# If i close my account on Getty/Istock the images on Promo.com will be remove? #

Thats the point!
Before I close my account on iStock, I have to know it!
If not - what to do? Luckily I didnt submit my best work to iStock.
But 32 images as Partner (Getty) photos via eyeEm are for free on Promo.com, too. I asked eyeEm already to take them from Getty & eyeEm market.
But also in that case, I do not know, if these 32 photos will get delete on Promo.com too.

First I did not think it has something to do with this, but now:
I just found out that i had 10 sales on iStock - ALL for 0,02. (With filename and dates and thumbs. They were sold in October.
And ONE SALE for 0,000000000 and 0% Even no filename.

But I did not get any information from iStock about that. Not on the app not in ESP, but I found them on Deepmeta.

Strange!
Might be these images got sold on Promo.com and at least paid??? Could be also just sub-sales as described on Deepmeta.

Shutterstock footage: I just two weeks ago deleted my only one footage on Shitterstock. I cannot find it on Promo.com. Seems like they deleted it on Promo.com too or it was never selected for Promo.com.

Microstock News / Re: Zoonar is launching Zoonar.Express
« on: December 25, 2020, 07:43 »
Is it possible to opt out from Zoonar express?

My idea was to get highest RPD on Zoonar, thats why I wanted to give them a month or so exclusive before I upload them to other agencies.
With this idea I could later on opt in into Zoonar express? - But first opt out - possible?

228
We contacted Promo.com already, but does anybody already contact Getty/iStock/Shitterstock about this? And what were their answers - also in case of a law suit? Any terms again that allows them to do it and we didnt read or didnt understand about the consequences for us?

229
ALL either >:(

But I couldnt find any of my Shitterstock portfolio.
Can I do it the same way: portfolio name+keyword like Bali?

Contact them and ask them where they got your photograph.

Just for background info:

Promo also said:

# From our side, we are not offering exclusive license for any footage, our customers can include the footage into the video, add their text, logo and music and download it. Download as stock footage with us is regarded as violation of terms of service #

So our photos/videos are for free on Promo, but used photos/videos are not allowed to sell as stock.

232
Promo:
# We would suggest you reach out directly to Shutterstock / Istock . All content provided to our customers by Promo is licensed for use so best step would be to reach out to them on that content's use. #
Me:
Of course, thats my second plan. But you might already be able to clarify, if the photos now owned forever by Promo or not. for a contract are two sides needed and both should know the answer to my question.

Looks like a copy of your text above. LOL
No wonder

I just wrote in a chat with the support team of Promo as follows - Maybe to offence from me, but maybe also it could help to bring them thinking about what they do and which whom they are making business.

# Sorry for more questions: I plan to close my portfolios on Shutterstock, Getty and iStock ( I found nearly all my photos from iStock in your library, because Getty offers them to you!).. After closing my accounts there, my photos will be removed from your Promo website, too? Or did these agencies get one instant payment from Promo, so that Promo now owns my photos? On Forums it is discussed very much just now and many contributor will come together to make a lawsuit against that agencies - eventuelly also against Promo. Just to inform you how sensitive the theme is and what will go on soon. #

234
# I send a request to iStock to remove my photos from Promo.com. #

They will do?
I dont think so!

The only way we have: Closing the portfolio totally!
But how can we prove the photos and videos will then also disappear on Promo?

I just signed in on Promo and there are free trails tools. So I will be able to check if they will disappear or not.

235
As we all could guess:

Because Getty also offers images from iStock to their customer, why not also to Promo?!

I just found nearly all of my Getty premium photos (via eyeEm) are offered

AND

many (all?) photos from iStock, offered from Getty!
That means: We can say, it is the same like iStock offers all our photos and videos also for free!

Interesting: The first images I found from my iStock portfolio were third selection (my own selection)  from my photos and that shot!
With other words: I guess Promo at least get all images from iStock for free.
Hey that bad photos from me: There were 6 sister shots - all to bad in my mind to upload to Adobe or other better agencies!

236
Getty! NOT iStock !!!!!
I asked explicit for it and he clarify: only Getty -  not iStock.

237
I just chatted with someone from the support team of Promo and found out following:

Free photos / videos / templates / and so on:

Only from Shutterstock and Getty

And only from their premium section.*

SS & G decide which they want to give for free.

