General Stock Discussion / Re: become a full timer?
« on: November 13, 2012, 06:21 »
What seems to be very , very odd is the fact that somebody  came on the forum claiming that is making 8k/month and  no portfolio visible on any agency for us to see... I don't say that the topic is a joke or impossible to grow that much in  a short period of time... but  no portfolio visible let me think that all this topic is ''fake''...

No offense SIFD but I'm little skeptical.....  ;)

What is POD ???

F**k, after reading this topic i realize two of my best selling models on SS are wearing Ray-Ban sunglasses. Despite the fact that are no brad logo visible  the shape of this brand of glasses is unique and more certain copyrighted... hmmm :-\ :-\ :-\

and to rest of the guys who has doubts about this thread, i can post a snapshot of my earning here, then what?

Why not just show us your portfolio?

I have said who he is and it wasn't that hard to find out, that said you have my respect SIFD

Maybe i missed something here .... who is?? a link....???

I really want to see how a 8k/month portfolio look like...

Something that strikes me is "why me". Should they not be suing the agencies that have actually sold these images? If the case is to stop the sales of their brand on stock sites, then why are they targeting me? In case they win all I can really do is make sure not to use their Glasses in any images in the future, but I can't demand a take-down on jurisdictions where this brand might not even have a design trademark filling? Makes sense?
Is the right procedure not to contact each of the agencies and demand that images showing their design be taken down?

...because you are a successful photographer with great financial power and you have the money to pay in case they win the lawsuit. As I said : embarrassing, especially for a company that wants to be on the high end/luxury product market.

8k are lot of money regardless in witch country you live...

I am in the same situation, still have a regular job but i earn twice as much compared with my salary.... I plan to go full time photographer when my studio is completed  ( extending and combining stock with paid photo sessions), The reason is simple: no regular job= more time = more time spend shooting = more images at higher quality = more revenue.

Good luck in your decision.

Nik.

The glasses company ''smelled'' the chance to make some money without selling any glasses... embarrassing  :-\

Yuri will be very helpful to post a link/photo of the sunglasses type/model that you talking about.

Newly approved files not appearing in SS?

Anyone notices it since yesterday?

You are right the; the new approved images are not appearing on SS right away ( as usual)... try 123RF they appear after 1 week ( and this is normal).... so 1 day is a short period of time. ;)

So I did a double-take just now looking at my SS stats - I have a single/other download today for  $79.11!!

I can't imagine what the license is for, but it's not an image that I would have thought had any sensitive aspects - this one. Some of my daughter's dress-up glasses from a few years back.

It was already a BME at SS, but this is certainly most welcome :)

Are you OPT IN  regarding sensitive use on SS??

But it doesn't matter if they are Matell, they can sell it to Matell for 20,000!

...or they can choose another image.

Calculate how much the image had earned until now/ year and multiply the sum by 3,4 or 5. i believe is a decent sum.

One off topic question :  why are Leaf and I the only ones in this topic showing port size (and links to portfolio) ?

If this make any sense for you ... here are my numbers; Ports size:  between 1000 images on 123RF and 2270 on SS. sales in the thousands /month.

Very good month ..  ;D ;D ;D

SS - BME   8) 8) , Compared with my last BME: 15% increase in revenue , 20% increase in sales. Lots of OD ,SAO,and good EL's
FT - very good month  :)
DT - good month  :)
123RF - average  ???

The pie slices:

SS - 70%
FT - 15%
DT - 10%
123RF - 3%
Others - 2%

SS is at 70% not because i earn little on the other agencies ... because SS is that good.

Yap, at SS another BME for me  8) 8) 8).

Back to the topic..

I did not see any change in sales or sold subjects during the entire month. Everything is constant here.

I"m still learning the MS how to improve myself not to be a better photographer but how to be a good seller with sense what buyers want. It is pure business and nothing to do with art. Sad but true.
That's my point of view, maybe I'm wrong but that's it.
Best

100 % agree!

Coming from artistic photography (in my case)... wasn't easy to adapt to commercial... sometimes i miss artistic and abstract photography.... but hey! i try to run a business here.

100% agree.

For people related and portraits  50mm f/1.4 ( sigma) ; for food objects etc. 100mm f/2.8 ( canon)... i voted for the 50mm

All these sensitive use sales are great until you regret it later. If you are in the sensitive use and have no peeps in your port, then great.  If you have peeps you risk an ugly situation regardless of a model release.

I know that.... that why i opted out.

293
I have 300 photo in SS and can receive roughtly 45 USD per month.HOw about this performance? Good or not good? Really curious about this result.

300 images online and $45/month i believe is not bad. Course you can get $200-300/month with the same number of  files online but they must be at a very high quality and and the concept must be unique.

I am OPT OUT from sensitive use.... so is not a sensitive use license....

I just want to know what rights are granted for this type of license and what is the sum that the buyer pay for it...

Scott????

Off topic :
HerMajesty , jm....

Yes i know in many cases the sales are not related to the sensitive use.... but i really, really do not want to see my wife or a close model of mine on a building poster or advertising  as a victim.

If SS will enable the opportunity to grant this type of license PER IMAGE i will gladly shoot specially for this type of license.

« on: October 26, 2012, 00:53 »
i contribute on SS for 11 months now.... in the last 3 months a new type of sale appear at SO section; the $16.80 single & other sale. I have tried to find what type of sale and what rights that licensee entitles ( on forums, SS site etc.) but no success.

I believe is some sort of EL stripped of some rights or is a regular EL license for high volume buyers at a special price.

Anyone know more about this particular license???

Adobe Stock / Re: Is Fotolia Tanking for anyone else?
« on: October 26, 2012, 00:37 »
Very interesting data.... in my case FT is the 2nd earner ( after SS) and way over DT. what can i say.... i doing good there  :P

In my case the ''problem'' is 123RF vs Depositphotos

I earn 10 times more on 123RF than DP. For me DP is near the bottom list of Low Earners agencies.

298
Contributor.... Very rarely i buy images. I voted contributor only.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Impressed by one site

I am very impressed by one big site and have gone exclusive. Has any one else a comment?

which one? IS?

300
Maybe I didn't word it right. Which sites can you just join, upload and hope for DLs? :)

I think they are DT, Fotolia and 123RF?

One example of what I am NOT looking for is SS, since you have to submit 10 and get them approved before they can be sold.

Or do all sites require images to be approved before they can be posted to sell?

Thanks.

The ''problem'' is that SS sales 2-3 times more images than all other sites ( DT, FT, 123RF) combined. Definitely worth uploading.
