Yes, there's the problem with painters as well. A huge problem in fact!  >:(

I have a close friend. One day we were watching my gallery and she got that great idea - she'll paint my images and sell it on PODs. When I told her she can't do this she did her eyes so huge! "What do you mean I can't paint your pictures?! It will be my work then, I'm not stealing yours!" Well, not really. This is still the same work just copied in another form.
More examples we can see on FAA and every other POD site, I'm affraid   :-\

I must be blind as I can't find it... Please tell me where is it :) I'm talking about client license agreement and not terms for contributor :)

Well, I finally have a reply from iStock. I have asked them if they can explain the sharp drop in sales.
Here is their answer - We recommend that contributors not only keyword properly but also shoot according to the creative briefs and really take a look at what is needed. iStock's collection grows every day and, while I understand your frustration,  it's become increasingly important to remain competitive be continuously uploading unique content.....

To this answer I replied by asking how come that my portfolio was good enough to create income some months ago and suddenly sales dropped to almost zero???
Waiting for an answer...

Over year ago I saw that my sales dropped there a lot and I asked iS what happened. They said the same - upload more work, everything is just fine, just work more and sales will come (maybe)... Many bad things were going on with iS at that period and their answer was like the stop dot at the and of sentence - time to give up.

And that's why I dream about traveling in time with my private top secret vehicle! I would take my HD with images and just enjoy mass downloads that days... Old days gone, a lot has changed... unfortunately   :'(

I send you PM so we do not spoil this thred more ;)

One more thing that I can't leave out, I'm confused - if it's up to photographers to set their own license term for clients (agreement or whatever we call it in english), where do we (authors) upload it and where/ when client can get it? I'm worry if it's not to much for them (clients) to read all different agreements for every image/ author...  :-\
Can you give us details and tell in few easy words how does it work there? I'm sorry if this info is on the site already, I can't find it :)

Samards, maybe you'd like to show us some rejected files to see what we are talking about? :)

Max, I understand your confusion :) All I can say now is - I don't want to wait over 5 (five!) years to reach $50 :) Not interested and that's it :)

I do not understand why close your account. They do NOT cheat you. You uploaded ALREADY. Work is done. Does not make sense to me.
And now with a new design, maybe new features stockfresh might have success. Then you upload all images again?

Look at last Mantis's post with earnings and try to understand my thinking. Why borther with agency that doesn't work? Something that does not make sense to you doesn't mean it's wrong way... You don't understand something but I may have my personal reasons, like: "I don't like selling my files for pennies, especially when it is done occasionally once a month".
Yes, they don't cheat me but many low earn agencies are fair... is it enough reason to upload work to agency that doesn't work? Why don't everybody upload to ImageVortex or FeaturePics or others like that? I were with them like with dozens agencies and decided it's not good idea, so took my toys and go to another places... One basket with eggs is bad just like too many baskets as well...
If I remeber correctly I earned with SFR around $9 in 2-3 years and I really don't understand the reason to stay...

About new design, please, don't be naive. It's not the general point of marketing. And I don't want to offend anybody here!

And at the end, I really liked SF place at the begining. If they did anything to improve marketing to get clients and add option to set up own pricing, it would be just (almost) perfect place...

Cobalt good point!
Mine done meanwhile.

I've always said that a 50/50 split is fair for every sale. One size Image. let the buyer downsize, No subs. $5.00 Per Image...
I can get you a lot of very good shooters.

Excuse me but are you serious talking about very good sellers happy to sell their very good work for 2,5$ in high res.? Please, tell me it's irony only :)
Very good sellers or very mass sellers are you thinking about?

New Sites - General / Re: PIXYLOO Announcement
« on: February 09, 2015, 02:59 »
We have not officially launched yet.

We will begin contacting artists after the first of the new year to be a part of our official launch. I just added this notice to the application page to avoid any confusion and we will begin sending out email notifications stating the same. So, if you haven't been invited yet it doesn't mean we don't like your work.  :)

Any changes lately?

It's so quiet here, are people still waiting for contact? My application is still with no answer...

