Hi Dreamframer yes, DeepMeta. I don't have it. My question is - but why DeepMeta at all? Why not fix the upload process itself? Make it easier Istock, faster, simpler and more reliable! All the other sites have managed to keep us happily uploading without the need for the installation of an extra tool. It can be done. And by the way, as far as I know, Deep Meta gives no help when it comes to vector, EPS files. Your metadata, keywords, titles, description, all lost. DeepMeta or no DeepMeta the results are the same. A blank page. In my case, I don't see a point in installing it. Can't wait for the new site. Finally contributors will be able to upload their files (all formats) via IStock without having to fight various bugs and glitches. Great, can't wait

Hahahah! I love Suljo's posts He always makes me laugh. Very passionate parrot I don't think Suljo hates IStock. If he truly did, he would have stopped uploading. I think he likes complaining, he's very vocal, and gets irritated by some of IStock's policies. And he's right. I do too. To keep it in a nutshell, everything about IStock is overly complicated. Nothing (including searching) is ever easy over there. Other sites can do it a lot better. Why won't they? Regarding the new web site, I'm a 'one click surfing' woman. Keep it simple, no moving parts on my screen. And I'm not sure I like the sticky floating bar at the bottom of my screen. I'll have to wait and see. IStock is an important agency for all of us and a vital money-maker for many of you. Fingers crossed, they'll do well. FD - no Twitter here Trying to stay away, but if things change, I'll let you know. Tx

Off topic FD, aha I remember them all I spent hours and hours playing with your calibration sites. Obsessively, to get it just right When I first downloaded your bag of goodies I wasn't even a registered member on this forum. Just an avid reader and I trusted you This time I'll bookmark your site and copy the goodies straight to my external HD. For safe keeping. It comes a bit late, but thank you FD

You need your coffee, FD I was talking to Mr D Never mind, let's see the new and improved IStock up already. Can't wait For now, there's one good news. I don't have to login 4 times a day anymore. It's great actually, but will it last? Off Topic, FD, months and months and months ago you gave us a list with recommended free utilities. I downloaded them all and happily used your Registry Cleaner whenever needed. I haven't got it anymore and I want it back. Was it the Eusing? Thank you

Suljo might be rude, but he also tells the truth. Or at least his perception of the truth. I like that. I think we all agree that Andrew, Roger from Mexico, is genuinely a nice guy (nothing to do with his looks, T-shirt or the video). He just is and always has been. Thumbs up por El Mexicano On the other hand, the 'user experience designer', Michael, does indeed look very young. Not that that's a bad thing. He's probably very talented and we wish him all the best. My question is - where is the link to 'My Account' going to be located? At the very bottom of the page? Will we (contributors and buyers) have to scroll all the way down to be able to access it? Suggestions - EPS files - metadata lost at upload - any chance of getting this fixed? Scrolling windows in categories - can we avoid the scrolling windows altogether and have something else instead? Not that I have any chance of influencing IStock's web design, but hey, at least I tried In any case, good luck

Hi Race Photo, are you still open? I'm going to open an account (need to transfer some files for a friend) and I'm not sure which link to use. Is yours still available? Have you reached your quota? I'm going to wait for your answer and do it later. Thank you!

Wow! Haven't seen the thread on IS, thank you Jsnover for posting here as well. This is a terrific achievement, congratulations Lisa! Especially for an independent. Even more so for an independent who is not part of a photo-factory and who does all the work by herself. Against all odds, fighting with treacherous BMs, smaller upload limits, biased inspections, Vettas, Exclusives and Getty wholly owned collections, Lisa has managed to reach the highest IS ranks. An amazing story and a well deserved prize! Shine on your black diamond Lisa and enjoy the party

I've been doing a rather obsessive site bouncing for the past few days. Just like Warren. My results are really sad. All I get is the odd 0.25 cent download at SS. Good luck Warren with your deal

Hi Lisa, but you *are* a big fish, of course you are! Let me tell you a short story to cheer you up a bit. Real life, it happened 2 days ago. It's not an isolated example, the same thing happens virtually all the time. It's about your images vs Yuri's. To cut a long story short - we've got a new customer. Late evening college, adult education, opening in September. They want to set up a web site. For their home page they are looking for a few images of, quote 'happy, smiling, mature students'. This is how their lightbox looks like : Monekybusiness, Yuri and you. And the winner is ... ... Lisa Fx! Reason for rejecting Yuri's images, quote, mot a mot - 'Beautiful photos but the people don't look real and their teeth are too white' In the end your classroom series was the winner, congratulations! See? You're a bigger fish than the big fish But of course, by now, almost all my customers know your story - lovely American photographer, this is her husband, this is her daughter. Hard working family, real people, please help funding expensive college fees for a very smart young lady Having such a beautiful portfolio certainly helps As a side note, possibly for a future project - more women students in your classroom? Back on topic - I like Dreamstime and I'm really happy Yuri is back. It is very important to have him there, this is good news. I hope this 'too many similars' policy gets a review soon. For Yuri, Lisa and all of you. The more beautiful, commercial images on Dreamstime, the more buyers and the more chances I have to sell one of mine. Hopefully they'll reconsider.

