I'm just wondering one thing that I really can't understand:
"given your considerable experience in microstock, didn't you realize that you were uploading content that violated the upload guidelines?"yes, you knew but you did it anyway.
As I wrote I am not aware of any images in my current portfolio which would violate the upload guidelines for AI.
I don't know this, but what I see is that your problem doesn't seem to me to be related solely to AI.
I say this because in the response that you received and that you reported here,it does not seem to me that there is reference to the fact that you have violated the guidelines regarding AI,but that you have violated intellectual property rights.
I had another look at the message from contrib support and it definitely says AI content: ----- Your account was blocked after we noticed that you have submitted Generative Ai content that is not within our guidelines.
You have submitted files that refer to famous artists, people, characters from popular culture, and/or other existing subjects such as video games in the image, title or keywords. We take intellectual property rights very seriously and your uploads are a violation of these rights and thus violate the upload guidelines.
Your account will remain blocked until further notice. ---- Edit: Sorry for the confusion: I had omitted the first line in my earlier post because I had already talked about it being triggered by AI related images.
I meant exactly this when I wrote: "your problem doesn't seem to me to be related solely to AI".
the real problem is that you submitted content that infringes intellectual property rights, whether they are AI content or not.
did you reference other artists in the prompt?Have you created AI content that featured famous people or characters?Have you included names of well-known characters, people or artists in the description or keywords?
I don't even want to know,I'm just telling you that you were blocked for one of these reasons.
However,in my opinion,if it was an isolated mistake, you will probably be unblocked.
if there is anything else,I don't know, only you can know.
To resume your statement: You don't know but maybe, probably, not entirely sure something something but then you don't even want to know and finally you don't know because only the OP can know. Why did you even bother with this drivel?

I am wondering about it too. From the first glance I was unable to find any images missing.
So you dont even know which images where in question?
No
This is ridiculous, what's the purpose of the whole procedure if they didn't even make a point what was wrong or even if you were in the wrong at all. Just a random slap on the wrist and it will probably cost you thousands. For giggles...

These bans are becoming alarmingly common now. The whole procedure seems arbitrary, especially considering some of these contributors have a long, spotless history with the agency. Myself I started finally working with AI after a long hesitation and now apparently I'm putting my whole portfolio at risk because having a proven track record means nothing and inadvertently tresspassing some deliberately vague guidelines could be the end of it. Click that checkbox, put your head on the chopping block and hope the axe won't come down

3 week block could be several thousand dollars. But in any case it is nearly one month income missing.
If there really was NOTHING wrong with the port, then Adobe should seriously consider compensation. Because then it must have been their algos that made a very serious mistake.
This is the most important buying season. You don't just lose the sales you also lose on the lightboxing of your files for future sales.
I am amazed that Adobe is not understanding that stock is not a hobby for the producers but actually their main income. At least for the old timers who have been uploading for years.
There must be a different way to handle this problem.
example:
- Notify the contributor that their account is under investigation. Give them a case number and communication place to ask questions.
- Give then a time frame estimate when a human will look into the problem.
- Until them let them access their account, their money and also give them the ability to delete files themselves.
- After the process is complete give them a real report what happened, what the problem was and how it was resolved.
Couldn't agree more! An additional negative impact is the lost "search juice": your images will rank deeper because of less downloads in the blocked weeks.
Additional? I'd argue that sinking in the search would have far greater impact on your income than a month or two without pay.

