebook deal is that?

Nope.  Although there are some 'illustrative' photos in the collection.

General Stock Discussion / Re: MSG has jumped the shark

I don't think it jumped the shark until people started arguing about what jump the shark means.

Ha!

Why would I care about post likes?  Do they bump me up in the SS sort or something?

Hi All,

I am here, My name is Ahmed Soliman. first of all i want to say sorry to you all and all authors that i have copied there work :'( but i want you to know that i didn't read terms and conditions carefully. I am not a thief

anyway all my accounts are now terminated and i lost all of my money. one small thing... you have destroyed my work that i am using since 2008 ... and this is how i eat me and my family.

Thank you
Soliman

Terms and conditions aside, why would you even think this would be allowed?  You got what you deserved, end of story.

So what they will get/earn

They make it up in volume.

Fonzie 'jumped the shark' in a ridiculous attempt to keep the show popular/relevant.  While it may also indicate 'a decline in quality' that is not necessarily what the term indicates.

Actually 'jump the shark' means 'something ridiculous done in attempt to stay relevant'.  Nothing like that here, that I've seen.

My one other though was, why does the Fiverr person get anything at all?  They're getting a built in deal for $10 through an easy interface of some sort, and that should be selling point enough.

Sellers can offer their own extras and if you didn't offer them a cut, they'd have no incentive to allow Getty extras on their own gigs

Like I said, though, I'd think the 'benefit' would be the cheap price ( that they buyer pays! ) and ease of use.  'Course I don't know the ins and outs of Fiverr, so maybe I don't get it.

Wow, I come back from two weeks off the grid and see this crazy 'deal'.  Of all the companies to bed with, ... Fiverr?  Zing!

I had forgotten about the StockArtistsCollective forum.  You guys remember more about what I do than me sometimes.  It was a contributor discussion group I set up after a ton of people emailed me looking for some way to band together to talk about the issue and maybe do something.  I don't remember doing anything on sitemail, but maybe there was some discussion.  Obviously, none of it went anywhere, but there wasn't anything 'shady' about it that I remember.

I had 211 SODs and overall the biggest DL and $$$ day I think, yesterday.  Kind of makes up for the last two weeks dropping by almost %40.