@Magnum, upload more photos to IStock? Gladly! Except there's a slight problem. Their upload system. Judging by IStock's forum it seems a variety of errors keep on bugging it down. I guess there's not much else I can do, but wait a lill' bit longer. Will do. @Rene, absolutely. IStock is a professional agency dedicated to professional photographers. No denying. Not a place for someone like me. I'm not a photographer, I'm not a professional and I certainly don't dream to *feel* like one. I like Dreamstime's site, sales, numbers, community and blogs. You don't. Fair enough. Luckily you're a professional, an IStock exclusive and you don't have to. Wishing you the best of sales,

Well, I think it's time for a different opinion. I'm a die hard independent, but if I ever grow strong enough to go exclusive with one site, it will be Dreamstime. No question about it. I might be mentally weak (up for debate), and I'm definitely not a professional. I'm not even a photographer. I'm a hobbyist and from time to time, when and if things go the right way, I like to cheer Dreamstime on. I'm not sure what's wrong with that. So far I seem to fit the profile to a 'T', 'Dreamstime Exclusive' - hobbyist, cheerleader and mentally weak But then again, there are many hobbyists and cheerleaders at IStock as well. Some have even reached gold and above. I like Dreamstime for many reasons, (including the blogs and the forums), but let's have a look at the numbers. Numbers don't have opinions and don't lie. - acceptance rate at DT - 96 % - acceptance rate at IS - 85 % - sales at DT - 127 - sales at IS - 43 No room for debating. Not to mention that I have a nagging feeling that the true 'IStock Exclusive Contributor' is a dying breed. From now on we have to take into account the many sisters and brothers plastered all over IStock and part of the great Getty family. In my books Dreamstime is a better agency, but we're all different and to each its own.

Congratulations to Spain! For those interested, this is what the Irish commentators said about the match : - the Dutch played a vicious and brutal game - they were appalling to watch - had the Netherlands won the cup, it would have been a sad day for football - the referee should have been tougher. He should have given red cards much earlier in the game -to stop the Dutch from ruining the game - the Spanish played football. The Dutch did not. They said Forlan was the best player of the tournament. And I actually managed to watch most of the game Well done Spain Enjoy!

Well, Artemis, what about the toxic green of the Search buttons on ThinkStock? Will you take that for a reason?
They're not only targeting SS, but Getty's all over IStock as well. New Retrofile Collection, B&W stock photography from the 30's, hundreds upon hundreds of them. Content wholly owned by Getty, all images straight to Vetta, most with an initial rating of + 5. (ease of workflow?) How's that for fair inspections? There's no stopping Getty. There's no stopping photographers from uploading to ThinkStock either. Some are getting hundreds of downloads a month. Hard to convince them to consider the future and close accounts today. Luckily we still have IStock's upload limits on our side. For now. But what about the other sites? Will they simply let Getty crawl all over microstock?

Hi Donding, 50 of your images were rejected, all with the same reason. 'From an aesthetic point of view, the images do not appeal to Veer customers.' I thought the whole point of launching Dash for Cash was to attract *new* customers. New customers - a variety of aesthetic preferences? I was hoping Veer inspectors were done and dusted with this kind of rejections. It seems not. But don't worry Donding Hopefully, Veer knows what it's doing, clever marketing will soon follow and sales, real sales will help you, (and all of us), reach payout and beyond. I'm light years away from payment (7 dollars in my account), but I'm keeping my hopes high. They have everything they need to make it up there. We can only wait and hope for the best.

@Ap, Actually, Veer inspection times have always been very long. Even before the Dashing rush. They need more reviewers. And you missed my point. I'm on their side and I want them to do well. Fingers crossed, this time they will.

I agree. Come on Veer, get those ducks in a row! You've got everything you need, and more, to make this a success. The Veer - Corbis brand is yours, the super smart and immensely rich guy who sits at the very top, knows a lot about creating a successful business, a lot about 'micro' - could easily extend it to 'stock' is backing you up, and you've got thousands upon thousands of photographers willing to join you. What's there to stop you? The bonus - very generous, but what you really need is microstock know-how. Veer site is beautiful, (the most, actually), but it's not easy to navigate. Simplify it for the buyers. Fast, furious and easy search engine - extra clicks to be avoided. A much, much faster inspection time. You need reviewers and they need to know what they're doing. While I upload a second vector to Fotolia, the first one has already been inspected. It happens live, in real time. They're that fast. They can do it, so can you. Marketing.
Sites like Deposit Photos (brand new, faulty English, 1.6 mill images only) or ThinkStock (a lot of old images and IStock second hand stuff) sell more than Veer. It shouldn't be happening. We can only hope things will change for the better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I want them to do well.

