I was excited to sign in this morning to see 4 StockXpert ppd's - (I get so few "real" dls there these days) and then I realized they are all for the same photo  :(  I bet there will be news of a refund coming my way in the near future.

And, when are these JI sales going to stop?

On a good note, I too requested payout last night and have received it already.

If you compare it to associated content, or squidoo, or hub pages, or ehow (there's a plethora of sites for this type of writing) the pay isn't bad.  The guys that make money at this (and it can be considerable) write their content in roughly 15 minutes and post 10 - 20 stories a day.  The stories are thin and to the point.  I could write a story about submitting to DT in 10 minutes - worth $5, but a tutorial on drawing an illustration of a Christmas present would take me a week .

If you get $5-15 and keep the rights to the content you can then post it to those other sites that accept recycled work (not all of them do) it seems fair.  If they demand to restrict your rights to the story I can't say it is worth it unless you can knock 6 or 7 of these things off in a morning and won't get upset when you find them selling it to other services.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: My first FotoSearch Regular - $19.80
« on: September 01, 2009, 01:56 »
I sortof forgot about Canstock, a few months ago I had uploaded 10.  I was quite annoyed with CanStockPhoto because I couldn't figure out ftp, and when I slow-uploaded a bunch and the thumbs never came (bummer!).   When I recently checked on those 10 that were approved I was surprized to find 5 little sales.

I am in the process of uploading more.  Still can't get ftp to work, activex doesn't work either, but java does the trick.

Would luv to get me some of them Fotosearch sales.

Tell them they can have a free photo for a free full page ad.  I bet their cheapest advertising space is more than an enhanced license.  The first issue likely doesn't even have a big enough run to require an EL.

Interesting.   I didn't know that FT has an "accept" button.  ;D  From where I sit they seem to be turning into a subscription-only service.  FT should accept everything and be happy to give it away for nothing.

The cheapest site I found that I would feel comforatable ordering from was Amazon.com.  A design suite is about $450 cheaper than to buy locally in central Canada.

This is steering away from templates and microstock, but Mark Stout just blogged about the value of a photo and giving it away.  Good read.

I can't get anything approved that remotely looks like a background, but I had one squeak through a while ago (someone likely was fired for that one)  and it happens to sell surprisingly well.

No, not unusual, although you are reaching the far end of expected time with DT.   My last submission was around 4 days, but I have found with this site an editor might collect them and they can sit with "n/a out for review" for several days, especially if they go out late Thursday or Friday.  Sometimes they will go out for review and then appear back in the que with "72 hours" pending.

That's great ichiro, I hope it works out with a happy ending for you.

In my fantasy world, every agency should pay out ALL earnings at year end, if contributors hit payout or not.

Adrepis, you should post your referral code here. You have been the most informative about this agency.

One thing about spotting animals is that by the time you stop and change into that long lens the animal may very likely be gone and then you will find that a 200 is not even long enough.  Unless you are hiking with other Canon users of course and can share lenses and the burden of carrying them?  I know how heavy my 70-200 is - for a afternoon I'd take it, but a whole week plus your gear and food...  Of course if you run into Sasquatch while you are out there you will never forgive my advice.  ;D

First, Maksim, if you are a member of this forum - sorry for singling you out.  But I clicked the link in Sean's post and took a wander through your first half dozen pages.  Dude, you sure know how to get the mileage out of  a single shot!

(You can single me out too, but warning - you are a much better shooter than I and it wouldn't be very good sport).

I'm sure there must be another version of that third one but I didn't look hard enough.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Anyone exclusive on DT?
« on: August 20, 2009, 13:32 »
Yes, if DT favored exclusives like IS does I would consider it.  I'm really disillusioned right now with Fotolia rejects and StockXpert's prolonged death, SS has been consistent, but it is all old photos selling - nothing new.  DT has pretty much grown every month for me.

FT has introduced a premium subsciption, the purchaser can download any size, the regular sub sizes are restricted.

I heard CS5 is coming out in the new year so they want everyone to buy now and upgrade again in the spring.

I bought a new Intuos and it has a PS coupon for $249.  I don't need PS, I can live with what I have - I need the whole suite.

I am taking a correspondence course, wonder if that qualifies for student pricing.

I ftp to several local printers, it looks like Isyndica doesn't work outside of their agency list.  Although it looks fantastic, I'm not a huge uploader so $9.95 per month vs free doesn't make sense right now (especially when FT is going to reject everything I send anyway :( ).  Somtimes though I say, man oh man I should just shoot stock for a living and give up this chasing invoices and wiping little soccer star's noses.  If that day comes, I would go for Isyndica!

hlth - if you have an affiliate code you should post it here for Isyndica.

Thanks nialat.  I see that SmartFTP is only $36.95 though, so that is almost free.  Uploading to more than one site at at time is a great feature.

Well, one of my sub sales today was 70 cents which I should be happy for.  I do think subs prices should be based on sizes before popularity though.

Software - General / What is the best FTP client these days?
« on: August 18, 2009, 14:51 »
What is a good free FTP software?  I was just about to download Filezilla to my new computer.  It's what I've always used - but thought it would be a good time to check if there is anything better I should look at.   Also, what is a good site to download from?  Thanks gang.

The name sounds like the verbal approximation of every persons butchered attempt to pronounce my last name in my life. :)
I have to admit i thought that it was a play off your name at first too.  Bettei than Tewemei?

I upgraded to an Intuos tablet last night and there is a coupon in it for a free premium Cafe Press store for 5 years.  It says a $300 value.  I have a couple things there but had totally written Cafe Press off because without a premium store it is a silly setup.  When do they payout earnings, is it $100?

Would be nice if you are right Lisa!  But I thought I would stop by the SS forum, and I counted the EL's reported on the thread and it was around 32 so far, sounds like you have some and must be many others.  Oh, my that's a lot of photos.  Hopefully they are not on a disc being mass distributed.
