is it possible to see atleast one banned account that was linked on this forum as spammer before they ban him/her?

The minimum price changed from $ 0,02 to $ 0,10 per file by subscription licenses for non-exclusive contributors.

More: https://contributors.gettyimages.com/article_public.aspx?article_id=4856

nothing changed unfortunately

price is $0,10 and our royalty commission is 15% so it is rounded to $0,02

something has changes, that's for sure, but this time, atleast for me, is for the better.

My new images finally getting sales! Reason to upload new images are back for me.

Some old ones, few times or never sold, also got some sales, dont care about that so much, but sale is a sale.

isn't this somehow similar with our situation?

it could happen, it's more complicated with us but for exclusive contributors to one agency it is possible.

lol

Can you post the link to that thread in the forum? I have looked there, and I don't see one regarding spamming issue.

Minimum wages are just for employees, unfortunately.

yes, you are right, unfortunately, but it doesn't have to be like that. That's why I think we are doing petitions in wrong address.

dont' know about USA, but there is a law in my country (I'm sure there is something similar in USA) where if someone borrow money to someone else with interest rate that exceed permitted rate by law or statute is called usurious contract or similar and is illegal.

selling licence for other peoples copyrighted images while cutting 85% of earnings is something that should be illegal.

So, if someone want to say to me: "you can always delete images and quit"

Sure, I can, but employee can also quit when he want to (it's not slavery anymore), but there are still minimum wages in law.

Based on comments here and feedback from many people via PM, phone and email, we'd like to adjust the petition to ask for what most people want from iStock. The poll will run for 2 days and then the adjusted petition goes up on Change.org.

A petition to ask a private company to change is ridiculous. They can do what they want, and so can we.

I won't sign a petition because I already signed by leaving iStock.
It wasn't even too difficult for me. Sales started to decline when they started to accept everything.

all companies, private or public, needs to work by the law.

If usa law allows them to take more then 50% of our earnings, they will.

You know, even private companies need to pay minimum wages (minimum by the law)

maybe we are addressing all those petitions on wrong place

yes, if law doesn't allow them to take cut more then 50%, they can move to other countries... so be it.

i support alamy with my images, but only because of their 50%

very rare sales there

« on: November 08, 2016, 06:02 »
ok, what i dont understand with some of you

this petition is mostly because of those insulting 2 cent per image

you dont care that you will earn 14 times less from subscription sales, but suddenly you care about 15% commission.(this not apply for those of you who deleted pictures when 15% cut happened)

i personally think that everything below 50% is unacceptable, that's why i upload to alamy even my sales are very small there, but if we can say something, even if that dont change anything, just to be heard I dont see anything bad in that.

for those who continue to upload images there for 15%, and don't what to sign petition but are signing that they agree with 15% and 2 cents royalty every time they upload new images there, how that makes sense to you?

on brighter side, even when your images get accepted, they would go missing from searches and portfolio so chances it will sell are minimum and you are not loosing much

According to their latest presentation to investors they're migrating over to a new system and are 80% there, so I wonder if that's the reason for all the glitches as they rewrite all their code?

thanks, didn't know that

can't they do anything that doesn't negatively affect us contributors in one way or another?

it's not question to you...

not only spammers, but now missing whole batches of new approved photos... 1 batch is online and searchable, other 2 approved in the same time not in portfolio and can't be searched, and when they get there, they will be on site 50 sorted by new.

sad, and it's only getting worst

in my experience, nobody cares of your ethics (in business), if you are not getting companies (and yourself ) money, ethics do not pay bills. business competition just love to crush people who are not adaptive because of their morals.

I dont care whether you or anyone else cares about my ethics. I care about my ethics. Business can go ahead and crush me then...I will find other ways to make money and do business with people who arent interested in "crushing" people. I have done well so far, with my morals intact.  :)

Adaptive...so contributors here who are willing to accept 2 cents for an image because its "better than nothing at all"...is that the definition of being adaptive? Morals or no morals...businesses who love "crushing" people are going to find ways to do it to get what they want, no matter what.

dont get offended, I'm also on your side, trying to do my best without spamming or any kind of using advantage on other people or things. My english is not best you will read here, but we understand each others.

this topic is not about 2 cents per image so when I say adaptive I weren't talking about that. Adaptive photographer with good business sense are no longer on microstock.

your quote: "business can go away and crush me". ok, it will happen, sooner or later.

microstock where whole world can contribute, many stealing other people works, copying ideas and concepts from most popular, spamming for better search results etc is not world for people wearing rose tinted glasses. (it isn't your name here but you know what I mean)

all of us who aren't using spamming are fools
No, we are cowards. These guys risk consciously. Smart and brave.

Fools or cowards? No, some us just have good business ethics and consciences. The day I have to become a liar and a cheater just to sell images, then my images are coming down because I don't want to emulate liars and cheaters or deal with companies who support liars and cheaters.

yes, you and me will have good business ethics and consciences, others will have good business.

I am ok with that. I only have to live with myself.  ;)

if only majority of people thinks like that, world would be better place.

I am guessing (because of your signature) that you are not just very young/green... so, very nice.

unfortunately, there is "but" :D

still nothing done about it.

Maybe google punish SS for that (of ss didnt really punished spammer because of google)

did anyone try to find those ss spamming images on google searches and how are they doing there?

SS have been suspending account for much less then this, so...

I have stopped uploading my best files for a few weeks now, new files doesn't sell as well, no new followers for a long time and gallery views are zero for last few months (it was about 10+ weekly)

How can agency so quick from great to feed with new contest become an agency to avoid sending new files to?

Adobe/FT or others aren't the reason, they will just need to use this situation in their favor.

Spam and it sold really well??
Cannot say it sold really well or not but I have seen many spam images in popular list.

so that looks like it is the answer.

if they went to popular it means they sell

btw. only 2 left for 100, very good

someone at istock forum made this chart:

http://www.ilbusca.com/temp/Subs_NE.jpg

one problem is because this is for current prices, if they go down we get even lower, and sure, there is that rollover.