Absolutely right. Keep in mind that agencies make money only as long as photographers keep on uploading. And you're right. They do. I firmly believe many, many would upload for even less than 0.25 cent.
Regarding Crestock, 0.25 cent payment is far from being their only problem. There are other things, in my view just as important, that they need to fix first. Hopefully in time they will, but right now I'm not good enough for them. Good luck to the new management!

I have never uploaded to Crestock. Thanks to this forum I was kept well informed about the problems. I probably never will. - 0.25 cent sub - 20 % commission - very long inspection times - very low acceptance rate - payouts take many many months Come to think of it, they might even be crappier than ThinkStock. Not only they pay 0.25 cent per sub, but they don't pay it at all! Lol, that puts them in a league of their own. Why not upload to Flickr instead? No rejections Very successful contributors, like Lisa, have had a more positive experience with Crestock. My portfolio though is nowhere near hers. It won't open the same doors. I'm much more likely to be rejected and / or never paid. For now I'm staying away.

Hahah, Lisa, you're right Plenty of Christmas stuff floating around my IStock port. Can you guess why? My early days, right at the beginning. I was overly excited and kept on flooding IStock with all sorts of baubles Not anymore though. That feeling has long left me. Thank you for your kind words Lisa, and thank you ShadySue for your suggestions. I might give that forum a try. Back on topic, to edit or not to edit. I was thinking about it... IStock is one of the best agencies around. Contributors sell thousands and thousands of images a day. A record like mine, 0 sales for more than a month, (both vectors and photos), is probably unusual. (I'm uploading, but not very often). Some of the images I've got on IStock have sold at least once at every other major site. The only place those images don't sell is IStock. There can be 2 reasons : - restricted keywords on IStock (5 - 7 max) - IStock exclusive collection (not found on other sites) proves to be too much of a competition for the less than ideal quality of my images. The answer is probably both. And the point is - yes, keywords are important. In some cases editing / adding relevant keywords is the right thing to do. Unless of course, post-editing has a negative effect on best match. And we're back where we started. Great images with relevant keywords, right from uploading, are the way to go. Not easy

Hi, A large part of my images at IStock have 5 - 7 keywords only. I'm terrified by keywords rejections and I'm playing by the rules. Once submitted I never edit an image. The results? Quite poor, not even a single sale in more than a month. But in all fairness my sad record has a lot more to do with the quality of my images than to anything else. I have yet to reach mediocrity. Go for relevant keywords and great images. That must be the key

Hi, This forum is not about making friends and being nice with each other, right? It's about being honest, even if it sounds harsh. At least so I've heard. I'm going to take Microstockphoto's example above and be honest.
@Click-Click, no. You didn't upload to Deposit Photos because they were new and you were trying to help them grow. You uploaded because they paid you. That's why you uploaded. For the money. There's no point in calling them names now. You were paid for your efforts and you got what you wanted. You upload to ThinkStock for the same reason. You want the money, and you want it now, regardless of consequences in the future. You're right, you're on a mission to 'squeezing'. I'm not.
Before you go on and ask the question, I uploaded to Deposit Photos too. But in a different way. First 5 batches - 10 photos each - for free. I was fully aware of the bonus, but I didn't activate it. I wanted to help, that's all. Did you do that? I never got a payment from Deposit Photos. Not enough images included in the promotion and that's fine by me. From time to time I get a sale - always more than 0.25 cent, sometimes a lot more, great, they're still new and I'm still uploading.
@Godrick, I'm sorry, I can't give you any meaningful advice regarding your images. But I can tell you one thing for sure.
ThinkStock is the crappiest site in the industry. Hands down. Absolutely nothing about that site is how it should be. They're the sad result of the squeezing mentality. Milk IStock for all its worth. With very little investment they're looking to get their hands on the highest possible profits. Question is, *the* question is - are you into squeezing yourself? It sounds harsh, but this is what it boils down to. The site is crap, the payment is crap, but those 0.25 cent might be too much of a temptation. I can understand why an exclusive would want to give it a try. They're locked in, they have nowhere else to go. But as an independent you've got better choices and you should be thinking about the future. You don't want to undercut your better paying agencies. You don't want those buyers to move to ThinkStock. Keep on uploading to ThinkStock and one day they will. It's not a good idea.
