Seriously, they have all it takes to win - great interface, search, fresh content, recognizable brand, contributors' support. The last one may turn out to be the most important these days. Pond5 give fair 50%, allow to set your own prices and have clear distribution network.
... horrendous site design for buyers, lousy interface for sellers, unable to stop input mechanism from converting uppercase letters to lowercase after years of requests ... They have things to work on.

Yogurt keeps you regular.
As far as uploading practices, I mean.

Well, due to the fact that there is no exif import, I decided to give image packs a whirl to see what happens. You can see my start here: https://creativemarket.com/seanlockephotographyBasically, I priced them between GL's medium and large times the number of images, with a slight discount for bulk. I'll let you know if anything sells. I hope the cover images showcase well.

Recently, one of agency/distributors I deal with received a claim in regards to a property image in my portfolio that I took several years ago (a bed and breakfast). The agent/distributor is requesting from me specific information about the shot. Can I be liable in any way for this claim? Just wondering. Thanks
Tell them you want details of the claim. I assume you don't have a release?

It's great to see the enthusiasm.

Yeah, walk around with your camera and point it at stuff and keep clicking, upload 10s of thousands of whatever comes out and some of it will probably find buyers.
Actually it's called Street Photography and there's still demand for it.
I think there's a difference between interesting documentary "street photography", and "here's the fence down the road from me, and this is the building next to it, and here's another, and here's the sign on the building" that some Alamy contributors do.

I've never started on Alamy (well, I tried it out at one point), because most of what I read in the forums is people finding their work in European publications, realizing they never got paid for it, and the trouble they seem to have getting the fee. And the discounts, which seem to result in a few dollars for extensive RM rights. I don't have the time to deal with that kind of thing.

I love waking up in the morning not knowing what I'm gonna do or who I'm gonna meet. Just yesterday I was sleeping under a bridge, and today I'm on the grandest message board in the world drinking champagne with you fine people.

Sure, just term it a 3 year or whatever term license. Mission accomplished.

Isn't this under the video forum?
AFAIK, there is no IPTC data associated with video clips. Why is everyone complaining about that?
I assign data in bridge to video and it shows up just fine on the other end.

"Brand new photographer"
Why are you worried about the stock business? Learn your camera, go shoot and have fun!

Lol, I doubt it's in our interests to train you to train a factory. Use this thing called 'the internet' to learn.

It's just the effect of new contributors taking huge numbers of sales away from established players. If 10 new people upload and start getting 1,2,3 sales, they repeat 'large increases' while the aggregate takes down the older contributors.

"If I tried to make images that are "in demand" I would not enjoy it and that would be reflected in lousy work."
Lots of people are doing things they may not 'enjoy' and still do excellent work. Just because your 'passion' is not necessarily served by shooting someone I a suit, you could (hopefully, as a professional) still produce work that feeds your family. The whole 'enjoy' thing is a bit of a cop out.

I have never used a template. I do all my editing on that main upload page. Yes, you can reset the price at any time. Never made a collection or worried about thumbnails.
The system was originally made for videos, and they forced it to work for photos. Hopefully, they'll take some of their recent windfall and update the site.

This is a contributor with 385 images and between 300 and 400 sales. If 5 sales a month seems good to you (it isn't) then I guess exclusivity might be for you too
The OP is in the same-ish boat with 1000 images and around 25 sales a month... http://www.istockphoto.com/user_view.php?id=2411778Honestly, just read the July thread and notice the only happy people are the ones who are going from 0 dls a day to 1.

I find thousands of my images in use all over the place. When I have time I select the odd few and verify with the buyer that they have a licence (and the correct licence). Obviously if i find an possible infringement, they would be one of the few, I havent yet had a buyer not willing cooperate and prove a licence. Thats because I selected well.
I'm not sure going about the internet, harassing what are probably legitimate buyers, is a good idea. If you're that concerned, maybe RM is a better bet.
