17 months in microstock and still climbing up. Several MBEs in April.

SS - 48.1%
IS - 22.5%
DT - 8.2%
.....

A detailed earnings report in my blog:
http://microstock.pixelsaway.com/microstock-photography-earnings-april-2009/
As usual I wasted my time on several graphs.

Second, Im still having trouble deciphering the recency effect that may be exist with SS.

I see from analysis that the "recency effect" in SS was much weaker during last couple of months than it used to be
(2nd graph in my blog post).

I looked in two different ways at my earnings (and RPI) from IS and SS portfolios as a function of
- time of downloading (sales) - a more common way
- time of uploading (submitting) pictures

Here is a graph for IS earnings:

More pictures including the same graph for SS and RPI comparisons at my blog:
http://microstock.pixelsaway.com/microstock-sales-istock-shutterstock-portfolio/

You can see differences between IS and SS, but trends for SS are changing.

It is a longer post, but if you manage to check it I would appreciate any comments. I have also some suggestions for Rahul and Lookstat.

With 10 or 100 times more sales my analysis would be more reliable ...

iStockPhoto.com / 1000 downloads from iStock
« on: April 16, 2009, 10:31 »
1000 downloads from iStock after 16 months of submitting.  ~$1/download.
6 months to reach the first 250 downloads and 9.5 months to 500, so there is some speeding up.
BME in the last February and since then it's a little slower for me.

« on: April 01, 2009, 10:32 »
I had my big jump in February, March was a little slower. T
otal earnings went up, but not as much as I would expect.

SS (50%) - the same performance as in February, IS and DT down,
but all my smaller players (StockXpert, FT, BigStock, 123RF) up and with BME.

My detailed March earnings report.

« on: March 07, 2009, 18:02 »
10 months to the first payout at DT, then 3 months to the 2nd, then 2 months, ... and, hopefully, 1 month ...

After 10 months DT moved to the 3rd place in my earners after SS and IS: http://microstock.pixelsaway.com/microstock-photography-earnings-february-2009/

It needs some time.

Congratulations! How long did you need to reach the $1000/month milestone?

I crossed $500/month line in February after 15 months in microstock.

General - Top Sites / Re: Big 4?
« on: January 25, 2009, 17:12 »
I don't have Big 4, but the big 3: SS, IS, and DT with one year portfolio of 500-800 pictures.

The contribution from other agencies (StockXpert, FT, 123RF, BigStock) varies from month to month.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock rebound?
« on: January 17, 2009, 10:24 »
Only 50% of earnings (monthly projection) in comparison to December or November which were the same for me.

SS is doing fine (+30%), but all other sites are going down. I see a significant decrease of $/image downloaded in DT.

Hopefully, the 2nd half of January will be better.

193
-19%

only SS is showing a growing trend in comparison to December so far (+11%)

I am using all my favorite PC software (including deep meta for iStock submission) on Mac with the aid of Windows XP installed under VMware Fusion.

My earnings went up in November by 16%, but I added 100 pictures to my portfolio.

Much more downloads in small and X-small sizes, especially, at iStock.
