Renee,
I was reading on Shutterstock forum that people were finding their photos on this site: http://www.graphixshare.com ... i was looking through it to see if they had any of mine.. they didn't... But .. I saw your skeleton trees ! i can't seem to link straight to where i saw them but just do i search for skeleton trees..
it even still has the Shutterstock watermark on it ...
Thank you. They do have my images. I have let SS know. Lets hope they have some success with these sites. There are so many.

And they just leave the shutterstock logo on them, they don't feel threatened in the least by stealing directly from them and bragging. I am just sick, my files are everywhere. On that original blog the bloggers were well aware it was my work from ss and they directed people to a half dozen sites like graphicshare graphicsteal where they could find ss images for free a steal.
I am only one person I have made less than a hundred dollars on those images combined, I will not be uploading any new vectors or illustrations ever, whats the point to make criminals and jerks loads of money to produce images that loose commercial value after they have been exploited for all their worth by hackers and become redundant. I need to eat so I might as well hammer some jewelery sell a painting or two and keep my day job.
I am so frustrated what power do I have against hoards of hackers, to most of those jerks I am just SS Skeleton Trees not an artist trying to make a life for her family, express a little art and contribute to affordable access.

I worry about sending emails to people who are hackers, they like my art and they scare the crap out of me, so I leave them alone, and I hope that my agent does something, I send emails to established sites that know better and will remove it.

An executor acts in the best interest of the estate, they can sign stuff but it has to be within the scope of the intent of the will, if people are arguing then it becomes an asset of the estate and will be involved in the legal mess.
I would go with the strictest of the sites, some sites have very restrictive standards and if your going for a document with the proper i's and t's then go with the strictest standards. Close relatives do not inherit unless stated in the will. First the heirs, then next of kin, the executor handles distribution and legalities associated with the deceased estate, the executor can not assign rights to you that are not present in the will. If there is no will and your an only child its all yours by default. If you took the photo of grandpa you would need the signature of the heirs all of them with signing rights to use the image.
The laws in your country will fluctuate as estate law varies.
I am not a lawyer take the advice for what its worth, lol

I am redoing mine too. Shamed by pirate teenagers as my site sucked, so people were dropping by based on my stock work. I wonder about SmugMug for illustrators, it looks intriguing. I am reading about google analitics it is supposed to help you understand your sites traffic and customers.
There are sites dedicated to attracting traffic. What I have extrapolated is key words, free stuff, tutorials and an interesting blog. On top of that Google ranks you according to how many people have links to your site on them.
may the force be with us

I can't help but be horrified that this has happened, but at the same time, admiring that so many love your stuff. It is a compliment, by me.
Still hard not to be mad.

I definitely feel for you. Ask friends or friends of friends if they know of a lawyer that may help. I'm at a loss of what else to suggest. How many have you found?
half dozen with products, 3 dozen or so with free downloads with counters in the hundreds few dozen overseas, and then I stopped looking, the hackers changed the names of my files and packed them in a two pack so it is quite easy to find on search engines. I was told by a lovely young lady that just drew her own version inspired by mine that it is just everywhere on my space. I always hoped my art would grow up and become something but I did want it to take care of mommy too.

Most lawyers I bow wouldn't touch a case like this. You would do better to contact the sites and take care of it yourself.
Well I guess then what I have here is a situation where I can only say, I need a lightsaber a magic wand or some kind of super power anyone tired or theirs and would lend it to me for some retribution, even a good old-fashioned nude bomb that could happen at once to every jerkwad that stole my work.

Ok any one sued any body? How do you get the info of the infractor out of the hands of the host? Do copyright lawyers work for a percentage?
What do I need to collect? How do you copy the sites would you save a pdf, paper copies? Do I just email all the companies to take down my art for free download or do I go to the lawyer first? I saw hundreds of sites with my stuff for free download. The one from Zazzle is irrelevant in the scale of it. Do people here know things that could help me figure out where to go from here? I am reading the wikapedia copyright limitations its hard for me to understand it sounds like if a site gave away hundreds of downloads for free they may be financially responsible. Anyone with some good advice?