I usually check my sales only and completely missed this. 300$+ here. Pretty nice if real but would also want to know what it comes from

I received the notification mail that my payment has been calculated an hour after I received the actual payment

Talking about cutting the branch you're sitting on. But others are doing it too so let's hurry and cut it off before the others I can only imagine the smoke coming out of their ears trying to figure this one out

A lot of 2.8$, 5.32$ and 8.4$ sales these days. Overall volume is larger and 28$ sales have become a rarity but also had a 70$ sale last month. Now I can proudly say I have witnessed a unicorn

Personally I find the quirks and imperfections very interesting. It feels like the ai is striking back and making it their own as opposed to the prompters creation.
With a buyers hat on, I am very grateful that Adobe is offering a huge gen ai collection. I have asked many friends with businesses, they have all tried prompting and been more than disappointed with the results.
They have no time for that and will happily buy from an agency that offers a wide selection.
That includes people who have a good basis in photography or art, it simply takes much too long to learn the right prompts to get the result you want.
I also dont think that the masses have no talent. They aree simply not trained in art, like they might not be trained in music or metalwork or sky diving.
But everyone can learn to create, like everyone can learn to do photography.
Ai just speeds up the learning process, because you just have to focus on the end result and dont have to learn the individual technique like oil painting, watercolor, papercut or photography.
I'm sure it takes certain amount of talent to find and push the "generate" button but to make the debate shorter just take a look of what these people did before their AI content. There's an abyss between before and after Almost everything looks very similar, like it's gone through the same "art" filter.
Either many people are purposefully going for the same effect, because it is popular, or they do not know that they can influence the look of an image by describing for example light conditions and you can achieve images that look "artsy" and overprocessed or images that look like more like candid photos, but I think there is some great diversity there, especially since not everyone is using the same AI generator.
These images share at least half of their prompts. UHD, 8K, HDR, Trending on Artstation, High definition, Ultra detailed etc...

Almost everything looks very similar, like it's gone through the same "art" filter. I also see a lot weird shapes and artifacts that have no logic being there and that would normally disqualify the image but apparently the submission bar is set lower for AI. The whole thing is very discouraging. I could get on the bandwagon and have already tested a local SD iteration but every time I try to "create" something I feel like I'm cheating. Even when I get to something acceptable I just can't own the final result. I couldn't, even for a second, consider this thing mine. I can't imagine doing this for a living. My take is this whole trend makes art accessible for the really bottom of the barrel, completely talentless and skill-less part of the crowd. Coincidentally these people are so happy to finally see something beautiful come as result of their efforts, they have no scrupules or second thoughts about owning it. As for the agencies, their moto has always been "Anything for a profit"

Noticed that yesterday. I had 2 big video sales in the morning and in the evening one of them was gone from the details but the amount was still reflected in the day's and month's totals. Another day, another bug

20 days for the last batch of illustrations. Just couple of months ago it used to be 3-4 days max

Saw that this morning. I stopped uploading and making new products years ago but still get some occasional sales. Apparently that's enough for a Premium account. So no changes for me but it sucks that they went this path

Well, I just got another sub 10$ distributor sale and I've been opted out for more than a year. Every time I report these Alamy just replies with a canned excuse and then just keeps doing it. This is on top of last year's huge decrease in earnings - from 3k+ to barely over 1k. This agency is becoming a joke

I had 2.8$ credited for that video sale. No more details from support

I tried Payoneer as middleman and what a nasty surprise - 3% fee for receiving money from an authorized agent and then 10$ withdrawal to a bank account minimum fee . It makes Paypal look like a good deal

Same.Video sale. Contacted support, still no answer

Had this happen to one of my bestsellers. Was selling 6-10 times a day and disappeared overnight. Managed to get to real support who at two separate occasions, months between, promised they'll investigate, never heard of them again. I mean zero actual explanation what happened or could've happened. I even stopped uploading for months at SS waiting for some answer since the whole thing was so arbitrary. The image is still visible in my bestsellers with downloads and earnings, but with an empty icon and if you click on it you get an missing image url with a random selection of images

If you're from EU you can't withdraw USD from Paypal to a EU bank account even if it's set in USD. Conversion is inevitable. The only way is to withdraw to the card attached to that account. So you have 1% paypal fee and in most cases at least another 1% bank fee for receiving money to a card. Revolut at least doesn't have that receiving fee (for now). Btw in 2023 paypal still doesn't offer a card for EU customers so we could at least spend the money directly. As you can see there are layers in the way we get f'd by this move

