They are not really all the same - there are two darker green ones that slipped in there. These are all 9500 pixel files so they must just be created in photoshop I guess.

Yes, do all the main stock video sites accept Prores?

Any nice articles on what the best settings should be for export?

Interesting thought. How do you find the VCG stock agency site? Do they have one of their own, or is it under the old names? They bought Corbis, didnt they?

Anyone submit direct to VCG (assuming you can)?

« on: December 09, 2018, 11:28 »
I uploaded about 2400 images during my 30 day free trial of Pro and have ended up with 485 being licensed. Sales so far have not been great although perhaps Getty are slow at reporting - who knows? I don't think there is any chance of the remaining ones being licensed now that 500px has stopped that, and so the remaining images will just sit there, I think.

I'm not sure how I would delete so many without cancelling my account.

He has certainly traveled to many different parts of the world and got the light just right! He is selling all their products, postcards, clocks, mugs etc.

None of my images as far as I can see

Well, my record of 18 months with a higher earning than the same month in the previous year was lost this month. At least the pressure is off! But still a pretty reasonable month all told:

All mine are there as well, but my portfolio there says csp_backyardproduct, which I think is my Canstock account. This could explain the occasional "large" sales I get on Canstock - one for $33.80 last month for instance. I don't get many, but they have been more frequent of late and they tend to be more "artistic" or "wall art" subjects

It certainly amuses me what conclusions people draw from such limited stats ;-).  I would really like to know which images were viewed using which keywords so I could see demand and which of my ideas/pictures  could actually be improved to increase the chances of a sale.....too much to ask I guess

Yes a deep analytics program that could pull that sort of data and provide some trends would be good.

In the meantime, I did become interested in what my numbers looked like for photos and videos. Photos are $0.76, videos $19.80. Now if only I could make my photo number get closer to the video number!

I know what this can be used for - an advertising pitch. "Buy my book and you too can have numbers like me..."

Like about 95% of the stats you can get about microstock from the sites I don't think it tells you anything that you could actually do anything with!

Yes, but it keeps us amused...

Well, the third week of September was great for me, but my cap must be high enough that it didn't impact the fourth week...

370 videos on Shutterstock so about that level. Almost all of the newer ones have been 4K and they are selling better (not always at the 4K level, but I think I'm getting better at it.)

General Stock Discussion / Sales in September
« on: October 01, 2018, 12:11 »
Who remembers the good old days when by lunchtime (US time) on the first of each month there was always a vibrant new post detailing the earnings from the previous month? Sometimes it was a race to see who could be the first to report. These days - not so much.

So I'll start. A pretty good month for me (yes, you heard that right) with September being my 16th consecutive month when I have exceeded the earnings in the same month of the previous year. The big saving factor for me this month were my video sales - $564 our of a total of $3315 for the month.

Adobe Stock / Re: Question about your metadata workflow
« on: September 07, 2018, 11:10 »
I create both a short title and a more extensive description in Lightroom and export Jpegs from there. In Stock Submitter, I rearrange the keywords to put some important ones at the beginning of the field (why can't Lightroom have a non-alphabetic sort option???) and let Stock Submitter do its thing for all the agencies. I still have mine configured to upload to the Fotolia site.

I've just checked the options in Stock Submitter - there is one for Fotolia to use the description instead of the title, but I have that unchecked for Fotolia. To be honest, I hadn't realized until now that Adobe didn't use both fields.

Adobe Stock / Re: Auto-Title Feature Added to Adobe Stock
« on: September 06, 2018, 12:27 »
Matt

It is intriguing when stock agencies deploy time and money to develop features that will only be used by exclusives on their site. Doesn't everyone who is not exclusive get their files ready for upload in some system or other and then upload/submit to all at once? Could this be used by someone who submits to many sites?

As a matter of interest, are there are large percentage of exclusive artists on Adobe/Fotolia?

I was going to say that it is a great idea to delete your photos - especially if they are good and compete in the same categories as mine.

General Stock Discussion / How was your August?

Am I the first to report this month. A pretty good month for me, helped by an amazing $79 on Canstock and two big print sales on Fine Art America.

15th consecutive month where I have exceeded the earnings in the same month in the previous year.

Hi Jim

Sounds interesting, but how would most microstock contributors know the answer? I do both commercial and editorial images and submit them to the agencies that accept them, but no-one breaks out the sales between those categories (as far as I know). Wouldn't you have to track the sales performance of every single image?
