the article is fine IMO.
Including the blatant lie: "commission levels stretch from 20% to 45%"?

Can we hazard a guess as to the extent of this lie:
Number of contributors earning less than 20% commission = ?
Number of contributors earning 45% = ?

would it have mattered if he had said 15% to 40%? it wouldn't have changed the context of the article in any way. to put it in perspective, in publishing authors get 4% to 8%-if we're lucky. I'm not stating that I agree with 15% for non-exclusives. I completely disagree with so low a percentage in our industry for any artist. but I'm just saying that suggesting it was a great big LIE designed to mislead seems silly. because even had they printed the 'truth', it would have hardly changed the article.

This business has no integrity. You exchange truth for lies, sorry you can't see through the darkness.

Not sure if I qualify but if I do count me in. If in you opinion I don't, I will not take offence and really hope it takes off. We need to do something.

No, I changed my login from brm1949 to Lightwriter1949 and haven't changed it here yet.

I tried finding this person on istockcharts and he doesn't show up, although on my site mail it came back that they have been with istock since 2007.

the name is bluewing. I think I'll just let this pass. Doesn't seem legit.

I was sent this site mail on istock. Is this something I should look into. I never had this kind of request before and don't know how to approach this. Looking for some guidance from those of you are have done this before. Thanks In advance for any advice. Below is the site mail:

Do you work exclusively through istockphoto? Our company works with hunting clubs and booking agents for various services. We do offer creative services such as printed materials, website design, etc. It might be to our mutual benefit if we were to setup a direct relationship for licensing your photos for our customer projects. Adobe Stock / Re: Keep getting a Error-502!
« on: February 01, 2011, 20:54 »
I get this error

Your account has been temporarily locked. Please try again later.

I called them, they say there is no problem at their end.  cleared my cache, still the same. Sent them an email a while ago, no response. Tried the UK link, no luck.

I changed my login name a couple of days ago, but when I spoke to them they said everything was OK. Tried my old login, same results. I'm at a loss, anyone else experience this?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock royalty cut goes live

Ran across this on a Russian blog, thought it needed posting.

    iStock to contributors, 01/04/2008:
“That our revenue and payouts have eclipsed those of many traditional stock photography companies confirms that microstock is a viable and profitable business model for contributors and clients.”

    iStock to contributors, 08/09/2010:
“Since roughly 2005 we’ve been aware of a basic problem with how our business works. As the company grows, the overall percentage we pay out to contributing artists increases. As a business model, it’s simply unsustainable.”

So some are making it due to fraud? They are made partakers of fraudulent business practices and this is ethical? Wrong is right, right is wrong. Good luck with that.

As good as my math skills are, they can pretty much screw me and I'd be totally in the dark. Is this business ethics at it's best? Or is there such a thing as good business ethics.

OK, it must have been a glitch on my end. Now all my sales are showing up. Until today, they were showing my last sale on the 12th. Now it shows up to date as of yesterday. And 1 EL which boost me back up. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

Thought I took out all my PP files en I started deleting files after the changes began. I see I have a few left. But this looks bad for me because now I'm not selling anything. Still have 1050 files up there. I used to make sales everyday, not any longer. I guess the new istock has already hit me.
