I received a response from 123. They write that they accept videos. At the moment, the authors have uploaded a lot of videos, and the system now processes it longer. So I will wait and continue to upload the video.
Yeah longer, indeed! My oldest pending video is from September 2019!

I stopped paying attention to 123RF, but I just noticed that I have photos pending review since September 2022 and footage pending review for the past few years.

This is also a good lesson for others who believe that giving their work away for free, in exchange for the "exposure" illusion is good practice.
Free stuff is not used, it's abused.

I am happy
I bet you wouldn't be that happy if they would show each sale with your entire port sold for 2-3 cents/video, and that only to help your AI competitors. But seeing all sales in a bundle is mesmerizing.

I don't know what peanuts means to you, but I don't mind mine 50$ I've just got... Of course, if it's only for previous month?
$10 for me, because I have a small portfolio (~350 videos). But even $50 is peanuts, when you realize that for only $50 you are helping your AI competition to be trained by your assets. You will be losing much more that $50, when customers will begin choosing AI generated stuff trained by you, instead of your real assets. You are shooting yourself in the foot, and also hurting the rest of us

I just noticed this new dataset line on my P5 earnings page. See attached. I highly encourge you guys to reject these peanuts and opt-out of AI training. Unckeck the dataset box at the bottom of this page: https://www.pond5.com/my-preferences

Hi everybody,
I still don't see my 1099 in 123RF Tax Center. I called them, and they told me to send an email. I emailed them, but they never responded. I have only 50-something dollars to report, and I was wondering if anyone here has their info for tax purposes (EIN and their address). If you do, please share it here so I can submit my taxes.
I found this. Can anybody please tell me if I can use this info? https://eintaxid.com/company/990375104-123rf-llc/
Thank you!
In my tax center: https://www.123rf.com/contributor/tax-center... I have the file marked below. That's the closest I got to a 1099. My 2022 earnings and the official 123RF address are inside, specifying: 123RF Limited (Hong Kong Company Registration No : 1071720) Level 54, Hopewell Centre 183, Queen's Road East Hong Kong Tel: +852 8199 0655 Fax: +852 3020 6655 Email: [email protected]

Got my first payment since the currency chnage. Lost 11,58% of my income. Thanks for nothing, Adobe.
They need extra money to feed the deep AI mouth... and build our (no?) future...
Nha, they need extra money to make some CEOs, managers and shareholders even richer. Maximizing profit is really all companies care about. That's what capitalism is about. And that's not even what I am holding against them. After all I am looking to maximize my profit as well (with the only difference that I am not already a millionaire) Just wish they'd find other ways to do this than by taking it away from the very people their business was build on.
the only thing we can do to save some money is not to buy adobe product....
No need since Adobe is giving their products for free to worthy contributors
most of us have only 1 app for free...for the missing apps there are other solutions...
I guess you have 2: LR and PS, right?
no,i do only video,so i got AE...but you miss the point...i could afford all the apps with no problem but if they want to maximaze their profit on my shoulder i'll do the same...this is business...
Ahh, ok. Nevertheless, I'm sure that "most of us" are getting LR and PS for free, while some of us are getting all apps for free. In my opinion, if you really want to maximize your profits in relation to Adobe, you could switch to Davinci Resolve, and maybe get LR and PS for free, instead of AE.

To be exact the checkbox says: "I allow users to use my media for free, even for commercial purposes, without further attribution or compensation to me"
For media submitted for Free License distribution:
I allow users to use my media for free, including for commercial purposes, without further attribution or fee to me.
Then there is almost no point in uploading to them. It will help them but does little for the creators. Do they think we live and create just to support them?
Yes, they are on steep downhill slope. Below is a graph with my 123RF earnings going down the drain, even when compared with DT (similar size company), which is more or less stable. Moreover, they reject many of my photos because they are too large. Storage limitations in this time and age? Common! I see no reason to downsize them only for 123RF and then upload them manually.

The real problem was that FT and AS were screwing US contributors by selling in euros in Europe and paying us in dollars.
On the other hand, you had very good ride when when you were overpaid for your US sales. All that artificial bonus you got throughout the years must compensate at least a part of your new conversion fees. Be fair and admit it.
Anyway, PayPal fees, bank fees, local taxes are not Adobe's concern.
Now everybody is paid the same. That's what matters.
Fair enough. Everybody gets paid the same, yet now Adobe pockets the surplus from -sales. So instead of fighting amongst ourselves over the amount of crumbs we receive, we should stand together and acknowledge that Adobe simply increased their bottom line at the expense of contributors. If it's fairness we're talking about, their credit system (1 credit = 1 USD = 1 EUR) should reflect actual market rates.
Agree. However I am not sure if the price gap between the same product sold in euros and dollars is the same as it was when the 1 = 1$ credit system was used. Based on what I understand from this thread, the same package costs 39.95 vs $49.95. For the extended licenses the prices are 63.99 vs $79.99. Both are ~15% more expensive in dollars at the current exchange rate... Isn't AS doing us all a favor now by paying in dollars, when the same product was sold for less in euros?

