I think I read on the SS forums that it went live on the 6th. I guess I can't blame my poor sales for the month on the new search. I suppose it's time to feed the be beast.  ;D

I hate it. My downloads have tanked since the beginning of the month. Also, the name alone is confusing. If I was a new buyer, I would never think Most Popular is really what everyone else call best match.

If you read the entire bill, it's actually not bad. Sure it could be abused, but so can existing laws. The US internet infrastructure is woefully protected and it wouldn't take much to reek havoc on our entire infrastructure. Think about it, everything is wired these days, power grids, traffic control systems, phone systems and just about everything else that makes the country run.

I'd bet that many of our Representatives probably couldn't even turn on a computer(John McCain comes to mind) let alone understand a cyber security bill but I'm glad someone is at least trying to address the issue.

That's just my 2c.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Inspiration?
April 02, 2009, 14:01
Thanks for all the suggestions, I like the journal idea. It's so obvious, can't believe I didn't think of it.

Now I just have to figure out how to keep it dry in the shower.  ;D

General Stock Discussion / Inspiration?
April 01, 2009, 16:34
I posted this on another forum but I thought I'd get your thoughts as well.

I've been out of the game for a while but have slowly started uploading again. My biggest problem is a lack of inspiration. I can't seem to come up with enough ideas to get my port. going. I'm going to be wife/kid free for a week and want to really concentrate on doing stock but I'm short on ideas. It seems some people can submit as many images in a month as what's in my total portfolio. So what's your inspiration?

Still no PC-sync, I really wish they would put one on. Can't beat that price though. It's going to be hard to justify the extra 2 grand for the new 5D.

Adobe Stock / Re: Payments on Fotolia

I'm having the same problem, I also requested payout on June 16 and still nothing. I wonder if they had some sort of glitch that day. Support isn't much help at all either, after contacting them a couple of times all they said was to give them more time.  I also did submit a scan of an ID.

Just another simple site built as a reason to list a bunch of referral links.

What's wrong with that?

I think it's a very well put together site, makes me want to update mine.

yeah, I've almost got time travel figured out, but I'm not even close on figuring out  acceptance/rejections.
#36
I try to time them so I get them around the same time, hopefully before my credit card bill, seeing as I've already spent the money. :)

Looks like you had a couple of phrases in there that got broken up into individual keywords, maybe that's what flagged it. Other then that and a couple of other borderline keywords( nothing I would consider spamming though), it looks fine to me.
#38
It seems DT is actively trying to fix their filters.  The ones that were a problem earlier today are gone and I haven't seen any inappropriate ads in any other images, at least in my own portfolio.

Achilles,

Thanks for the update.

Unfortunately, there is still a problem. Crabs has been replaced by Herpes, again, on some of the children images in my portfolio. This really isn't acceptable. I don't have a problem with the ads, it is a business after all, but those filters should really be worked out before the system is made live. Having sensitive subjects appear next to children, or anyone for that matter, is definitely not a good thing.

I've got the same ad appearing on some of my images. I'm really not happy since the ad is appearing on the image of my of my child models. I don't know how I'd explain that one to a parent.

Hopefully, if enough people complain, they will dump the ads altogether.

Very strange month for me. BME overall, thanks to a couple of EL's on FT, but almost all the other sites did about the same.

FT   33%
SS   15%
IS   14%
DT   13%
BS   10%
StockXpert   10%
123rf   3%

Since I supposedly have a 5D, whoever took it, I want it back.  ;D
#43
Will probably be the second best month for number of downloads(April was the best). No E/L's so the total revenue isn't the highest.
#44
I agree with sharpshot that the number of images doesn't determine if you're serious or not. I don't have any where near 1000 images, I just don't have the time to shoot more. When I do shoot I take it very seriously, I'll scout a location or do my best to come up with a new concept. If I'm going to spend time shooting, I want it to sell. I don't have the best portfolio in the world but it sells reasonably well. So I suppose I'm somewhere between the general hobbyist and the 'serious microstocker', so how about 'semi serious microstocker'  ;D . There is probably a bunch of us and as a whole we probably account for a very large number of images.

Anyway, just my thoughts.
#45
The numbers are definitely skewed towards macro stock, especially for the total income. Total micro income was just under $4000 but almost 60% earned less then $1000. It would have been interesting to see what the other %40 averaged.

Interesting enough, I had a teddy bear accepted on SS that I did a month or so ago. The bear was the central focus of them image.

go figure...

I've just come to accept that the whole copyright thing is confusing and just accept when something is rejected because of it.

I have the Graphire 6x8 and love it. As others have said, I could never go back to using a regular mouse for photo editing. I do keep a regular mouse next to the tablet for non photo stuff. For some reason I could never get used to using the mouse on the tablet.
#48
I might be in the minority, but I don't mind the change. Anything that cuts down on keyword spamming is a good thing. Just about all of the sites have started cracking down on spamming so I suppose Can Stock is just following the trend.

iStock         23% down about 30%
ShutterStock  20% down about 50%
Dreamstime   18% BME
StockXpert     13% BME
BigStock    13% BME
Fotolia         10%

This was a very strange month for me. It started off really bad and then picked up some speed by the end.
