What sells is the content not the price... Btw there is no need to price different from ss or as on pond5 marketplace...buyers with low budget moved from pond5 to subscription agencies...
Pond5 is a subscription agency...
It's not! They have the new hyperstock site that works on subscription...same owner but different site...
Not only hyperstock, they also have the membership program which is a all you can eat buffet, much more dangerous than storyblock, as they actually have some excellent images at a ridiculous price. Of course I am not saying that Pond5 is only a subscription agency
You're wrong...membership is completely different from subscription...you pay per download...not a monthly fee to download alll the library...

About bulk changing prices, I had this response today from P5 CS:
You can use a CSV file to change pricing and other information in bulk. Please, check the instructions about how to work with our CSV files in this page: https://contributor.pond5.com/getting-started/preparing-your-files/
Inside the CSV file, you can use the column "price" to set the price of the original version of the clip, which would be the 4K version if the video was uploaded with that resolution. After that, you can create another column called "pricelarge" to put there the price of the HD version of each clip.
If you need assistance to upload a CSV file that you have edited, please send it to us attached to an email and we'll be happy to check that everything is fine and to upload it to your Pond5 account. you can do it even on the upload page selecting all the clips you need to change price and then at the bottom of the page under drop down menu you will find set price...

People that sell clips for 50$ 4k are the real problem for this industry, the race to the bottom starts from that....i wonder if you have the same clip on ss or as...
I take your point.
I've recently let Pond5 decide my price and they've naturally placed them quite low. Time to re-examine this strategy.
However, even with such relatively low prices for 4K content, I've only had 3 puny sales in the past 3 months.
And despite this you got only few sales..go figure... With all respect alex, you should know how to price your work,if don't , 79/169 are the industry standard...if you sell on ss you already know it... I'm not a fan of pricing clips based on content,it never worked for me,neither for agencies that otherwise would have a price for every kind of content..said that ,easy content to shot or clouds timelapse are not going to sell even at pretty low price because buyers can find them on subscription, so i find quite useless shot stuff like this... If we want to survive in this business we have to focus on create new content, playing with price doesn't help, you can't go lower than subscription sites... Unfortunately go travelling and shooting stock doesn't pay off like before...

most of the buyers shop around...keep open few browser pages type what you need to search and boom, you find the same clip on different agencies...go figure where buyer will buy...
Small buyers maybe. Big companies, I doubt it. You right about big companies..but they are all on ss or as,it's hard to see them on subscription or even istock due to the limited library....other have subscription and shop around to find a better deal...

For the moment I only uploaded a hundred videos on Istock and zero photo, I should perhaps have started by doing the opposite ... do you think it is better that I stop uploder videos ? Is it so bad compared to other stocks? ok for about 15 dollars for one video but not much less ... on average in any case.
If you feed agencies that sell your work for peanuts you'll lose pontential sales on other agencies that pay you better!!!
I'd love to be on that way, but unfortunately it doesn't work on that way. The client who would buy your image in one particular moment on one exact search result in one particular agency, even will buy this image just because of the conviction in the moment.... this client will never buy your image on other agency searching you and your portfolio, or if yes will be in 1% of the cases.
I agree. I doubt very many buyers will chase individual contributors, as long as they still have enough choices they will stay with the site they like. It's unlikely a mass walk out of contributors will ever happen, D-day was the first and only attempt and it didn't work. For the big sites most buyers won't notice or care if individual contributors are gone. Even when Sean Locke left, I doubt it had any effect on istock's sales. Most buyers will be more interested in the site's prices, special offers and useful site functions than individual contributors.
Who talked about chasing a contributor??!! It only takes few seconds to search for the same clip on different agencies...it's 2019,most of the buyers shop around...keep open few browser pages type what you need to search and boom, you find the same clip on different agencies...go figure where buyer will buy...

I'd submit only to agencies that give you a decent reveneu.. If you feed agencies that sell your work for peanuts you'll lose pontential sales on other agencies that pay you better!!! I quit istock 4 years ago with no regrets and it didn't hurt my income at all...

Curation at ss it's getting ridicolous...i think they started to use AI curators, that would explain the similar content rejections..

4K clips shouldn't cost buyers double that of HD....I would suggest only a 20% premium max.
You can set your 4k, HD, Web price to whatever you want. It's up to you, not Pond5. Just go to "Account" and "Preference" and set your percentage.
What he is saying is to have a price cap forced on us. That kind of thinking is what destroys industries. I have 4k 5 second clips that sell for over $400. What nut is saying is to cap that at $95. P5 should hire him.
Totally agree...no need to low price...ss and as prove it...they sell a lot keeping the industry standard...79/179$ ..

If we all did the same we'd have only new contributors joining the party...sales don't come from youtube...
I disagree on that point about new contributors, these days everyone has Google and can read all those articles on side hustles and making money shooting and selling stock with a camera or cell phone comes up a lot, too often as a matter of fact. The reason I like YouTube is it gets indexed by Google and I am pretty sure a lot of customers who don't have accounts with a specific stock agency might just use Google to start their search for the content they want. Try a Google search for Hurricane stock footage or Typhoon stock footage and see who comes up, his YouTube content is quite nicely indexed by Google. I wish there was a quick and easy want to upload, title and tag all of my content to YouTube or anything else that gets indexed by Google, I just think it's a good thing to be there and on the front page when customers come searching. [/quote] Customers know where to buy what they want...and it's not youtube...

He wants to drive traffic to his youtube channel to make money Hey, don't be bitter and pity, check the facts first, it helps. The blog doesn't contain any link to the youtube channel, moreover, there are no ads there coming from Google Ads or any other online ad provider. The blog is not monetized at all, regardless of how much traffic comes there.
I'll call it charity...but still useless...

Nothing wrong with driving traffic and making money! Maybe if we all did the same some of that traffic would spill over into stock sales.
This guy does a lot of work on YouTube and I bet it leads to more people sampling his stock video offerings as a result https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwoU327B927MD49NNf16gxw

September is not over, %10 of the month left. Why are you so in a hurry to publish? I love the "Donate now" part... Are you also into the same charity regarding homeless people whom you exploit the images? Did you also gave them remuneration "as low as a price of a coffee"?
Really sorry for this "gently disobedient" comment...
What do you expect?? He wants to drive traffic to his youtube channel to make money, that's it...in return you have some data from one contributor out of millions which i find pretty useless since every portfolio is different, but that's just my opinion...

actually 4k is 4 times larger than hd ,then storage processing exporting takes much longer than hd,so double price is ok i think... what's the point of asking to earn less?? i really don't get it...

all subscription models " download as much as you want" for a ridicolous monthly fee are a bad deal for contributors that will earn peanuts and will lose sales on other agencies too... pond5 membership is completely different as you buy a clip pack not all the library with a monthly fee...

The answer is rise your price and stop undercutting other artists...
