123RF / Re: How is everyone doing on 123RF
« on: August 26, 2012, 13:25 »
I'm unable to check for daily DLs, instead the revised agreement pops up. The agreement was put in place in Feb, so I don't know why is it showing up now. When I try to check my earnings they're at zero for the last six months (since the latest agreement is in effect). Is anyone else getting this?

Not just you Stan. I'm getting a yearly earning page going back to 1969 (!), no recorded sales for the last few months and a total balance about $15 short of where it actually is. Not too worried about it -it's obviously a bug and things will back to normal soon enough (I hope). Regards, David.

Cutcaster / Re: Review times
« on: August 17, 2012, 13:53 »
I had some waiting a while in the same period. All reviewed in the last couple of days. It's August, holiday season, when approval times tend to get slower everywhere. I don't know, but I would guess, they do the reviewing in house so holidays would affect things. I'd rather wait a bit longer than have a temp reviewer just reject everything to get through the queue. Regards, David.

Hi, does anyone use Picture Nation, I use it and have my a default folder for my photos, but I want a separate folder for some of my other pictures. I.E. Eastbourne airshow pictures, b :)ut I can only find a default folder.

Andy, go to View my Albums. At the top left under the wording "My Albums" is a button to click marked "Add New Album". Just give it the title and description you want then hit save. Done!
You do realise BTW this is just for your own use - buyers do not see and cannot search within individual albums. Off topic, but since you mentioned it, I hope you didn't miss the Vulcan bomber on Saturday. Totally breathtaking site and certainly the standout moment of this years Airbourne. Kind regards, David.

I would encourage everyone to review their portfolio with SS. I discovered today that many of my images had the same description/title/caption. A shot of a farm landscape that I took was found when you typed "small bridge construction" in the SS search box (or something to that effect). 10 of my approved images had the same description/title/caption and they were totally different images.

I also noticed many of my images/videos no longer have titles and or descriptions. I've contacted SS today but I would encourage you all to review your approved images with SS.

I'm a Windows user.

Were they all submitted in the same batch using the Content Editor? It has a nasty habit of (sometimes) transposing the details of one image across every other image in the same batch. This happens at the point that you click on Submit. Luckily, in most cases you get the error message (querying spellings etc) and that gives you a second chance to check the image details are still correct. Checking differently captioned images and clicking Save Work before you go to the Submit stage seems to work (so far). Regards, David.

Off Topic / Re: Perseids Saturday 3AM
« on: August 10, 2012, 05:01 »
Thanks for the reminder Pete! I'll be sure to look out tonight. For many years I was on Greek island holidays at this time of year and it was always a magical start to sit on the balcony with a glass of Retsina watching the "shooting stars".
Actually a good day all round here in Hastings for watching the skies: The Eastbourne "Airbourne" airshow is just about to start so I should be seeing a good array of aircraft passing down the coast (should have started yesterday but heavy sea mist aborted the flying). Off there myself tommorow for a closer view. Vulcan bomber probaly going to be the highlight!

Good luck with your telescope set up!
Regards,
David.

Veer / Re: Dashboard Issues?
« on: July 25, 2012, 15:57 »
Not just a dashboard issue anymore -the site went down over 12 hours ago and is still down (there is an apology notice up). On the plus side, that loaded almost instantly without the usual long wait for anything to appear. Regards, David.

ETA OK I may owe Veer an apology here! Just switched browsers (to Google Chrome) and got in as normal. When I switched back to IE9 I'm still getting the apology notice saying the site is down.  Just down for IE users then?

There's an English version of the site if you go to the bottom of the page. They are not selling wallpapers (as in computer screens or mobile phones) but wall murals/posters -for peoples homes/offices etc. All my images there are correctly credited to me (it's Fotalia for sure btw). I'm guessing this would work on the basis that if somebody buys one of my images for their home, I get a payment at FT. There's actually quite an entertaining feature where if you click on one of your images it gets added to the room set photos at the top -so you can see how it would look on the wall. Well, I found it entertaining anyway -but I should probaly get out more  ;D Regards, David.

Great stuff Warren -congratulations! Regards, David.

