iStockPhoto.com / Re: Amounts disappeared from Stats Page
« on: December 30, 2016, 05:57 »
To stop anyone posting, if you're not signed into the forum, you can't access the threads. If you're an active contributor there, you should have got info about signing in at the time of the forum change. If not, you'll need to contact their support. There was a specific support address for this, but presumably opening a ticket would eventually get you the info you need.

Another typical iStock feature. Instead of just signing in with my user name at iStock, there's some mystery routine that I have to figure out by browsing through old emails. Makes me wondering why I've been supporting that bunch for so long.

It was moved up below total earned.

Added: there's a thread over on their forum which has a link where you can see your royalties charts.

I can't find it ShadySue, could you tell me the name of the thread I would find it in please? (Is that allowed?)
It just seems that iStock wants to keep all information secret and tell us nothing.

Do they still have a forum? They've apparently killed the old one, and I haven't been able to find the new one.

And there's more:
When I go to My Uploads and click on the Royalties link to see the sales history and sales amounts for each photo, it goes directly to the iStock front page. It's like they try to hide financial information from us, like they've done for subscription sales for a long time already.

This information is essential, partly for motivation like others have mentioned, but also because I want to see how each of my photos are performing. Also, I've made daily statistics since I started this more than 10 years ago. iStock has always made that task a bit difficult. Now it's becoming impossible.

I stopped uploading to them a couple of months ago when I had my first $0.02 sales. Now it's time to consider the next step, which would be deleting my portfolio. I've never gone that far before, since I've always hoped for things to turn around (like they did with Fotolia), but with the current policies at iStock, I'd rather have customers not find what they're looking for at iStock, forcing them to go elsewhere. iStock is moving in the opposite direction of all the good microstock agencies, and sales are dropping. It doesn't make sense.

iStockPhoto.com / Amounts disappeared from Stats Page
« on: December 29, 2016, 18:14 »
Suddenly I can only see the number of photos sold, not the amounts, on my stats page at iStock, for the current as well as previous months. The account balance has also disappeared from the line at the bottom of the browser window. I can see it on the Financials Page though.

Anybody else had this happen?

I've already had 6 USD 0.02 sales, all in a single day last month. I'm out after the next payment. These guys are not even wort the effort of signing a petition.

My sales at Bigstock have increased significantly lately, and so have the prices. No reason to count them out yet.

iStock has always been an annoying agency, but now it starts to get pointless. In 2010, I had as much royalties there as with SS, around 30% of my totals for each of them. Nowadays, iStock hovers around 10% of the total, and the figures are getting smaller by the month. Ad to that the fact that they're still as annoying as ever, that they still have the slowest and most complicated uploading procedure and revisions like this, and I'm for the first time looking at leaving an agency that offers reasonable sales. Their business model borders on the unethical and I don't see any reason to trust them. I'll hold off for a while, but if I let them go, it will be like removing a wart, nothing more.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock - new uploads not selling
« on: October 20, 2015, 04:48 »
Something is happening. Last month, I earned more from Alamy than from Shutterstock, with half the portfolio on Alamy. This month, they seem more or less equal. My last 4 or 5 uploads to SS have all been rejected 100%. I get rejects for noise with photos taken at ISO 64 with a D810   :o

Something is happening. Last month, I earned more on Alamy than on Shutterstock, and this month seems to go in the same direction. That has never happened before. Very far from it actually.

Thank you for the answers. It doesn't make sense, but it explains it. By removing the name of the temple, the value of the images obviously diminishes, since the typical users (like travel agents etc.) wouldn't know where it is. Oh well...

36
I recently uploaded some shots of 450 year old Buddha images from an old temple ruin in the Rakhine State in Myanmar. They were immediately rejected at SS with the claim that I need a property release. Has anybody experienced that before? I mean, the artist must have been dead for at least 400 years and with the the current state of affairs in Myanmar, getting a property release for these is probably as simple as negotiating a peace treaty in the Middle East.

37
Thanks, Amos. I'll try in Bangkok on Friday.

I'm logging in from different locations and countries all the time. Never been a problem before. No unusual uploads, and the last one was approved a few weeks ago anyway. Same problem from two different locations in Vietnam so far. I guess I just wait and see till I get home in a few days. Maybe Vietnam is banned?

39
I get:

"Your access to Fotolia.com has been blocked due to unauthorized activity.

Reason:blocked"

even when I'm not trying to log in to Fotolia. Anybody else get that?

I'm in Vietnam at the moment, and don't know if it's a problem from other countries as well.

Same here. Reduced from over 2,000 to 265. Hopefully it's some kind of bug in the system.

I'm going to register with a couple of new stock agencies, and can't figure out how to find my US Tax Identification Number (I've just moved, so papers are well hidden in boxes). Any idea?

1. The Skrill official website is  www.Skrill.com and any other URL should be considered false.

Funny. Even skrill.com re-directs to moneybookers.com once I'm logged in.

Microstock Services / URGENT: Moneybookers scam
« on: June 30, 2013, 03:28 »
I don't usually fall for phishing emails, but this one was very professionally done:
The text starts with "We would like to inform you that your account is pending closure for failing to accept the new Skrill (Moneybookers) Account Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy until the 31th of May, 2013." From and Reply-to emails are both [email protected]. When I clicked on the link, I was led to a website that looks exactly like moneybookers.com. The only difference was that I was asked for my birth date on the second page, which made me check the domain name. The domain name is http://www.moneyboiokers.com.

I would recommend anybody who have gone through their login procedure to log in to their real Moneybookers account and change the password immediately.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Anyone doubting the power of SS?
« on: December 01, 2011, 19:34 »
SS is so good it's almost worrying. 55% of my sales at the moment, and IS is struggling to stay ahead of DT and 123. Strong competition is needed to keep them on their toes though, so hopefully we won't have to many stumbles among the competition. Hopefully also we won't see anymore takeovers/killings of good agencies like the IS/StockXpert thing. It's bad for the whole business.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStockphoto working perfectly!
« on: December 01, 2011, 19:14 »
How is this even possible? New bugs are introduced regularly without old ones getting fixed.

IS carries many signs of a dying company; falling sales, low commissions, inability to correct problems, sinking ability to understand the needs of contributors as well as clients (yes, I know a few who have changed to other agencies lately). Me thinks it's a problem of attitude. Short term profit has become more important than long term solutions. Hopefully they'll get over these things, but they need to stop acting as if they live in a bubble... or maybe they are living in a bubble   ???

StockXpert.com / Re: Bad things about to happen ...
« on: February 12, 2010, 19:20 »
The fewer good images on ThinkStock, the fewer customers will go there. That will make the higher paying subscription sites more competitive and increase payments to contributors. Staying out of ThinkStock is the way to go.

Saying that we need to be everywhere to make more money is BS. If we support the lower paying agencies, we will earn less money in the long run.

48
I got paid today to Moneybookers, requested some time in December   :)

There's another problem as well: uploaded images don't show up as Unfinished Files. I've tried the same photos twice now, and even after more than 12 hours, there's nothing there   :(

This one does it. I haven't tried it myself, but from what I've heard, it works pretty well:
