« on: July 16, 2013, 07:08 »
Would it be safe to ask in the iStock forum if exclusive artists can sell from their own site now? Yuri peopleimages as an example, along with the press release how could they say no?

That post would have a half time of approx. 3.983 milliseconds, only slightly exceeded by your posting privileges on the forum.  But go ahead, try it, what good is physics without an experiment?  ;D

So if I declare some of my work as the ShadySue Collection, I can have other stuff elsewhere?  8)
Oh, that's called 'image exclusivity'.   :o

Go ahead, write them an e-mail asking them to consider the ShadySue Collection, but be sure to make it impactful  ;D

Impactful - what a word - but, yes, indeed...
When I saw it, I thought "That's not a real word", but I checked, and apparently it is.
At least, it's in Merriam-Webster, but possibly not in the OED.
However, according to Washington State University:
"Many people in business and education like to speak of things that have an impact as being impactful, but this term does not appear in most dictionaries and is not well thought of by traditionalists. Use influential or effective instead. "

And in the Urban Dictionary:
"1.    impactful
September 23, 2009 Urban Word of the Day
A non-existent word coined by corporate advertising, marketing and business drones to make their work sound far more useful, exciting and beneficial to humanity than it really is. This term is most frequently used in "team building" seminars and conferences in which said drones discuss the most effective ways to convince consumer zombies to purchase crap they clearly do not need or even want."
2.    impactful
Something that conveys significance.
I.e. utter marketing gash, it's words like this that make society bad and help meaningless marketing plebians ascend the rungs of their pointless evil careers and step on anyone creative in their path. For shame marketing ... for shame.

 8)

That's the reason why I love to come here: Not only is it entertaining, but you learn something new every day - thank you!  :)

Having worked at Dow Jones, is she the one who doens't know what 50% actually means?

Come on, what's a few percent compared to the "...site's commitment to its 'by creatives, for creatives' heritage..." and a "...a remarkable ability to drive impactful results...".

Impactful - what a word - but, yes, indeed...

Did I miss that one?  ???
Never 'eard of 'er.
Maybe that is the new announcement Lobo promised in the exclusive forum, firstly for Friday, then for first thing yesterday (Monday) morning.
Hasn't appeared yet.

« on: July 15, 2013, 06:57 »
I'm sure more information will be coming forth shortly. It will probably contain some of these phrase (choose any three):

"appreciate your concern"
"glitches in the matrix"
"gremlins"
"thank you for your continued patience"
"more pressing issues"
"IT-department working hard"
"resolved swiftly"
"factors beyond our control"

Interesting to see that they actually have June stats to run them "early" - makes me wonder if they really have the stats well in advance every month and just hold onto them to delay payout.

Naah, that would mean they haven't been completely honest with us, and you don't think that, do you?  ;D

« on: July 12, 2013, 00:21 »
Is my experience the norm?

I don't know if it is the norm, it certainly mirrors my experience. Sale numbers are up a bit, compared to previous years, however this is offset by the lower prices.

Then again, this doesn't come as a surprise, does it? The "Subs-will-attract-new-buyers-not-deteriorate-existant-sales"-idea didn't work on DT, FT, or any other agency. Why should it be different on BS? Still a shame about it, though...

Dreamstime.com / Re: Have DT sales slumped?
« on: July 09, 2013, 03:33 »
Ever since the last price change, my DT pattern looks like this: Lots of subscriptions (which I already got before), then I get a big one ($4 or $5), and then lots of subscriptions again. What I hardly get anymore are $0.21 or $0.46 sales.

The net effect of this is that DT will probably be one of the few agencies which keep the level of the last years for me - at least my half-year projections say so 8)

Adobe Stock / Payout limit at Fotolia?
« on: July 09, 2013, 00:01 »
Yesterday I reached the payout limit on Fotolia, which is in my recollection 50 credits (and always has been). I tried to "convert" these credits towards my Paypal account, but got the error message that: "More credits are required to proceed with conversion"...

All of these credits are "green" and thus validated, their FAQ still says the payout limit is 50. Before I contact their support, has anyone recently had success in cashing out at Fotolia with 50 credits?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Changes to Main Collection pricing
« on: July 08, 2013, 00:21 »
For me, DT changed to a funny pattern since their last price restructuring: I'll get lots of subscription sales (same as before), than I get a big one (say 4-5$)... What I hardly get anymore are $0.21 or $0.46 regular sales. The net effect of this is that DT remains on par in with previous years in my projections for 2013.

FT on the other hand is on the way to make me one sixth of what it made in 2010, my last sale there was not quite a month ago  :P

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock and E+
« on: June 28, 2013, 13:57 »
E+ is gone. There are now four collections: Main (cheapest); Signature, Signature + and Vetta (aka Editor's Pick). There's also a placeholder for a Value Bin, which doesn't seem to exist yet.

At least for me "Value Bin" exists not only as a place holder, as it contains about 10% of my portfolio - as has the "Dollar Bin" before...

220
Hmmm.... All my P+ appear to have been demoted to main. I don't think that will benefit me or iStock. Hopefully they have simply not gone through everything yet.
Same here so I'm hoping that it isn't finished yet.

Same here... I bet you dollars to donuts that it's going to stay that way until hell freezes over they ironed out all the other bugs  :P

iStockPhoto.com / Re: yuri arcurs is IS exclusive
« on: June 08, 2013, 16:16 »
Why don't one of you guys contact IS support and pose the question?  Obviously, they wouldn't answer me if I asked.

Seriously?

They have lied to us, they are lying to us, and they will lie to us in the future. The best that can be said is that they (IS) aren't actually lying because they (Getty) don't give them (IS) all the facts.

I think that we should accept - with our own sanity in mind - that, while all animals were created equal, some are more equal than others. And that some people got a (very) short end of the stick, while others, well, got a very special deal. The sooner people realize that they aren't in Kansas anymore, the sooner they will be able to make rational decisions about their own and their portfolio's future...

123RF / Re: 123RF Now in Top Tier
« on: May 19, 2013, 11:07 »
Looking at downloads I'm (almost) on track for the good years of 2011 and 2012 - and that definitely would put them in the top tier for me.

Thanks to commission cuts and a general shift to smaller sizes and/or subscription sales income will be approx. half of 2011...  :'(
