Hi,

Can you tell me your opinion about quitting Istockphoto exclusivity or not?

You were pondering the same question three and a half years ago, has your situation change since then?

Its a hard decision because I have about 13000 photos and its a big job to upload it on 5-10 agencies but Im sick from Istock false promises and non-transparency.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Exclusives - how are your sales lately?

Sales are generally weaker and weaker and I'm surprised myself that I'm still exclusive.

I am exclusive to iStockphoto and think about the termination of the contract.
I'm not sure how knowing the average % per site will help you with your decision.  If you look at the poll the average nonexclusive contributor here (who contributes to 20 sites) makes about $1080 while the average exclusive here makes $1540.  Also, according to the poll exclusives make almost 9 times more at iStock than they do as nonexclusives.
Yes, I know it's difficult to make the right decision, but the situation in Istockphoto from month to month is worse and the termination of exclusivity all closer.

Hi,
It would be interesting to see the percentage of the earnings of some of you in the various agencies!?

Thank you.

A similar situation is with me. Also take into consideration that my portfolio is significantly higher than last year.

From which sources come earnings informations of various stock agencies, and whether we can trust the accuracy of the same?

I'm getting closer termination of exclusive agreement. The decision is not easy but this month could be a turning point.

The last 4 months have been a turning point for me but this one will push me over the edge.  I suspect there will be alot of crowns flushed down the drain in the next few weeks.
I hope that the sale is not reduced in other agencies?!

No downloads in two working days. I don't remember it happened ever before. Does iStockphoto still rapidly declining?

My income in Istockphoto drops dramatically from month to month. I wonder if Shatterstock income in 2012 shows upward trajectory?

Hi,
Seriously considering ending the exclusivity on Istockphoto. Could someone show his graph at Shutterstock. I'm interested in the percentage of downloads and earnings per months in 2012.

Hi,
Is there an agency that requires a model release with photocopy of identity card of model?

Thanks!
I'm still not entirely sure but my earnings here has dropped by half, and I'm getting closer to that decision.

How long last the procedure for termination of exclusive contract with Istockphoto?

45
Thank you for your advice. This will be a difficult decision.

What you experience will depend on many things, including what you're currently earning at iStock. If you are a bronze exclusive, it should be trivial to match or exceed your iStock income by going independent. If you're a diamond or above, the situation is trickier.

It also matters whether or not you have accounts at other sites already - in my case, I kept my old Shutterstock account so I now make 38 cents per subscription versus starting out at 25 cents again.

You'll need to provide a bit more information about your situation to get any sort of answer - and even then, there's a lot of "it depends" :)

I'm gold exclusive and I kept my Shutterstock account.
Problem with Shutterstock are very large taxes for non-US citizens (30%).

I saw your Istockphoto portfolio. You have a very nice collection.
 Have you long been independent?

Due to problems with Istockphoto site update and poor relations of their management towards contributors, I'm thinking more and more often to terminate an exclusive contract with them.
Whether here in the forum is someone who recently broke exclusive contract with Istockphoto, and what is his experience in relation to earnings now and before?

easy to say that SS way outsells IS. The thing is however IS limits uploads so most people end up having a lot more images in SS. With the changes to royalties IS only gets worse. IS used to be a great place to sell as an independent. Now it is just for a very exclusive crowd. I would not take images down but not keen on uploading. Still not sure how they sell an image for 8 cents commission to me. Alamy gave me more revenue over the last 30 days than the micros.
Yes but SS sales photos for nothing. In addition, there taxes for non-US Citizens of oversize.

Does some non-exclusive photographer can tell me how much is he selling from various stock agencies in the last year? I am particularly interested in selling Istockphoto compared to other agencies.