If they keep their euro plans at the same rates as the usd ones after the change we should make a lot of noise on social media. Damnn, I wish we had some sort of union

It's 2023 and they are still forcing us to go through payment processors while there's Revolut and Wise . Same goes for Shutterstock

Yet another pay cut. USD/EUR value aside, there's 1% paypal transfer fee for usd while you can transfer euro for free. It would be funny though if the dollar peaks again like it did the end of last year

It's essentially a big FU to contributors. I haven't seen a single positive reaction to their last dashboard iteration so far. Best case scenario - they don't care, worst case - it's exactly the effect they were looking for. As for the why - many people think it's meant to drive us to the mobile version. I personally think it's a part of a bigger strategy to distance themselves from contributors overall

Slaves were abducted, bought and sold, and forced into that position.
They didn't willingly sign up to be slaves?
Anyone who thought they could make money at stock photos and is unhappy with the agencies or the pay, can quit or leave and do something else. Slaves didn't have a choice and escaping was difficult and dangerous.
Comparing Microstock to being a slave is an insult to the people who lived as or are now slaves, and who have suffered that inhumanity.
Modern Slavery act of the UK and the forced statement for businesses, is just how dumb our world has become. Or is the word woke? Corporations have to issue statements that they don't support slavery?
It's not dumb Pete 1. That's why its called modern slavery 2. Old type slavery is rife and is rising particularly thanks to gangs of Eastern Europeans. Worryingly more and more missing people are being found having been trapped in houses for over a decade and forced to clean peoples houses at their masters behest and get given dog food to survive. In fact only today teenagers have been abducted from uk hotels where ... After escaping to the UK these ilegal immigrants... teenagers have been taken in large numbers to run what is called County lines operations. A teenager will be abducted and given a debt for helping them. The debt will never be paid. Their families are threatened. The teenager will be given clothes matching the area where they will be placed. Once there they find a drug user and force the drug user to house them. From there the drug user is given discounted drugs to.lure all the drug user fiends they know. They in turn lure their friends in. The money all goes back to the teenager. The teenager then transports the money back along county lines to the supplier who then gives them more dugs and so the cycle continues. If they run they go missing. Teenagers are on a different judicial system and expendable.
There are many forms of modern slavery and therefore laws had to be created to provide a legal avenue to prosecute these people when found.
Compare that to Americas laws 🙄. It isnt 'woke' it doesn't even fit in that words context. Woke is virtue signalling against an issue that is misunderstood or doesn't exist. Your statement wad actually woke. How funny lol.
And to anyone who claims that a user accepts the terms and conditions of a company when using them and therefore only has themselves to blame and can leave at any time is not correct. The use of our images has been happening since 2019 where no mention of it was stated for A.I. use. The fact that Getty are bringing a legal case against an A.I. company proves that a legal challenge has been explored by those with more intelligence than ... well others.
to liken anything described here to slavery is disgusting!
Its exploitation no matter how its spun.
And here's an interesting set of facts
Top 10 Countries with the Highest Prevalence of Modern Slavery (by total number of slaves) - Global Slavery Index 2018:
India - 7,989,000 China - 3,864,000 North Korea - 2,640,000 Nigeria - 1,386,000 Iran - 1,289,000 Indonesia - 1,220,000 Congo (Democratic Republic of) - 1,045,000 Russia - 794,000 Philippines - 784,000 Afghanistan - 749,000
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-that-still-have-slavery
And while certain people like to beat their breast about historical slavery they'll do nothing about the slavery that is rife in the 21st century.
I'm really curious how they come with these numbers. Some of their criteria are objective and quantifiable - forced military service, forced prison labor. Others are pretty difficult to put a number on - forced marriage, child labor, forced begging, even sexual slavery. Slavery is a pretty strechable term. To play the devil's advocate - Were WWI and WWII soldiers slaves?
