Within 10 minutes it's May 1st here and to support the cause I will delete some images as well.

Edit: Done!

"We are gearing up for some changes.
Please bear with us while we perform some updates and improvements to the site.
Bigstock will be available again shortly."

Is this a reason for concern? It's certainly odd the entire site is offline.

That's why we should spread the word. Twitter, Facebook, Google+, every contributor you know should be aware of this.

Now that I click on random search results on the DPC site, most of them can't be enlarged because they're opted out, but the small preview images still appear in the search results. Ergo, it has now become a terrible user experience. Win-win situation for us!

Now that I've clicked "Dont sell my files on DPC", there is no acknowledgement of the action.

Edit: oh, wait, there is.

Now that the limit is set to 500.000 like the standard Fotolia license, what are the other disadvantages compared to the normal Fotolia subscription?

I received the same reply.

They stated the license will be limited to 500.000 copies. That sounds a lot better than unlimited copies.

However, still not convinced. The thing that bothers me most is that unused downloads will not expire, and contrary to what Fotolia states, this is not good for contributors, because this will result in customers choosing a DPC subscription rather than single credit downloads.

On the other hand, I believe customers will not instantly flock towards DPC because Shutterstock also provides a good service, and not every customer is looking for the cheapest bargain possible.

Sent an email to support asking to be removed from DPC. Let's see what their response is going to be.

I can write to Fotolia support and opt out of DPC?

Here is an answer, you might see the thumbnails, but the images cant be bought. Shocking answer from DP as this means Shotshop takes your money but you wont get the image.

Quote
Shotshop can accept your payment, but you will not receive the image.
Your images were removed from all our API websites and I sent you a confirmation by email. You could only see the previews since we were working on our search filters. However, it was not possible to purchase your files there since your files uploaded directly to our website are available for sale only on our website.

I am tempted to try actually buy one of my files on Shotshop to see if that's true.

I am also pretty sure that Shotshop buyers still see our images in their lightboxes. So if DP's statement is correct that should create quite a mess for Shotshop. What a pile of cr@p!

Ok, I just went throught the check out flow, and I cant buy my image nor will they take my money. I guess DP was right, but it sure it effing confusing and very bad experience for buyers. But lets hope it all causes them to leave the site in droves and purchase elsewhere.

Still think they are thugs

Thanks for checking.

Haha, "Shotshop can accept your payment". Very funny.

I received the same reply from Vicky:
"You could only see the previews since we were working on our search filters. However, it was not possible to purchase your files there since your files uploaded directly to our website are available for sale only on our website."

Why are they still visible then...? Working on their search filters, what's that even supposed to mean? The (preview) images are either stored in the database, or they're not, what does that have to do with search filters?

I naively thought that just stopping to upload would send enough of a message to them. Apparently, not so:

I checked today and there it is again, my whole DP portfolio on Shotshop!!!  :o :o :o What do they think? (if at all)  :o :o :o

Guess, I am forced to escalate: I am going to deactivate all my images and cash out. (At least I am over the $50 limit, now).

Gangsters!  >:( >:( >:(

WARNING EVERYONE.  ALL OF MY IMAGES ARE BACK ON SHOTSHOP. They were originally removed and now that are indeed back.  I can't imagine that DP has any reasonable excuse for this.

I got my answer from Vicky. No excuse at all, just denial:

"There is no way to purchase your portfolio on other websites. We have removed it from all our API partners."

But they were quick to remove my port from their API partners again. Still, this is not acceptable. I'll deactivate my port and be gone...
SHe is either lying or clueless, I got the same answer, yet I have a screenshot of the paypal checkout. Thugs

Have you actually tried buying the image? If you did, then she would indeed be lying. If not, try to see if that works. (Although that would mean you'd have to give them money, so I'd understand it if you don't want to try ;))

I asked for removal 3 weeks ago but they still haven't been removed. How long does it usually take?

+ New "Report an issue" feature is implemented in the latest version of the program

Using this feature you can send the message about upload or submission problems even if the program does not show any errors and does not let you to send the standard error report.
How to send the report: use "Service" -> "Report an issue" menu command right after you have experienced the problem. Describe the issue in the text field (as detailed as possible) and press the "Send report" button.
Send multiple reports if you want to report multiple problems.

Thank you for helping to improve the software :)

Great feature!

glad I took a payout last week  ;D

Account Balance:    $-8.08 USD

Since the clawback payment last night my 'Account Balance' has completely disappeared from my Macbook screen. I'm sure it would be negative but there are no numbers whatsoever being displayed. To check my stat's I have to go to My Account/Profile.

That's normal. it does disappear when it goes negative. When it passes the 0 again, it'll reappear.

Something just struck me: when I cashed out the money I received from October's PP, I had to pay currency conversion fees to PayPal (as usual). But if Istock hadn't made that error, I wouldn't have made that extra cash-out, thus I wouldn't have paid those fees. So actually, Istock owes me the unnecessary costs I made because of their accounting error.

In my email to DP I said:
"However, despite you having the legal right to do so, doesn't mean it can be considered ethical if a re-seller sells an image for EUR 29,90 and I get to keep a meager USD 0,30 (< 1% royalty). This is a very bad deal for me as a contributor, no matter how many sales I'd get.

Therefore, I would like to be opted out out of all partnership programs and API resellers immediately."

Their answer:
"I think that it is a great idea to have now and then some additional sales. "

Yeah, that's because you aren't missing out on 99% of the sale money! Unbelievable.

I got an e-mail from a business, asking for a customized version of one of my images for use on their nylon mats. It gets printed on these mats and then shipped to retail stores.

I'm now considering the price, but I've no idea about the number of prints, how many retail stores and how expensive these mats will be. Therefore, I find it hard to come up with a good license price.

Any ideas? Who's had experience with selling designs for decoration items?

I would see that as an extended license plus any customizing charges you want to charge them. Unless, they want it as exclusive, then I'd just charge regular freelance rates.

Thanks Chris.

Yeah, the customized version will be exclusive, plus the Extended License on stock sites does not cover printed merchandise if the image is the primary factor of the sale. So I was thinking a higher price than that, or perhaps a percentage of the sales revenue.

It's Cory, but good luck. It's always nice to get some extra money from custom work.

Oh, I'm sorry! Got names mixed up.

Suppose an Extended License gets sold through Shotshop, would we be getting $0,30 as well?

1798
I've sent a complaint plus the demand to remove my images from all partner sites and API resellers.

1799
I've just read this topic with complete shock and I'm shocked. I will immediately tell them to opt me out from partner sites and api resellers, and very possibly delete my account from these frauds.
