Istock is down again. And ofcourse, the dreaded webpage has returned...

Thanks for visiting the 1979 version iStockphoto. Were working to get the site back to the future as quickly as we can. In the meantime, check out the coupon code below and be sure to come back soon.

That thing doesn't usually update properly sometimes that I've noticed. If you're on firefox you can see the graph and should be able to hover your mouse over the graph dots to see how many downloads. Sound like they might be ELs. I've had 2 there before and they garnered me a little over $6.00 a piece.
It did update. It showed 2 downloads, so I think you're right. $6 for an EL, how lame At least I'm nearing a payout...

Is it a W8-BEN form? Why can't you just fill it in as an 'Individual', thus not requiring an ITIN?

I just had $12,50 added to my account (which is an unusually high amount, at once, at VS), but I can't seem to figure out which images were downloaded. My account page only shows the latest image sold. But I would like to see a big list of which images were sold, and when, and how much $ I got for each download.
Is there any chance this might get implemented in the near future?

You guys should find some financial investors, because you can't wait 5+ years for a company to flourish, especially not in the stock industry. It takes aggressive marketing and advertising to get those customers in and make some sales. Exactly what are you waiting for? You now have the 1 million+ images, a decent website, quality images, now DO something with it.

I have yet to get a Single Image download. Is it taking off at all?

Why do we need to provide ITIN to DP for contributors from countries with tax treaty with USA?
Shutterstock, Fotolia, istock, RF123, Canstock, Bigstock and almost every other microstock don't require such a condition. They have found out we don't need ITIN.
Applying ITIN is such a pain. You practically need to hire a lawyer or accountant in USA to help you with it which easily costs you $250. A friend has tried to do it himself. His applications were rejected by IRS 3 times with little reasons given.
According to DP we're going to face 30% tax withheld without ITIN.
You don't need an ITIN. I'm not from the US (my country has a 0% tax treaty with the US) and I didn't have to apply for an ITIN either. Make sure you fill in this form as in individual to prevent any hassles.

After a dead October and November, I got one $15 sale around Christmas and two $6 sales this year already. I like the higher prices and the higher royalty-%. Granted, sales are very slow, but since uploading with StockSubmitter is easy, I'll stick with them.
I'm curious what their new layout will bring; more customers? more traffic? more sales? Let's hope so.

I'm staying in as well. Uploading takes no time (I upload to all sites at once) so there's nothing to lose. But I think more marketing couldn't hurt.

Clearly a case of iStockholm syndrome. Worship the monster that bites you. Come to think of it, it's much like North-Korea.

If I hadn't lost my patience with this pathetic Istock-site already, I'd lose it now. I want to see my stats, my proper balance and my last downloads. NOW.
Didn't you read what Lobo wrote? "Let's all save the time it takes to post unhelpful complaints and wait for news."
Yeah, waiting, something Istock is very fond of. Waiting till eternity.

Hi All,
1. Paid downloads = creds + subs 2. If you have a good portfolio and are having good downloads, you can appeal ... 3. As long as you make the cut, your commission share will still be 50%
Hope everyone is clearer with the explanation above.
Alex.
Please answer the following questions: 1. Why didn't we get to hear this via a site e-mail or a frontpage announcement? Not every contributor reads the MSG forums. 2. Why didn't you announce it 3 months prior? 3. Why punish contributors with a commission cut anyway? Contributors should be rewarded for being at 123RF, not penalized.

I have 118 files at 123RF, so I won't be making it to 150. I think this is a lame move, because any commission cut is a 'punishment' for its contributors, no matter what excuse you might have.
And pushing us to upload more sounds more like a threat ("make it so 150 OR we will cut your commission") rather than an reward.
Too bad, 123RF, I was just starting to like you because of the sales. Also, why didn't I receive an e-mail? Why do I have to find out on this forum? At least you should communicate this to ALL your contributors, at least 3 months prior.

I think you don't need to enter these characters, just the words will do; AFAIK, comma's, dots, tildes and other symbols can be ignored.

About 20 of my 100+ images are missing. I already sent a support ticket, but no answer.
In one of the IS forum topics I read they don't respond to those e-mails anymore (lame) because they're 'working on it'.
Yeah, 'working on it'. I've heard that one before...

If they don't, what will you do as a contributor? If they do, will the gesture do anything to boost your trust?
I can't do anything really. And no, my trust in them is long gone.

Meanwhile on the Istock Help forum: http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=337695&page=1JJRD says: At this time, it would be fair to look at this as a positive moment.
Yes, some contributor related issues remain ; we are looking to stabilize the website from a client perspective right now, and most members of the technology team are hard at work making sure the platform is stable for the NA night and the beginning of the European day.
In the name of iStockphoto's management, I want to express our willingness at offering everybody involved with iStockphoto a stable platform to license and or share digital media, and we do apologize for the difficult phase that we are going through.
Rest assured that our only goal is to take this business to its next level, solve everything related to legacy technological issues while remaining the undisputed leader of the industry.dcdp asks:(...) Additionally, the buyers have been offered a 15% discount on credits purchased because of this outage as a short term apology for their difficulties. I suspect this will be worn by the contributors who have not only suffered from an ongoing inability to manage their own portfolio, upload images, and maintain their portfolio, but now have been unable to sell anything because, in the case of exclusive contributors, their sole distributor is off line. What will iStock do to recompense contributors?JJRD replies: Let's focus on clients at this stage, come on - the site just came back. ---------------- Okay, apparently, they have not fixed anything and we're not getting anything as compensation.

That looks like someone hacked the site seeing how they aren't even calling it iStock......iStache??
It's a pun on 'moustache', from the 'Movember' event, where people can grow a Moustache to collect money for cancer research. Apparently, Istock is participating.

I don't understand the childish and unprofessional behavior. The twitter page seems to be run by one person who speaks like an individual, and the error page treats both contributors and clients as if they are 8-year olds. Do they really think people will laugh at their "funny" monsters and 1979 jokes? Many companies around the world rely on Istock for their images. They have deadlines to meet, projects to finish, yet Istock thinks we all live in a happy little joyful candyland where business and economics is of secondary importance. They don't seem to care what kind of message this conveys. Not just the downtime in itself is horrible, but the way they present it is horrible as well.