# we get all of them from Shutterstock and Getty Images and have more than 23'000'000 clips in our library. #

* # Most of the videos are premium, but we have more than 150'000 non-premium videos as well. #

# We have now integrated with Unsplash to offer 1 500 000+ high-quality photos right inside your video. All photos are free for you!! #

If we want to search for our photos and videos, if they are offered for free, we have to sign in and purchase a monthly package, use a tool and then we can see / view / search for our photos and videos.
# I'm afraid there's no (other) way to check, #

# Reselling of the videos you create is Promo is only possible with our Pro plans. The rest of plans is designed for ads creating for 1 business only. #

238
#I also saw some of my images there#

How were you able to see / search for them?
Any link?

@ liquidsnake:

I would wait with the lawsuit and find more contributor whos work also sold for free on that site and then build a group lawsuit - cheaper and has more weight = better chance to win.

In case Bad Robot is right, that changing filenames does not help for SEO and ranking and copyright names even get removed from most agencies, both have now need to do.

Might be I missunderstood Googles new system, which collects ITPC data for easier search/publish copyright names?

On the other side there are people saying, Google is very important for ranking and others say, since 2013 Google is not important in that case anymore - until now.

The problem is, who we can trust?

One more fact, that nobody cares about the creater/contributor/copyright owner. I cannot get yet why? Well, removing copyright names I understand why, but all which helps for a better ranking should be a win win for agencies and contributor, isnt it?

Same like not informing contributor about best keywording. Instead of general information, special information are also very important and needed for contributor - like Adobe the weight of the first keywords and so on.
I have seen my own that Adobe and other agencies (not many) changes or add keywords to our images. So, might be they decide which image is good for them to show and support with their added keywords? Then I can understand it. Images which are in Adobes mind not that salable, they will not work on it. Better or best images, which have bad keywords, they add and change the keywords. Could that the idea behind? So that bad images wouldnt get up in ranking because of best keywords? Makes sense for me.

241
In their terms it is written that you will get all money you might get in that time. They write that that is the reason they will delete your email account information at the very last.

242
another try with the attachment ;D

243
#I'll try to keep this short and simple. You are saying that if you have a copyright name in a file IPTC, the image is rejected at Wirestock and disappears? But if you remove that data, it goes through fine?

Where in IPTC do you have that copyright data, there are pages and many places that you could have that. What field specifically? I don't want to cause an error myself, but you don't say where it is in your IPTC data?#

Uncle Pete, you are right, I was not clear enough. Sorry, did not sleep 2 days, lol.
Well, the copyright name I filled in on Lightroom first, then I filled in the title and keywords on Stocksubmitter. If I open the image again on Lightroom the copyright name and the keywords appears in the right order. If I do not safe it again on Lightroom, the keyword order will not change to alphabetical order.

So might be I should have said that the uploaded images on wirestock, which directly disappear after 100% upload - not appear in the to submit folder, because of the filled in copyright name on Lightroom (not Stocksubmitter).

The order of keywords (filled in with Stocksubmitter) you got me right: #first word become last and last word becomes first#
I send Wirestock example images via email and into the to submit folder, so that they can check that with the keywords. They are still working on it - 2 weeks now or so. And yes, I am not upset with Wirestock in that case, because they are always thankful to get response like this, so that they can investigate it and work on their system to make it better.

--> Something went wrong with the upload from picture attach. I will try again later.

Adobe Stock / Re: Best keyword strategy in Adobe stock
« on: December 22, 2020, 21:20 »
Really? 49? Only 1 keyword decide about it?

Some images need 50 keywords, but if the difference is that much if reduce it to 49, okay! Good to know!

BTW: to know: No agency clarify detailed how to use keywords at its best on their site. Isnt it stupid? If they give the information and the contributors follow that advice, then the agency also benefit from it!

1 month decide about the ranking:
I repeat my idea: It might be better to delete old images even if we changed the keywords to its best (after that 30 days), because the rating is very important.
For instance it makes everything chaotic and i.g. Adobe will be upset seeing contributors doing that: delete and upload/submit again. But we cannot say the system was wrong - The agency which did not give enough information about it was wrong.
What is the benefit for the agency NOT to tell the best way for keywording?

Jo Ann,

keep cool! 8)
It is not shitterstock, who gave us only 6 days to decide what to do!
On eyeEm the changes get effect on 1th February - nothing changes until then. So take your time to delete your portfolio.

