The reviews are up to 3 days or more which is now the complete reverse of recent instant or an hour or two reviews.
Its obvious they haven't got a handle on this.
What is infuriating is the amount of crap they let through still
The review process in my opinion is the weakest aspect of Shutterstock.....and they have a lot of weaknesses ;-). But their biggest strength happens to be the most important one....they make the most money for most contributors
Not any more they don't after hitting a peak in early 2016 the revenue I get basically flat lined and hasn't grown at all
I get more money from other sources
As to reviews being their biggest weakness well they have plenty more fighting for that honor.
For you maybe but never the less what little evidence there is is that for most people they still generate the most income. They do for me but it looks like adobe are on a gradual upward path. I don't dislike SS but a bit more healthy competition for them would be no bad thing.
Dont be so modest! youre too kind, too affable!

Haha! I earned twice as much with Oleg and the old FT. People still uploading thousands what are they really expecting?? some good fairy coming down with a magic stick and swing the algorithm their way. Forget it, its not going to happen!
Its quite clear that Adobe is treating FT like some side-kick, something to do for some staff allday long!
I sincerely hope they keep FT and the Ft interface!

Sammy! we are not alone in our theories! right now there is a distributor collecting evidence and in contact with Lawyers to see if there are grounds to file a suit against SS for exactly what we have been talking about in dozens of threads, stopping photographers images and earnings or what we call capping earnings!
btw I'm not a member of that distributor, just saying!
Our entire business may it be micro or anything to do with Royalty free lends itself to all kind of skull duggery thats for sure!
So what happens if the evidence they collect points to a safety net not a cap and is consequently removed and their sales collapse, will you be more happy with this more equitable state of affairs? Be careful what you ask for!
I dont care! I'm out of it!...IMO there is nothing that can make the contributors situation worse or better! about DT and Google? it was bloody obvious Google somehow would screw the whole thing so I really dont know what DT was ever thinking about??

"Well Jon told me to keep quiet while we were having lunch with Donald and Vladimir"
Now I am wondering what they had for lunch?
A bucket of KFC and some coke, what else? Maybe a BigMac for desert.
Jokes apart! well DT for one have admitted they want a " fair" game giving new contributors a fair chance to earn money!....how do you think they mastermind that? if not by some sort of capping?? taking from the rich to give to the poor thingy you know or pushing newbies right up front in the search and thereby pushing down some established!
Either way its a form of capping no matter how you look upon it!
This is how the capping history has been written.
something went wrong with the text here?
I don't know what went wrong with your quote, but I know what went wrong with your logic: this is not a DreamsTime thread, but a Shutterstock thread.
Major difference, don't you think? One is very successful, the other one is struggling hard to compete. Don't you wonder why*?
*Hint: keep wondering why free market economies have always outperformed socialist economies, based on wealth redistribution.
Well DT was just an example of that agencies can gear the search the direction they want to! and NO I'm not wondering why. I know the people at DT very, very well and they are not trying to compete with SS, they run their own race so to speak.
Trying to compete with SS nowadays means you have to accept every tom, dick, harry with a smartphone into the agency just to fill up with gazillions of files and just for the sake of it, nothing else!...few years back it was an achievement to get into SS, people had to prove themselves. Today? haha! just look at it like a giant Flea-market!
Their own race? On a different planet, or what? In case you didn't realise it yet: they are competing for the same customers and they are racing against SS & Co, since inception.
Reality is that SS is very succesful at it, while DT, with their fair share wealth re-distribution socialistic strategy is struggling, big time, to stay afloat.
If by any chance, you really know them, it doeasn't play in their advantage.
Besides, it is the other way around, DT has always accepted everything, no question asked, while SS has relaxed their acceptance criteria much recently. If SS is a flea-market, then the whole market si a flea-market. Better accept it and move on, instead of ranting non-stop about it with your Q cult worshipers
It is! the whole market is a flea-market only some fleas are more expensive then others like the RM-flea! yeah we're burning black candles in the Q cult, didnt you know!