of course giving it a limited dataset can produce what may be derivative work
Exactly!
Let's take the worst case non-existent scenario and judge it all based on it. Let's ban all the kitchen knives because very occasionally someone is got killed with them.
The talk was about legitimate companies that allow commercial use because they are sure such cases are too rare (and their goal is to bring them to zero eventually, it's been few months!), not some garage AI.
And even in that overblown unimaginable case with 1 input of data, it may not be creating a derivative, if you have to draw a tree there is no way you can draw it any other way than in a shape of a tree. And if you've seen only one tree ever then well what would you expect. But it doesn't copy-paste nor collage anything - this is not how it works at all.
No, it's not a non-existing scenario. This scenario is very much valid for those contributors who create really unique content. If their unique content is allowed in the AI training set, then the AI output will simply be plagiarism. No problem with sliced tomatoes, hamburgers, or business people shaking hands, if that's your domain. On the other hand, if you don't just do business people handshaking hands, sliced tomatoes or hamburgers, but truly unique content, then it's in your best interest to opt out of any AI training scheme (even if they pay you 1 peanut), to avoid shooting yourself in the foot. And it's in the interest of all microstock companies to prevent this unique content to be used for AI training, or else they may face plagiarism lawsuits.

Repeating my sentence: "That is why copyright nonsense by stock sites doesn't make any sense, other than them trying to save their own existence. By being able to sue everything under the sun as Getty does."
COPYRIGHT NONSENSE REGARDING AI CONTENT, WE ARE IN THE THREAD ABOUT AI.
Sorry, it is very hard to convey ideas to someone who takes things out of contex and drives them into his own conversations with himself.
Yep, " everything under the sun". Obviously, you don't understand why Getty is suing (hence protecting their business and OUR work) assuming that their lawsuits are frivolous! Getty has a problem with AI companies using their database and OUR work without permission. Besides, the example and the white paper I showed you is another proof that you are wrong: when the training set is limited, AI may very well end up plagiarizing copyrighted work. So it doesn't generate only ideas and concepts, but also derivative work.

Because following this logic all works created by people are also "derivative" then because artist creates them after he got inspired by a mix of many kinds of "copyrighted" things he has seen before! Nothing ever is born in the vacuum.
Wrong.
It's a long-standing law principle that copyright does not protect ideas, concepts, systems, or methods of doing something, while it differentiates all this from derivative work.
Obviously you are not a lawyer and you didn't do your homework.
This is hilarious how you seem to be stalking my every message to say it wrong without reading it
Where did I say that copyright protects ideas?
Even that quoted by you sentence starts with words: following this logic (which is flawed as I described above)... etc.
Sorry, I cannot even follow your reply, because you reply on something I wasn't even talking about
If I need to repeat especially for you in a simple sentence: AI doesn't create derivative work, same as artist doesn't create derivative work, because memorising, learning and being inspired by something is not same as copy-pasting.
What are you talking about I don't know
Nah, check your statements. You were ranting about Getty, calling their copyright lawsuits nonsense, without understanding the difference between ideas, concepts, and derivative work, assuming that these are equivalent. Here is a clear example of an AI generated image that is not just an idea, but clearly derivative work: ... and the paper behind the study the example is coming from: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2301.13188.pdfPS. rest assured that you are not the belly button of the world. My reply was not about you, but about the error, you made in your post.

All I am saying is, that I just wish that all stock photographers who has relied on this income as I did, will better stop doing it asap. And try suplement it while there are still few months left of money coming in.
We can agree with that. As I said, stock photographers rehashing old concepts will have to give up.
But really new content, creative content that only humans can invent, will still be needed, and it will be better valued than today, when it's drowned into a see of replicas. This is a drawing I made yesterday during an AI centric presentation made by McKinsey group,
Please, tell us more about the story behind your drawing.
I think it's self explanatory. Today AI has a support function, while the core of the work is done by people. Tomorrow, the core of the work will be done by AI, while people will support the AI (training, creative input, strategy changes, etc). Besides the drawing, the fact is that today, a large part of the office jobs (~40%) are only demanding from people to follow relatively simple procedures, to understand the rules of the system, to avoid mistakes... Zero creativity, but 9-5, bonus, team-buildings, health-care coverage, etc All these jobs will disappear. AI will do all that 24/7, better, faster and much cheaper. So, requalification, skills upgrade, creativity are mandatory for those who want to survive. Hopefully, the productivity increase through automation will generate enough growth to maintain the area of the core and the donut about the same, offering enough employment to those willing to change.

No. It's realism. During that meeting, we discussed extensively with their AI experts, stuff you don't seem to want to understand.
What I don't understand? I completely agree with you saying:
"But really new content, creative content that only humans can invent, will still be needed, and it will be better valued than today, when it's drowned into a see of replicas."
And I referred to 1% of exceptional work that will still remain relevant.
I won't be that arrogant to consider myself or anyone who is doing stock photography to be that 1% of visionaries. But you are welcome
Though also... selling your future coming groundbraking concepts for 0.10 cents on stock sites seems a bit strange to me
And if people still need pizza pics because they eat pizza, not some concept food, there is no need to invent the wheel, there is just a need to generate the most photorealistic yummy pizza - that is all that is needed. And no photographer is needed for that anymore.
P.S: and no stock site is needed for that anymore either! Ever again.
Then all is good. We can debate if it's only 1%. And no, I have no long term expectation from this. I will just go along with it for as long as it will last, as I always said since I first started, about 10 years ago. Moreover, I have no plans to become part of that small percentage of surviving photographers, even if they will end up being in high demand and better paid than today.