Beware of the TinEye be ready to find ones you did not want to find. That said this is the first one I found that got me excited, this is a drawing I did of my mom as a minister, after she died, it was a part of my mourning process to draw her and art most of my best selling and stolen images. It was fun to find this image usage. My mom loved Gods almost everyone's she loved to pray meditate all that, she was also a bit naughty and loved sex. If she could see this she would have bought the book! Sometimes I create stock images I know very well will not sell often, but I want to be an artist and do some that serves, as a feminist I think there should be more women preachers.

Here in a few years Wal-Mart will get into the microstock game and then all of them will die off.
Too funny but probably true.

Illustration companies are doing it in many countries. I wonder if this will change the industry and the ability of any small port to make money?
If the right offer came my way I think I would just get out of stock all together.

Zazzle told me if it sold or not after I asked. [/quote]
Thanks for the heads up, I just asked them! I wonder.
I don't know who made the origional guitar tree but I bet it was not that jerk user
At what point is my agent responsible for the massive losses, my files were taken from them.

How do you keep up when the thieves are faster than I am, freekin underground pirate collective. The same jerk that put my work up on Zazzle put the same work on cafepress. I am so overwhelmed and angry at the level of thieving of my work that has gone on. It is really unending. http://www.cafepress.ca/dd/30142703there are too many jerks

This was a fun topic. I deleted my port 2 years ago because I thought they did not put out enough to be so high maintenance. Then I had to delete it again when StockXpert was acquired. If it gets acquired again I think I would just leave it up, it was work to get my images up.

I'm happy for you that you are able to find the positive side to this, and take part of it as constructive critisism. Your art IS great, and I'm sure the people on those sites would much rather buy it from the real artist!
Thank you, I have to respond somehow that keeps my dreams intact. I am still waiting to see what SS will do, I hope they sue people. Ah dreams, it is good to have a bit of a sarcastic personality when responding to it all. And for the support I received here, thank you it is so valued.

I've been resisting. Do I have to join the forum, just so I can read about it? No they took it down at my request. It was quite damaging and could encourage many people to steal my work. The crafter site has been understanding and their response has been professional.

I reported the image of mine that was being miss-used they removed it right away. I responded by opening a store with my images in it. The person who had my image up no longer does and mine is now replaced his/hers.
So thanks for the advice never would have found it if it was not for this tread. Now people can buy my work from me.

That's the spirit Renee. Turn it into a positive. Good for you
Thank you! I had to ponder that there was a message in all this that I could pay attention to, people dig my art. Someone in the Zazzle thread posted a comment from a hacker that said basically "if the images people want are not for sale I will sell them until someone figures it out". On the crafter site a hacker said my personal site sucked which it does they could not find what they were looking for then they went to the stolen work sites to find it. I see my art on tshirts in russia, so I think to myself, there is an undertone to all of this. A place for me to regain my ownership, somewhere for people to write notes for me to hear what people think. I got really jealous my ego is bruised other people got credit got paid, if I could have some freedom from my debts I could draw more. If I sell some junk I will get some of what the hackers have enjoyed from my file. I have some work to do some tutorials to write a website to design. Feels good to start somewhere. Thanks to people here I had a supportive place vent, and a husband that held me as I cried. makes finding my way to something positive way easier. My words are pathetic when I express my gratitude as my sanity was truly aided by the support I received here.

I went back to ZaZZle let them know that was my image then I opened my own store screw it, people want it I will give it to them. Nice thing about taking his image down putting mine up seems I got their fans automatically.
Probably the only way for me to make up for the gargantuan losses is to get on making a better website and selling my stuff. I am not going to look today just work on putting this crap on tshirts so I can make some money from my files.
