Only who adapt well will survive... Most of the major companies have been adapting well, IMO. If you adapt well, you will survive too. hi i'm young noob photographer in microstock i've started from 3 months on SS and i'm continue to submti images to agencies but i have a question
For how long microstock photography will continue to exist? for many years? or it has already a end? someone know?

It's been giving problems for me for nearly a week now. So tired with their buggy uploading system.

I'm not a down voter either, but I think many people not happy with the fact that you started a separate thread to report your own sale of just a single day. There are more than one existing threads to report SS sales. Just imagine everyone start a new thread to report their own sales everyday... BTW, I always like to hear good sales from others. Congratulations! How many EDs?

...most rejected for out of focus and poor lighting. Here is a sample of my poorly lit image.
...because you cannot see the keywords in the image.
Really confused... what's the role of keywords here? You mean you cannot see the keywords due to poor lighting....?

My "best" rejection just 2 days ago:
- uploaded around 10 iceberg pictures to SS - used only the keywords from SS' own keyword guessing tool - get all 10 rejected because "too many irrelevant keywords"
maybe they test some kind of new artificial intelligence there ...
It's doesn't matter whether you use SS keyword tool or not, it's your responsibility to filter out irrelevant keywords. We can get a better idea if you can show us a sample picture and the keywords that you used.

My portfolio size is down by over 1000 images. What is going on?
1000 only? Lucky you! I miss over 4000 files!

More than 1500 files are missing. They should at least notify contributors when they are upgrading their site.

I noticed the same thing. Huge drop compared to yesterday. Glad I'm not the only one!
Really? If everyone reports a drop in sales, is it something to be glad about? Normally, I'm glad to hear that others are having a good day when mine is bad. Then I can still have some hope.

The number of sales is not so high, indeed, but April is a great month in terms of $! It is already my second best and with 2 days left, I might be able to break my previous record
Congrats! Good to hear that someone is doing good. At least I can have some hope.

ODD and SOD have been rare in April

And I feel better. Uploading was just a waste of time.
removed all photos from 123rf? probably that's why I'm getting increased sales these days

You can't buy your own content. That's entirely different. Shutterstock gives us the option to link to our own site!
And you cannot use your SS port to deliver your files to a selected person or a small group.

Personally, I think The Map is the silliest thing SS ever did.
On the other hand Getty gives me a detailed sales report showing not only the country but also the buyer's name for each sale.
I find it rather informative. In this time and age, I believe that all agencies have the capabilities to do it, if they choose to.
It can definitely help in fighting piracy.
Agree and thats great feature. SS wont do that. Cause we will find the buyers and sell direct, LOL
Don't you think that the customers could do that even now, if only they would want to buy direct? They could send you a private forum message asking for the photo they like. But that would be highly illegal.
Why is it illegal? No one is exclusive with them.

Image approved this morning already online. The others images are not there yet approved 2 days ago. That's not good. They're dead and buried when they get online.
Oh, really? then it's better to delete and resubmit them. I'm waiting for 3 days now.
I tried that and SS rejected the re-submitted images with a message on the lines of "please explain why you are re-submitting previously deleted images" so don't try it
Oh, really? Thanks for advice.

Everything went through just after posting. I have all my stuff online now. Approved 2 days ago, just got indexed, already at page 7. They didnt even get the chance to be on the front page.
Same thing for me !
Same here

I think that a bigger problem than your lack of technical skill (which definitely is a problem) is that you appear not to know that what you're looking at is not good - not good composition or lighting and generally without any clear subject. Without that basic eye for design and story telling you will have a hard time with illustration, 3D modeling, photography or anything visual.
You certainly have some determination to your credit. Sometimes people know their images aren't any good - not even nice snapshots - but they don't know how to make them better. That can be fixed by learning technical skills.
If you honestly thought these were pleasing images (forget even being good stock) then you need to wait to learn techniques until you have some notion of light, shadow, composition and telling a story visually.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I don't think it helps to sugar coat things.
And if you knew these images were awful, what made you think they might work as stock? Do some searches on Shutterstock or Stocksy and look at the images there. That's your competition.
Good luck
Perhaps we should actually start these threads by asking the OP what they think of their own work. Possibly the hardest thing to learn is the artistic skill of how to turn what is seen with the eye into an interesting, (and hopefully "sellable as stock") photograph. To actually look at what is in the viewfinder. Technical skills are relatively easy. Someone said here (I think) ages ago that they knew a skilled photographer who could take shots of the most mundane subjects and make money out of them.
"Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph." - Matt Hardy

And if someone uses an IP blocker, it will put the thumbnail in the ocean next to Africa on the left.
I thought most of my files were downloaded from a pirate ship sailing around Cape Verde.

Happening again, is it only me? I kind of have a feeling that SS do it intentionally, once every week may be, to give all the images enough exposure before get sunk.

No single OOD and SOD in last week, which is very strange and disappointing.
Seems like SS agents do not read this forum anymore, so no point of complaining. It has come to a point either you keep contributing or go away with your files and make better use of them elsewhere.
