I wasn't sure if this was an overall thread or just IS. Regardless, I'm going to do what I usually do and just talk about whatever I want. As far as IS, the free fall didn't continue this month for me. Maybe, it has stabilized or settled into its new lower level. As far as the overall picture, it was my worst month of the year. Although, I've only been growing my portfolio at a couple sites, so I guess I can't blame the agencies. Unless being underpaid at them counts as an excuse for the blame game.

I see, thanks! Was the blog also created in Ktools, or is that a link to another site that is integrated together?
No, I just installed Wordpress in a separate folder on my domain.

Yeah, I was a little curious about this whole being rejected from sites too. That seems a bit extreme. What is a punishable offense? I can't vouch for every keyword in every file or claim that I'll never say something I'll regret. Everybody makes mistakes now and then.

I've done the opposite adding a blog to my ktools store. I just installed the blog in a folder on the domain like /blog. I assume the process for adding a store would be similar (do the install in a separate folder and create a separate database). You might ask support for whatever software or script you are thinking about buying though. Also, check if your hosting is compatible. There was this thread for places to sell your images... http://www.microstockgroup.com/selling-direct/places-and-ways-to-sell-your-images-direct/

I can see the connotation. As I think Kenny pointed out though, clip art is a pretty heavy traffic keyword on Google. Considerably more than illustration, vector, stock art, etc. I suppose in the end I don't care what people call my work as long as they are buying it.

I can't speak to everyone's opinions about the name, their thoughts on policies, general views on the site or other thoughts. As a contributor though to Clipartof, I can say I'm pretty pleased. If there were more sites like it, there would be a lot less complaining on this forum. When I look at the chart to the right, there are only a couple sites that top it in earnings and probably none that top it in contributor satisfaction. This may sound cheesy, but I hold it as a shining beacon of what an agency should be. I'm sad to see this forum turn against a site that I respect.

Is there a full breakdown of what is in each dot somewhere on the site? I was trying to figure out where each of the 5 illustration categories/sizes fit into the 4 dots. I'm assuming Basic and Moderate are on dot one, Detailed and Complex are on dot two, and Elaborate is on dot three. It definitely makes for some large price ranges on each dot.

This seems a rather strange policy. You'd keep on an artist who's work is not as good as someone who comes to you later, purely on the grounds of the date they joined, rather than a judgement on quality. If I'm understanding that right, that seems rather an odd way of stocking a library.
That's kind of how a real artist agent or rep works. They represent a smaller number of artists and try not to have as much overlap so their artists aren't competing for the same freelance jobs. I don't really see a problem with applying that strategy to a stock library. You can more easily cater to the needs of a smaller group than a larger one. It sucks that not everyone is included, but we've all seen how that works too.

it's really not that difficult.
True. It's the pricing that is complicated not the slider.

Wow! I never fully realized how confusing their pricing is. I think I hurt my brain playing around with the slider trying to figure it out.

I was searching for vectors if that helps clarify it.
Speaking of vectors, what happened to the size searches? Did they take those out?

If someone has just 10 credits left, they may only want results that they can afford to purchase. I do think that that could easily be too confusing however, given the different prices in sizes and all.
That was exactly my situation. I had 10 credits that were about to expire, but I couldn't get results for 10 credits. Just 10-12 credit files. It was frustrating. I ended up letting them expire, so nobody made any money off of them except IS. As an infrequent buyer, I don't think I'd buy from anywhere with credits again. I'd rather just pay for what I need. Edit: I was searching for vectors if that helps clarify it.

Sounds like an improvement. Sad to see that it looks like it is still ranges. It would be nice to search for an exact credit price.

Didn't they have a Fotolia 2.0 that was disastrous several years ago? I assume that that experience may make them a little more cautious this time. I guess I don't really have any investment in Fotolia anymore, but it will be interesting to see what they roll out.

Neat!
As a non-photographer, that was my professional opinion as well.

In my mind you are missing one (the) essential part of the "Fair Trade" equation: Royalties.
I tend to agree. It's a nice start though. My laundry list includes things like price setting features, 50/50 royalty rates, optional or no subscriptions and easy portfolio disabling features. These are things I look at when I sign up for new agencies now. Basically, the more control I can get as a contributor the better.

I haven't had any problems with their hosting. I'm sure Bluehost would probably work fine too. As far as pngs, you can upload zip files, so I assume you can put whatever you want in there (tiff, png, eps).

I should have added to do it with high income. i was thinking of a site where you invest in your own worldwide advertising, place ads, work with sales people, add new software tools for customers etc...
Obviously anyone can sell from their own site, but to attract thousands of buyers you will need the volume.
Of course, you are welcome to share the secrets of your million dollar a month business ;-)
I'm trying a kinder gentler me, but sometimes the smart @$$ still sneaks out. Anyway, I'd say it's relative. Increasing my revenue x% a month by opening my own site is a lot different than someone like Yuri increasing his by the same x%. My goal wasn't to make a multi-million dollar operation anyway. It was to actually get paid for all the work I've already put into my stock library. Something more sustainable than having to create thousands of images a year just to maintain the same income. Besides, my stock site is better than Yuri's because it actually exists.

There is a lot you can do with your own site, but you have to produce enough images to make it interesting. Only the top players in the industry have the quality, image volume and income stream to do this.
Yes, the rest of us could never figure it out. Whatever you do don't click on mine or other poster's signatures.

Can we request repricing for images? Not much sales there, so I probably wouldn't bother. It would actually be nice to be able to request higher prices or be able to have price setting options.

I couldn't find any $1 vectors in mine either. Most of them are $5. I would like to see the prices raised there a little bit though. They seem fairly low.

Good for him. I'm surprised he didn't open up a shop sooner to sell his images. It sounds like that he has been working on it for a while though. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with.
