Heard of this site? http://www.dmca.com/

Wondering if anyone has any experience with it and what benefit (if any) you feel it could provide to us as content producers.

Unless you're camera is capturing uncompressed footage (which is unlikely at this point) you're working with a compressed format out of the camera.

Doesn't Magic Lantern give you the option to capture raw video?

It is interesting hearing about peoples' experience with freecycle and craigslist. My experience with craigslist has been just the opposite. We had received a new, larger slow cooker for Christmas. There was nothing at all wrong with our old one, we just didn't have space for two. I posted an ad (with a photo) in the free section of craigslist and received a call within 5 minutes and the husband of the woman that called came by in less than 30 minutes. No muss, no fuss.

Linux is the better hosting option, period.

IMHO  ;)

I just thought that the site had issues because they outsourced the coding to iStock's team.  ;)

Congrats! I hope it just keeps getting better for you.  :)

You may want to include the words "advertising model" so that people know right away that these aren't fashion shoots.

Good luck!

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Paypal or Credit Card?
« on: October 12, 2013, 01:07 »
I like knowing that PayPal's team is handling the security programming rather than someone's nephew that built the site for them because they didn't want to pay an "expensive" developer.  ;)

As a contributor it always makes me fell ripped off when I know someone has dl'd an XL or XXL for 25 or 30 cents

Then why don't you downsize photos before uploading to SS?

I wouldn't want my website to be only viewed on smartphones, I'd want it to be viewed on every single device 2k 4k why not 8k?  I don't understand what that restriction means at all.

Good point. That should be reworded as it doesn't make much sense the way that it is written now.

I believe that the OP was stating that there is a problem because people are sending stock images that they don't own any rights to.

Software / Re: Adobes Profit Falls 59 Percent !
« on: September 18, 2013, 21:14 »
I must be the only one here that is a CC subscriber, is happy with the product and doesn't mind the $50 a month cost.  :o

You're not the only one. I use much more than just Photoshop and Lightroom, though. That makes it a much better deal for me.

I completely agree with you all!

I think to use it one has yo be connected to the web?!

If you are on a plane or somewhere else with out Internet ... Would using the software not possible?

Sometimes I skip a version or get it late... Sometimes it's not in the budget ... CC is like "leasing a car"

Adobe CC only needs to connect to the internet once per month to make sure that you are still a subscriber.

Thanks!

I never bother to read forums on any of the microstock sites. I get all of my news here.  ;D

Dreamstime.com / $2.00 subscription sale?
« on: September 13, 2013, 18:32 »
Today I had a $2.00 subscription sale on a level 4 image. I've never seen a subscription sale for anything other than $0.35. Anyone else seeing this or is it a fluke/glitch?

Thanks for taking the time to post a fill-sized image Pete. That IQ looks MUCH better! I've sent you a PM asking a favor.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: My journey to the best DSLR camera bag
« on: September 11, 2013, 00:51 »
These days I'm doing a lot more filming than taking photos, so I'll often use 3 or 4 cameras to get coverage and keep my shoot times to a minimum. When you're carrying 4 bodies plus a decent selection of lenses, space becomes a premium pretty quickly.

Are those super-compressed or is it just me? It looks like a WHOLE lot of artifacting going on! If that's a real-world example of what comes out of that body on a bright, sunny day, then I'll stay far, far away.

I was looking at one to put on my motorized gimbal for video, so I would only be doing manual focus, which is why I said that the adapter is so cheap. You can get an adapter with electronics in it for about $70USD.

What is your impression from looking at the full-sized photos Pete?

Some of the other perks are gear cleanings (lenses & bodies) as well as credentials for events, I think.

+1 on the .exe

Is it online somewhere we can see it?

I'm really thinking about an EOS-M. Found a body on eBay for under $250USD. Add a $20USD adapter and I can use all of my current EF/EF-S-mount lenses.

I have two of this backpack and absolutely love them! The only problem is that I'm running out of room.  :o

General Photography Discussion / Canon CPS changes
« on: September 10, 2013, 13:46 »
Is anyone else here a member of the Canon CPS program? I just received an email from them and though that maybe it had been written by one of our "favorite" microstock sites. It was along the lines of, "We're making some changes," which translated to, "You're getting the shaft again."

They're no longer allowing the 60D to be counted towards membership points. I have 2 of them!

The only good news is that they've reduced Platinum membership from $500 to $300, but I doubt that I'll ever own enough Canon gear to qualify.

Thanks for reading my rant.  ;D

And you can always produce more work after selling your current crop.

I have the Sigma 70-200 f2.8

I have that lens as well and I absolutely LOVE it! Fantastic IQ and the bokeh is wonderful.