I sometimes wonder if I am selling to a different SS than the rest of you whiners...?
1) I DO get rejections of submissions. Not a lot, but then I don't put up a lot of junk either. My last batch of 126 images had 9 rejections today (all for "main subject not in focus" or "noise" -- a couple were a bit crunchy...).
2) I DO get sales on new images. I uploaded a batch of Namibia photos last week of lions, elephants, and the like. I had 21 sold from that batch just in the last 2 days.
3) My sales DO drop every summer. August is always bad for me. But then it roars back in September and is good the rest of the year.
4) I DO sell most of my portfolio. Two months ago, I had 2500 images in my portfolio. According to MicroStokr Pro, 1729 of those images have had sales. (I added another 1000+ in the last 2 months, as I went back and added stuff I had overlooked in my older stuff on my disk -- and yes, those are starting to sell too)
Maybe you know something we dont???
Yep, he knows what sells and you don't. As simple as that!
If it helps, here are my answers to the above points: 1. I DON'T 2. I DO 3. Not really 4. I DO (~86%)
Wow mate!! got to hand it to you! youre in a different league to the rest of us youre not from Ukraine or Moldova by any chance are you?
You little cute xenophobe, you! No, I'm not from Moldova, nor Ukraine, nor from any of those countries you constantly belittle in this forum.
I am obviously in the same league as mindstorm and many others. A league you can only dream about.

No you are from Ukraine, so what I've been there and its a nice country and I dont understand why you put it down?? I joined SS in 2005, long before you and that says it all! Youre league is ONLY micro-stock and that also says it all! I know who you are behind that pseudo and you know who I am.
If you are doing so well in micro-stock! fine! but when people start dodging their origin, their countries well that makes me suspiscious. tsk, tsk!
Do you even know what this forum is about, let alone this topic? Check the URL: It says microstockgroup.com. Please check the topic: it is just about SS.
So yes, I am clearly doing much better than you on micro. My suspicion is that I'm doing much better than you overall, but we can never know that, can we?
PS. If you think that I'm dodging my country when you claim that I'm from Moldova or Ukraine, you are clearly mistaken. Just for the record, since I guess I already mentioned it on this forum: I am from USA. Can you believe it? tsk, tsk, tsk...
Not unless you do commissioned work 3-4 days every week and with a turnover of 154.000 pound/sterling per annum and 2 employees from commissions only, Yes if you are doing better then I congratulate you and say I am sorry for arguing with you!
What really puzzles me though is for such a successful person you still sell on a site whose owner you despise.
Wrong! both myself, Laurin and fuego know Jon personally, not like pals but personally but Jon isnt running things anymore and havent been doing that for over a year and a half as if you couldnt work that out, sure! his got big stakes in the company but he aint running it. So how could I despise him. His been good to us. Shareholders have the power and they appoint anyone they want to!

I have no idea why a "person's origin" is relevant???
FWIW, I was born and spent most of my life living California (USA, just in case there is any doubt...). I moved to Ecuador when I retired in 2013, so now consider Ecuador my home.
Dont worry we were just beefing around with each other. Happens here now and then. Of course a persons origin dont matter!

Are you afraid because HarshTrivedi298 is a strong competitor for you? In other hands, if SS control quality don't reject this pics is because they probably sell.
Or maybe the OP has done an experiment to show that they're not controlling quality. Or maybe they're making the point that if you pay peanuts, you'll get ...
I think the second one is the most accurate. Because we dont know the meaning of quality for SS. Their parameters of quality. Some people say they use AI for review pics, no human reviewers.
Exactly!! poor imagery can sell as well as great images! and thats the platform SS i built upon!..fair enough I believe SS are losing serious contributors or simply not uploading anymore. I myself have removed more pics then todays port of just 2400 images and dont upload until I see new images selling. The SS platform is built upon that contributors could be replaced within minutes, newbies applying all the time and thousands of them all thinking to get rich over night and free lunches. As far as SS no one is infallible and everyone is expendible! of course so is their company!

Shutterstock definitely has a search algorithm where they control a contributors earnings. Do you have any proof?
I do but Jon told me to keep it to myself
Haha! Oh yes! we must not forget that it just might be Putin and Trump behind all this!...in a moment and you wait and see all these " oh no! theres no cap" brigade will come out of the woodworks with their "honest" theories!