I have great experiences when i was emailing with the eyeEm team. So i decide to keep cool and wait minimum 1 night of sleep, then tell them my opinion and what else they could do instead of cutting artists share.
Yes, we could get frustrated after shitterstock. Some of us still had the hope, they would change the set to level 1 on January so that it will not happen. But that was shitterstock, who really does not care on their artist.
My first reaction on eyeEm email was: S...t! Another agency doing that treatment. eyeEm?????? Unbelievable! What a shock!
But I just decided myself where I want to put my new focus on - including away from eyeEm, who will not get my newest images anymore. Then I got this email!

But it is also a good move to delete portfolios on eyeEm now. I really still have a small hope, that they will react different to shitterstock. And luckily we still have little bit time and eyeEm also have little bit time to review their new payment system.
If their answer is: No way back and no alternative, then I leave them too.

It seems like only Getty still select images from eyeEm. On Alamy very very long time no new images from eyeEm, also long time not on Adobe.
Getty select images like they want and WHEN they want: It took me 2 month until Getty took 26 images (from around 50) in only one day. It was an exciting day, because hourly more got selected. Since then they only took 6 more images from my selected images - 107 minus 32 = 75 are still waiting in the selected for partner section - some of them already 7 month.
I got one sale for 2.20 usd - payout (RPD). Not to bad compared with penny sales like others get.

eyeEm was my favourite agency for many reasons. but the email today shocked me totaly. I am also thinking about concentrating on other agencies. eyeEm lost its atmosphere and soul with the new payment level system.

That they are NOW starting to lie to all in a bad way is obviously after I read their reason:
from the email:
#We wanted to let you know that we are updating our Terms of Service for Photographers. From next February, we will be introducing a new payout structure designed to reward our top-selling photographers more and support EyeEm's future. #
We also can read behind the lines :'(: We treat the bad selling photographers now. Go away with your bad selling images, which only cost much money to save. :'(

#Which Level will be applicable to your future sales, is defined on a quarterly basis, based on the total sales of the previous 12 months. By default new users will start in Level 3 for a period of 12 months after registration.
The sale of a license and your Level will be displayed in your user account. You may choose to receive an in-app notification.

Payout Level            Payout Level 4/Payout Level 3 /Payout Level 2 /Payout Level 1
Revenue Threshold    $0 - $299          $300 - $2,999  $3,000 - $6,999     $7,000+
License Revenue Share   25%                  35%                   45%                   55%

Bad Robot, you say on one side:

#NO filenames have no bearing on SEO/ranking/google ranking#

But then you write: # I just name the file and add metadata as I see fit#
Name it in the meaning of changing filename with keyword title? For what, if it have no bearing on SEO...
Or name it in the meaning of title in the metadata?

# I add copyright info including name contact details etc in the metadata and I've never had a problem# Strange that we have different experiences. I will give it a new try with some other images. But in my case indeed all with copyright names disappeared directly. If no copyright name, but with producer name, no problem.
But it might be also a general problem of reading the stocksubmitter metadata for wirestock. The keyword order I used in stocksubmitter, ALWAYS changed to the opposite  on wirestock - most important keywords appears at the end. And sometimes they are just mixed without any rule. Also for that I send them example images and they are still investigate it.

Thank you Uncle Pete, again reply on a question from me :)

#Where is the copyright information in the IPTC that Wirestock won't accept? Do they refuse the images or do you man they take it out?#

When I upload images to wirestock with the copyright information in the IPTC, then they DIRCTLY disappear after the upload - same like error upload. I asked them about this when I did not yet know why they just disappear after 100 % upload. I also sent them an example image via email to check it. But no answer yet. That happened before for other reasons: to long title or to many keywords (51 instead of 50). Thats why I checked these on stocksubmitter again and saw that I put the copyright name on these images. ( I newly do it, because I did not know about the necessary before) So I found out that that must be the reason. I took the copyright name out and upload again and it passed / appear in my submit folder on wirestock.

Your link is in deed interesting. Unfortunately the filenames are not visible to check if there are images uses normal filenames or titled/keyword filenames. But it seems to be good to use title/keyword filenames wherever because we cannot definitely know which agencies are using it. Well, one time change the filename and upload to all is one time work. But I would not do it for the lower quality images.
But I also learned: If I will create a own website in the future, then these titles/keywords in the filename are very important and THEN of course the copyright name either.
