General Stock Discussion / Re: November Stats
« on: December 02, 2012, 04:48 »
Decent month. Not spectacular, not bad either.
Noteworthy - I had a BME at 123rf. Even though it is all small numbers. 123rf was not too far off from DT and FT - but I have only half the images on 123rf compared to DT and especially FT.

Overall an average month for this year.
BME for dls (not revenue) at SS, BME at 123rf (though this does not mean much, it is on a very low scale). Average month at DT and the second worst month of the year at FT (last Oktober my income at FT was almost 3times what it is now). Still not very enthusiastic about uploading new images... .

September was worse than August for me, but it was not the worst month of the year. SS was decent, FT and DT did ok (FT only compared to the rest of the year - my monthly income there is now less than 50% of what it was last year at this time). Had a BME in terms of dls at 123rf - but not in terms of income. Did not upload a single image to any agency this past month.

August was a good month compared to the others.

BME at Shutterstock and a rather decent one at DT. FT is not recovering from the downward turn it took earlier this year. I used to reach payouts with them every month - not anymore - not even with selling an EL. Almost had a BME at 123rf, but on a very very low level (still building my portfolio there).

« on: August 01, 2012, 03:30 »
slightly better than last month, but mainly due to SS outshining all others. For me the worst developments have been FT and DT since April. FT, which used to bring in 2/3rd of my income now brings in a 3rd of what SS brings in.  Overall, I'd say my total earnings dropped by a 3rd since the beginning of the year.

SS has overtaken FT as my best earner ever since I moved into a new earnings rank. FT was ok, DT was shockingly low - about half of what I had made in the last three months, which was also just half of what I had made in January (which was my BME). Also what was weird was that most of my earnings this month came in the last week of the month . Until then I had hardly made the 5$ mark.

BME at DT, great RPD: 2.16 $
average but good month at SS
for the first time in ages (or ever since I started in microstock) FT comes in third with earnings (they used to bring 2/3 of my microstock income, now they bring less than 1/3 - with the largest portfolio available)
123rf  - low earner still

My postcards have been here for a few weeks. I hope to send them out in the next days - I've been sick the last two weeks. Sorry :(

My Stats may be insignificant, Lisa, but here they are anyways.
I had stopped uploading after IS announced the RC system (plus, my main job required attention).
Then suddenly after March 2011 my sales at IS started to plummet dramatically, sometime hardly making me 20$ a month (on a port with 300 images). I deactivated my images in September 2011. I do not miss 20-25$ a month. SS performed really well for me in Oct and Nov, the other agencies performed ok. Not sure if that has any relation with me leaving IS though.

General Stock Discussion / Re: How was your 2011?
« on: January 01, 2012, 14:26 »
My overall sales were down from 2010 because I dropped istock. But sales increased slightly at SS, with the last quarter rocking. DT was down slightly and BigStock was almost exactly the same as last year. Considering I only uploaded less than 50 new photos last year, I am pleased that sales are holding.

My experience is similar. My income went down by about 20% (don't have exact numbers). FT, my income leader lost quite a bit and I dropped Istock in August. I also only uploaded about a 100 images to my port as I focused on getting my degree finished. So considering all that, I am quite pleased with what I had. I am not sure I'll invest too much energy into microstock in the next year, am considering going a bit into fine art/ print on demand. But we'll see.

Why, I do not know, but it was this pink heel that sold on SS.

Little story. When I participated in the MSG-PPEX a few of you never seemed to have received my card. Well, I thought it might be nice to surprise the participants with a Holiday card. Prepared it, designed it, ordered it. Looked for the file with the addresses on it - could not be found on my PC - apparently it was not included in the backup I made before my laptop died in March. Looked for it on here, could not find it either. Well, dear all - this is how it would have looked! Enjoy it anyways and ...

Happy Holidays!

Nice Madelaide!

Yes, Ann, shot with a monopod, though I shot most of my Christmas lights in town handheld even. But this cheap mono and my small Canon G12 work well together. :D

Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season!

Thanks Cora for pointing this out. I found one of my images that is not even for sale on any agency (it was hotlinked to from my blog) up there (watermarks included).  It was one of my concert images.   :o

While not as impressive as Dr. Mellimage, I did finally make it to the .38 club at SS (well, I made enough earnings, I haven't actually gotten any .38 yet).
A nice Milestone, Tom! Congrats. Hope you get a lot out of it now in the strong season of the year.

Thank you all, I am quite relieved it went so well.
Being done with that also means I can soon write that review of Nicole's book.

Thanks everyone - I may have a bit more free time (specifically for digging through my backlog of photos and also shooting more) after the submission deadline next Friday - in between I still got to do some inter-continental travel (currently writing from the US) and some editing on the book.
