« on: September 27, 2018, 18:57 »
I know. But on the page that was linked in the notification email, they have a table specifically about credit sales on fotolia, stating only: "Royalty rates are based on contributors ranks. The higher the rank, the higher the contributor's percentage." Nothing about exclusivity.

https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/royalty-details.html?trackingid=791Y6R5P&mv=email&as_channel=email&as_campclass=nonbrand&as_camptype=acquisition&as_audience=users&as_source=adobe

That's just the good news page, we havn't got the bad news page yet, except maybe by omission.

For the life of me I can't find the commission rates for exclusive contributors for credit sales on the fotolia site. What am I missing?

https://en.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/Royalties

Thanks. Just hope that's still valid. The new commission table on adobe stock doesn't mention exclusivity at all...

Adobe don't do exclusivity and you can't make a new account on Fotolia so in effect it's a relic of the past.

This are good news once in a while, thanks Fotolia!

But there's an error in this conversion table:
1 credit = 1 USD = 1 EUR = 0.75 GBP = 4 PLN = 7,10 SEK = 150 JPY = 1,100 KRW.

It should be 1 EUR = 0.90 GBP. And it can only get worse if/when brexit actually happens.

It won't matter much when they terminate Fotolia and with it the credit system.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: August Numbers
« on: September 21, 2018, 06:44 »
You can see which files you've sold in August using the Getty contributor app... but you can't see the amount you've sold them for thou.
Can you tell us where to find this app, please?
Someone mentioned it on here recently, but didn't follow up when asked.

Try this https://www.google.com/search?q=Getty+contributor+app&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b

I would suggest reading all the other Canva threads, that should confirm your worst fears, but many put up with it because they do well there.

There is never an appropriate time to say 'I told you so'.
I can't believe anyone was foolish enough to submit anything to them based on the info they provided.
The risk of submitting stuff is/was fairly insignificant giving them hard earned cash for their magic beans is a completely different issue.

Let me be the judge of that, what are their Terms and Conditions?
Yes you can make your own judgement for your images perhaps I should have said "in my opinion".   What is the worst that could happen do you think?

Well I guess that if you didn't agree to their Terms and Conditions you have no problem whatsoever.

The agency newsletters and blogs are always pushing trends so they must think it's a good thing as regards to buyers needs, not something you want to totally ignore.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime Files Lawsuit Against Google
« on: September 07, 2018, 18:08 »
Sammy! we are not alone in our theories!  right now there is a distributor collecting evidence and in contact with Lawyers to see if there are grounds to file a suit against SS for exactly what we have been talking about in dozens of threads, stopping photographers images and earnings or what we call capping earnings!

btw I'm not a member of that distributor, just saying!

Our entire business may it be micro or anything to do with Royalty free lends itself to all kind of skull duggery thats for sure!

So what happens if the evidence they collect points to a safety net not a cap and is consequently removed and their sales collapse, will you be more happy with this more equitable state of affairs?  Be careful what  you ask for!

Shutterstock.com / Re: Are reviewers for real or bots?
« on: September 07, 2018, 17:37 »
Bot people

I want to complain. Are the bots or the AI computers on strike? I think reviews are taking three days. If this was simple bots doing the reviews, and I'm talking about unreleased, commercial, not anything with a release or Editorial, why does the review take three days now!?

Yes I know 2016 thread but these are all the same, it came up first in the search and had a good subject title.

You must know by now that this tech company has a very bad tech record and strikes, unintentional or otherwise, are commonplace.  Complaint rejected.

Mostphotos, it's the only reason to keep uploading to them.

265
I think it's a major reason...i have seen several of the big sites list advantages between themselves and free stock sites.  Yes, Shutterstock don't have the quality check they used to, but sales has been down on each of the sites i use and it's a lot. Check my list here http://polarpx.com/microstock-sites/

Your sales being down does not automatically translate into the agencies sales being down.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock Search Algorithm
« on: September 05, 2018, 14:11 »
. . . . well thanks for all that. . very useful.

If you really want a serious answer to a stupid question I would think twice about that if I were you.  Lots of things go into search algorithm, one might be your acceptance ratio like Fotolia where it drops when you delete media, who knows if Shutterstock do the same?  Besides, they might lower your safety net if you delete items.

Shutterstock definitely has a search algorithm where they control a contributors earnings.

Do you have any proof?

Don't you know by now that we live in a post truth world where facts and even alternative facts have been superseded by belief regardless of any evidence to the contrary.  Paranoia is but a symptom of this world.

268
Not sure I care enough to invest a pound to read the article, no that's a lie, I don't care.

269
The biggest stumbling block would be a lack of indemnity, that's why buyers use agencies.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Getty - 500px partnership
« on: August 25, 2018, 10:34 »
So what's the plan, submit the images going to microstock sites to 500px as well and hope they sell on getty? It seems like a good idea now that contributing to IS is only for the foolhardy
That's a total non-sequitur, as the lowest prices come via Getty Connect and Getty Premium Access, and you'd only get a portion of the sales price via 500px. Of course, you might win the lottery and get a portion of a higher sales price.
So that makes 500px almost not worth the effort as most of their sales will be driven through getty?

OP "As a result of this change, we are closing 500px Marketplace on June 30, 2018. If youre a contributing photographer who has not opted out of distribution, your images may be selected for inclusion on Getty Images, as well as on our long-term distribution partner, Visual China Group (VCG), which acquired 500px back in February and markets photos in China."

Is this the road where SS will go ..?

Obviously not, no similar images to see, this contributor is niche.

Since when did they ever have a Tittle?  If you want to edit the Description box go to catalogue manager (underneath Sets on the Contributor page) and click on the pencil icon on the offending image.

« on: August 20, 2018, 12:05 »
Used to be in the top 3, why cant they get their act together.

because contributors sell the same images elsewhere cheaper?  because other agencies are heavy into discounting chasing market share?

Jumping to conclusions, good research and considered opinion are all things of the past now, it's called the Trump effect.  Misread, misheard, mis fecking spoke, you will never be wrong again.
