Probably the regulation is different in Bg, paypal has different policies with every country, Im in Indonesia now and I see paypal is totally different here. I get internel error when I try to calculate withdrawal now, but I am almost sure that I withdraw usd and I dont get charged with currency convertion. Probably your main currency is euro, I live in Bulgaria and somehow my main currency is usd and I just attached debit card with usd currency to paypal so I do not get charged for currency conversion. Although I get charged for the opposite, when I receive euro I need to withdraw in usd , so in the end it always costs me money.
I thought they stopped doing this. It doesn't matter if your card is in dollars if they see it's in Bulgaria.
Right now, $1 should equal 1.83 Bulgarian lev, what are you getting at PayPal if you withdraw $1 right now?

I uploaded 5 of my best images for the test which already sold a lot of copies on shutterstock, but all of the files are "not commercially viable" for DP. Do they want different kind of images there? or they dont need more contributors?
They need more relevant staff. Just forget them, they are simply another loser site nowdays. Their share in our total sales is 0,03% (0,0003) this month.
That's what I am going to do.

Does anyone have a method of avoiding the appalling Paypal currency exchange rates? Some of my earnings from stock sales is in dollars, and Paypal will only let me withdraw in euros. And thus forcing me to accept the exchange rate from Paypal that is much worse than just about anywhere else. It costs me hundreds of euros each year.

I started on December 26, now I have 150 files approved and probably more than 2000 waiting on my hdd to be keyworded. Anyway, I earned 8$ for 1 month with 150 images, but most of the files got approved in the last 2 weeks so I feel it is not so bad. I will try to reach 2000 files first and will decide if I will continue working this in my free time.

Seems like good thing that old images sell, after time all images you submited now will be old, I prefer to win constantly than only when the photos are new.

Shutterstock is not wrong. You did not include the most essential information - the FILE information. You know, those little digits? This is just a nice photo of your wife. Also not a good idea to post online a person's signature, photo, full name and full address. Criminals are having a feast with that information.
I deleted the photo, but I am not sure there is file information in model releases(I dont see such in shutterstocks' model release), I attach the model release to the appropriate file after upload with their web editor.

It could be that they want the release to be in the official language of the country. Some agencies require that but I don't recall if SS is one of them. But, they don't have a standard release in Indonesian in their MR list.
There also quite a few fields missing, for example: Photographer address Photographer signature
Date signed for model section.
On a side note, you might want to blur out personal information posted online or models may not want to work with you in the future.
It's okay, its my wife, but this is the release from 123rf, its written that SS accepts it. And they dont provide any information why they dont accept it.
They updated their policy on model releases recently and didn't bother to announce it properly. The "accepted releases" hasn't been updated to reflect it yet.
This article should clarify it http://www.shutterstock.com/contributorsupport/articles/kbat02/000006567
Thanks, now thanks to SS I need to sign another model release. I will see if I will bother for the 25 cents.

They also dont reply any emails I sent before 1 month so I dont want to write them.
"Model Release -- A model release is required for this image; or the attached model release does not meet our requirements, is illegible or additional model releases are needed."
From this it's hard to understand where is the problem.

the tendency has changed...in the beginning a blow sky was a no no in micro stock....today with more natural look needed, and the request for strong backlighting , both artificial or natural, the blown sky is not a problem especially if there are nothing to retain detail of, but the good exposure of subject is a norm...so in the photo u posted u can easily overexpose the sky one stop more and brighten the subject. some years ago probably a bit more flash light on the subject and you would have been accepted image, today trend is overexpose the background. Another consideration is an overexposed sky, near white, can be used as space to add text while a well exposed background can be not used if there are clouds or other item.
Thanks, so I need to overepose only the background, without the subject ?

I see this tendency that photos with models are really bright, overexposed. Is there are a rule that when the photo is with model you can overexpose it?
I have gotten rejections for overexposure, even less than this but without model.

My wife will take pictures of me, I will sign model release for me but what release do I need so I can use her pictures in my account? Link to release will be helpful
If it is ok for your wife, you can simply upload pictures of you with model release signed by you (you are both photographer and model). Consider your wife a sort of intelligent tripod here
Zdrasti It's certainly easier for me, Irina . I just wonder if the agencies will accept the pictures.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I think its better if I dont create a new thread. I have pictures of my wife which were taken in different days, can I submit universal model release for all days or she needs to sign model release for all days, I want the pictures to be accepted at shutterstock

I have this option selected but I still need to click on every single keyword I want to add, it makes the submit process so slow for me. Am I missing something?

Select: "Foreign tax ID - check "foreign tax ID" in case you are providing your foreign tax identifying number instead of a U.S. taxpayer identification number "
You should then fill in your foreign tax ID number a.k.a. your own social security number. No need to apply for an ITIN if you're an individual. You should still be able to use the 5% tax from the treaty.
So if I still don't have tax identifying number I will need to go to get one?

I joined Dreams Time recently and now I see that I need to fill a tax form. I live in Bulgaria and according to the table here tha tax treaty between USA and Bulgaria is 5%. Which one of the answers should I select ? U.S. taxpayer identification number (SSN or ITIN), if required U.S. tax ID - check "U.S. tax ID" in case you provide a U.S. taxpayer identification Foreign tax ID - check "foreign tax ID" in case you are providing your foreign tax identifying number instead of a U.S. taxpayer identification number applied for (5%) - check "applied for" in case you applied for an ITIN and are waiting for IRS issuance no treaty country (30%) - check "no treaty country" if no tax treaty exists between US and your country Thank you.
