The S+ files cost 3 credits, the normal files 1 credit. So S+ is three times more expensive. And in addition it gets mirrored on Getty.
Not quite, Signature, and Signature Plus cost 3 credits sometimes*.
Sig+ get mirrored to Getty, and the plussing seems to depend solely on which inspector randomly inspected your batch, I can't see any other reason why some of mine get plussed and why some others, which IMO are better, not in the same batch, don't (we can't nominate files to be plussed nowadays, though for a while we could).
Sig+ files, and Signature editorial files get mirrored to Getty, where we all get bumped down to a 20% commission. Some of these sales are high value, more are very small,: whichever, we get 20%.

*However, they only cost three credits if they buyer is on a Basic plan.
If they're on a Premium plan, all stills are one credit, but the credits cost more.
If they're on a Premium Plus plan, all files, stills and video are one credit, but the credits cost more still.

do only exclusive contributors get into signature?  are all exclusive images automatically signature?  i've seen some sales through getty (i believe) though i'm not exclusive.

i'm with cobalt on this one.  i don't see why i would want to be exclusive with the 3rd best agency.  maybe the higher rate will make them the 2nd best agency and it'll be slightly less effort to upload to 3 agencies but there's no reason to believe they will do well enough to cover the earnings from AS/SS.

None because I think (and this is just a theory) you need sales to get refunds.  I've given up on Alamy, little to no volume most months.

avg month, bit less than oct.  quite a bit less than AS/SS.  no big sales, not great volume.  miniscule ai payment.

Pretty good month for me.  RPD is .77, certainly seen worse.  One really good sale, one decent sale, a good number of sales for over $1 and a huge pile of $.14 sales as well.  First time ever that non-US narrowly beat US sales which is something to be encouraged by I suppose.

at the end of the day everyone has to decide for themselves if they want to continue contributing to microstock agencies at the current rates of pay.  i know it was better before but there doesn't seem to be a convenient way to go back to that time.  most of us on the forum in 2024 are here because we are still contributing despite the lower pay.  a few folks here and other places have recently recognized that SS has been earning more, much more than when this thread started.  in my option it is becoming relevant again, by today's standards, even if it will never earn what it did in 2016 ever again.

For me SS has outperformed AS several months this year, incl. October  despite FireFly bonus and Extended License on AS.

Dismissing SS is premature IMHO.  But to each their own.

i'm seeing this too.  for months (maybe a year) adobe was about 5x shutterstock but starting around may ss starting catching up.  oct is the first month where ss beat as (by about 50%).  i, like many others, was prepared to dismiss them after months of minuscule sales but now that they are competitive i think you're right.
10 years ago the SS paid a minimum $35us per HD sale. I guess today's generation of contributors are far more happy with sales versus income. :'(

having trouble understanding your point but i am happy that SS is paying me more this month than all the months that came before.  i haven't found a way to go back to 10 years ago yet but let me know if you have a good strategy.

General Stock Discussion / Re: This month's sales
« on: November 01, 2024, 09:44 »
this is my first month ever where shutterstock outperformed adobe.  and by a lot.  i also had a large flurry of downloads in istock which we'll know more about in 3 weeks (prob $.02 sales which would still be better than the $1.80 sales that all get refunded 2 months later).

« on: November 01, 2024, 09:39 »
thanks for the responses.  it makes sense that the quality of the shot and subject matter are more important.  i may conduct a small test by shooting similar shots in different frame rates just to see if there's a difference at some point.

General - Top Sites / do frame rates matter for video?
« on: October 31, 2024, 11:01 »
Do customers who are creating 24fps videos (for example) only want 24 fps clips?  Would they use a 30fps clip and accept the dropped frames?  I tend to shoot in 30 or 60 but wondering if I should also include some 24 fps clips.

are you people also filling in your earnings in the forum poll?  is there any way to see how many people actually answer it?  judging by the wild swings i don't think its very many people and not every month but i've been trying to remember to do it when the istock figures arrive every month.

If you hover your cursor over entry (e.g. "Adobestock") it shows how many people responded and the rating number.

ahh, sweet, thanks, i didn't notice that.  i'm assuming the rating and votes represent just the current month?
this is all i see when i hover, not the number of votes but just the position in the graph

I meant hovering over the column at the right of this webpage

yes, i was joking, it's apparently the lowest position you can have but it still takes over 1000 downloads to even get this far

i got this email too, for the 2nd time ever.  there were 2 images removed this time due to an "audit."  they only showed 1 thumbnail with a link to my rejected images for more info.  it's utterly impossible to figure out what the other image is because they're sorted by date and i have no clue when it's from.  whatever man I'm not upset, just don't block my account for totally normal submissions that you should have rejected yourself the first time.

thanks folks, been quite a journey.  really wish i started years earlier but better late than never (though i know many people here would prefer never).  let's hope i can move about 50,000th at some point.

hey miro- i watch many of your videos and i think you are doing great work.  that said, i think the thumbnail for this one is not very good.  it's super hard to read the type against the background and in a grid of thumbnails it doesn't stand out.  try a simpler version, maybe fewer words or give the type an outline so its easier to read.  btw- youtube lets you a/b test thumbnails so it's a good idea to make a few different ones and let youtube show you which ones people are responding to.  appreciate you sharing your work with us, keep it up.

i also noticed this... almost all the good sales come from the US.  occasionally some european sales are for decent money but generally the sales outside the US amount to very little for me.
