Crestock.com / Re: Crestock - new owner?

In a HOLDING PATTERN with Crestock.  Waiting to see what, if anything, Masterfile does to regain the reputation hugely tarnished by the old owners.

AGREED.

SS has hit a wall - even with "feeding the beast" and a larger portfolio (3500+).  DT has actually declined a bit.

IS and FO (or FT) have been steady.  Maybe slight growth.

Exclusive contributors get HUGE priority on reviews than us normal folks.  I would not be surprised if Exclusives are getting same day reviews.  It's a big conspiracy I tell you - hahaha.

Hey if they reject 48% of my 30 uploads, now they can reject 54% of my 38 uploads, and I'm still left with 15-16 new images added to my port per week.  I'm such a pessimist.

Whether it's $30K or $100K, I'd effing take half either way.  That's just an insanely great number.

Yeah - definitely slower.  Summer slump or a longer term trend.  I hope for the summer slump!!!

I always think that it is IS's way of saying "we don't want the image".  If you have to view it at anything over 100% I think that too is wrong.  But alas, they make the rules, and the rejections.  So it's an effing Artifact!!!

How dare you imply I have a life!!!  hahaha  At times it seems it's only microstock - so sad.

New Sites - General / Re: Fstockphotos

Keywords are screwy.

Business:  a fish market, a pretty girl in tall grass
Elephant:  still seeing a two zebra with no elephant image
Education:  architects, groups a older people (maybe students, maybe drop-outs, IDK)

Pass.

I like the SUB restriction to Med and below!!!  Always thought that was needed.

Even different Sub packages:  Med and below = 0.35;  Large and below = 0.45; XL and below = 0.55

Something like that, where the buyers determines his "usual" need of image size.

Copyrights expire after a number of years - like 75 in the US, I think.  Just buy really old maps on eBay and you should have no problem - just let the reviewer know its age.

The BEST computer???

The one which does what you want it to do, when you want to do, at the speed you are comfortable with, and does not cause undue heartache.

Had five in December (saved my bacon!!).  And two today.

Seems odd for sure, but I'll take it.

There are no big 6, that's what's confusing.

SS
DT
IS
FT

That's the top 4.  Beyond that, you're stretching.

BigStock
123
StockXpert
CanStockPhoto

That's the next level - stuff you can occasionally get money from.

CS, FP, YM, MP, ZM, SV, etc. are all the "good luck" places.  That's just how it generally shakes out.  Everyone's port is different but that's the basics.

Right, except StockXpert. It belongs to Top 5.

In fact the truth is: (in no particular order)

IS
SS

then;
DT
StockXpert
FT

then;
123rf
BigStock
maybe CanStockPhoto

then the rest...

Actually, success for an image should be tied to success for your entire portfolio across all sites.  On this basis an image must make not only its own production costs but also enough to help carry under performing images in the portfolio.

To be successful you have to somehow pay for the production costs of the whole portfolio so the successful images have to be successful enough to pull up the average earnings of all the images.

Does this make sense?

fred

This is a great way to think people.  It's a comprehensive portfolio of images.  A single image portfolio isn't the goal.  The entire portfolio must average WHAT PER IMAGE? to be successful.  My goal is $20/image on average across my WHOLE PORTFOLIO.