I would like to see Alamy create a editorial RF option.  Currently I have to choose between SS,IS,DT,123 or Alamy RM for my editorial shots.  They should adapt to compete in this area.

+1
I'd really like that option. All my (mainly editorial) port is out as RF on the micro sites and, therefore, excluded from uploading to Alamy. Regards, David.

263
Ahh..Thanks! (not applicable to me anyway). Thought it might have something to do with the categories chosen. Regards, David.

Similar email for me today, except in my case I've been credited with nearly $5 of another contributors money. Not worth worrying over 5cents but I'll certainly let them know about the $5. At least it wasn't the refund I was expecting when I saw I had an  "adjustment" email. Wonder how many more mistakes the script threw out? Regards, David.

ETA OK no need to let them know then, they're already on it.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia is not loading

Loading fine here in the UK as well.
You may know this site - but for anyone who doesn't it's worth checking at www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com (the name is self explanatory!). Regards, David.

An interesting and honest account of how the new site was created (set backs and all). The overnight race to get the site live after news leaked out actually made for gripping reading. Thanks for posting the link! Regards, David.

Veer / Re: Did the upload limits change?
« on: June 06, 2012, 01:47 »
Not just you Anita. Mine says I can upload 25 images, though I only have one recent upload currently waiting in the rejection queue ;) So, yes, it looks like they might have halved the upload limit for now. Not a problem for me as I shoot virtually all editorial images. Still hoping that, being owned by Corbis, they might start taking those sometime. Regards, David.

ETA Corrected upload limit from 23 to 25 - it was hard to read!

As we are on the subject of FT rejections, could anyone enlighten me as to what "routing" is (included in the myriad of possible technical reasons for rejection)? I mean, I know what the word means in general but have no idea how it applies to a stock image. It's not a term that ever arises at any other site. Thanks in advance! Regards, David.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Selling Down....and down
« on: May 27, 2012, 13:45 »
In Germany its called Pfingsten and is a major holiday, the schools are off for two weeks and families head south for sun and fun . . . . .

Wow, this is bigger than Christmas then? I'd say bigger than Christmas and Easter combined...It must be a protestant thing than (England, Germany is protestant for the most part as well)

Just for clarity - nothing at all happening in the UK this weekend (holiday/celebration wise). Be prepared though: Monday and Tuesday next week (4/5 June) are public holidays in the UK this year (Diamond Jubilee of the Queen). Lots of street parties and events planned over that four day period so expect a drop in UK sales. Regards, David.

Interesting statement near the end of the video (at 3.21) that (to paraphrase) At the end of 2012 one of the largest microstock sites will stop paying a royalty percentage and just pay contributors "pennies per download". Anyone got a clue to whom they are referring? Regards, David.

Image Sleuth / Re: Stolen Photo (Pear fruit)!
« on: May 14, 2012, 05:46 »
Can anyone remember/find the recentish thread about a similar issue (tog's website implying stock images were their own)? I don't seem to be able to find it in the Image Sleuth forum or the Off-topic forum.
Maybe it was on one of the specific agency threads? Or maybe I just 'can't see it for looking for it'.

Here you go Liz.  Regards, David.

Dreamstime.com / Re: DT Pricing Changes? Stay tuned...
« on: April 22, 2012, 14:19 »
Either I need to clear my cache, log out or something else because I'm not seeing it yet.  Unless it hasn't propogated to the server I'm on yet.  Still shows level 1.  No biggie I'll check it out later on this week.

Stills shows as Level 1 to me too Anita (using IE9). There's a thread on the DT forum that says that IE users do not see a change but Google Chrome ones do. Hope that clarifies a bit! Kind regards, David.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Upload DT files not being processed
« on: April 11, 2012, 13:18 »
I uploaded a batch yesterday that still hasn't processed.  It seems that processing and sales have both come to a halt.   ???

They are coming through steadily at about the 24hour mark. Just check carefully as I had two batches come through with a duplicate image. Caught myself, just in time, about to submit the same image twice (though I guess their similars policy would have dealt with that ;D). Regards, David.