Max, some time ago some smart person here said that subs. option is killing this market. SF doesn't offer subs. so maybe that's why they don't success? Look at the column on right side to see how far they are on the earners list...

More in the fact. But it doesn't matter here. I'm glad I've made that decision, it was worth to risk :)

End of OT from me :)

Max, I focus on agencies that bring me money, not wasting my time. SF is WOT. They opened a very long time ago, promising more clients and better $ in future but this future is not coming... I don't think anything will change for them in next years just because they changes layout. In the fact it's very popular layout, iS has it, Alamy, SS and others too (try find diferences - game in that trend)... Nothing new ergo.

Why did I close account here? I closed dozens accounts on micros for personal/business reasons and as said above, I focus on real earners now. And not necessarily want work for pennies.

I'm not registered with Stockfresh. Is it worth uploading there?

No, it's not. At least I closed my account year or two ago becouse it was dead place. Sales occasionally and for cents. WOT.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Free is the new black

I'm going to ask baker in our town if he would bake bread for free if he loves doing this job... I wish we could get clothes and cameras for free too  :'(

What idiots would give away their work for free?  And how did it get to the point where people don't think you should have to pay for images?  Very sad.  The future is not bright.

Years ago I was on some gear forum and these "true artists" said it's not good to take money for their artistic work. It's like selling your soul, giving yourself for money like a b.''.ch  ::) Not much changed since then. These artists still believe they are doing something amazing and great for this world.
On the other hand there are children just playing and they have no idea how it (could) work for them.

4. 122 photographers and designers have done the same. (122 x 49 minutes)
...
6. 121 have earned 0.00 euros.

If I were this one and earned 500$ I definitely would try! ;)

121 another photographers is not a lot, when we competite on micros with milions images everyday...

245
Don't worry ultimagaina, it happens all the time, for all of us... Just keep it upload more... ;)  ;D

246
Ron, what is USP?

247
After some time playing I must say I like this site look a lot!

Next details in fast words, that I couldn't find and I'm sure clients will look for it too:
- let searching separate RF and RM licenses,
- it could be usefull to open file review when click mouse scroll wheel (at least mine can open new file this way on other sites ;) )
- fix the problem with small window with word "Licensed". It shows up when I edit pricing, located below 1000px, eclipse next size editing...
- please give me option to choose when I want to do payment. I know it's to early to talk about it, but worth try ;) I mean I wish to change my minimum payout limit higer than default sometimes to hold on transfer.
- option: manage your gallery, move chosen images to the top/down of your gallery (one up/down), show by date/recent added or oldest, by pricing, author's favourite, etc... or/and more advanced - set up catalogs. All visible to customers.

NorArt, thanks for invitation but this is what I get after email registration:

"Sorry, but the server encountered an error while processing your request."

After that I do backspace and I'm logged in, tadamm! I don't know if it's a bug but you may want check it out ;)

Edit,
first thing that I really miss here is bulk edit in selected parts, like set up license and pricing (default for all new uploads)...

249
What is your plan for marketing the platform and dealing with EU VAT?

You are asking for this third time (or more) and I start to see chasing rabbit just to never catch it  ;D
I'm waiting for reply too of course.

NorArt, I hope you'll hit the success in this market and we can be part of this and celebrate great deals together but so far nothing extremly new we got. This broken market needs really NEW thing.

Hi NorArt,

it's nice to see something new in stock world and I like your idea but you can't tell there's no middle man when you take any % of sale. As Sean said, this IS making you middle man! :)

And as it's said before, clients and photographers can contact directly with almost all agencies and often do, not a problem, just using fast click "send private message to author". I do it all the time using my symbiostock site, Alamy, personal gallery and other sites... So it's not so new thing in stock world :) Or I'm missing something here?  ???

I'm worry about self marketing here. We already have free site Picfair where we can set up our pricing, photoshelter (pretty cheap), symbiostock (almost free), etc and I never heard it gave mass sales to people. I mean it's a lot of work to advertise own gallery and hit and win with thousands other photographers in "small" internet.
How do you want to help us, authors in getting sales (if it's in plans)?
