General Macrostock / Re: Why are my images on Getty?
« on: May 12, 2013, 15:05 »
The only thing you can do is contact support.
Yes I will. I just wanted to know if anyone else here experienced something similar.

You can do a simply Google search with "gettyimages.com YOUR NAME" and see if your images are there.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Weird rejection on composition
« on: May 12, 2013, 14:48 »
It is frustrating to receive such funky rejection notices but it would really help you and all of us to understand better what we're dealing with here if you show the image in question.

Consider the slight chance that we can all learn from this...

General Macrostock / Why are my images on Getty?
« on: May 12, 2013, 14:38 »
I just accidentally tripped over 11 images of mine being offered at Getty for Macro RF prices  :-X

The collection they stem from is called: E+

I'm not and never have been exclusive with iStock. These images are not even available at iStock or Stockxpert.

I didn't upload these images to any Macro distributor since I only use RM content for those and not micro RF images.

I'm properly credited which is fine but I wonder who is supposed to pay me once I'd sell anything there...? Did this happen to anyone else?

Shutterstock.com / Re: Change of Most popular
« on: May 10, 2013, 09:02 »
I can also confirm a shuffle of the most popular images with preference to the newer successful sellers.

SS probably wants to have fresher, successful content at the top of the search results rather than longstanding top sellers.

281
Leo, just in case you are bored right now (LOL) I think the image processor does not like "Adobe RGB" color spaces and gives me an error without importing the image.

I don't have the error code right now. If you require it I can try to reproduce it but maybe you are already aware of this issue anyway.

The vector artists surely get inspired by looking at very old labels and use elements and recreate them with their own style...  ::)

Pond5 / Re: Sales drop lately @ pond5
« on: May 07, 2013, 16:46 »
The last couple of months are really slow at Pond5 (talking footage here).

Beginning of the year was better, last year was a lot better. I hope they get more buyers soon.

I hope it's not the fact that they get swamped with new content and sales get diluted...  :-X

284
No, I'm not a Godaddy person.

I'm a Hostgator person if that's of any help?

285
Thank you Leo! Terrific work!

Just uploaded vertical image and thumbnail generation is flawless!

Back to uploading!

286
Hmm, I'm still using the default thumbnails with the rounded edges and there are no reflections for me...

287
I seem to have some issue uploading vertical (portrait) images. The thumbnails used to be generated being 149 pixels high.

After this update the portrait images are being generated 225 pixels high. I don't care too much for that if I wouldn't be using the newest images feature because the new thumbnails are significantly bigger and therefore cause formatting issues.

The image width of the horizontal (panorama) thumbnails is still the same and totally ok.

Can someone confirm this issue?

OK guys, in the future I will refrain from posting on the forums and just PM you both...  :-X

Thanks for the link!

Awesome look! Congrats!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you remove the drop-down menu (Images/Blog) next to the search field? I want the search function also just to work on images, therefore that menu is redundant.

Thanks in advance!

290
Tinny, you deserve 5 stars!!!

Thank you, thank you thank you!

Finally!!!!!!!!

 ;D

Now I can get to work!

291
Sorry I"ve been relying on everyone to help eachother while I keep working on next release :D

Have you added the images to the "Featured images" category yet?

Its possible that you have a situation left over from the "old days" before I implemented this. In that case you can delete featured images category, then reactivate your theme.

At that point you should be up to standard with all the new versions of Symbiostock, where people do not have to pull their hair out (much).

Hi Leo, I really don't want to bother you with that.

I don't really have a problem assigning the featured images to the widget - it works great. The newest, similar and featured widgets work fine on the image pages.

The problem I am having is that these widgets do not show on the home page.

There was a thread where Symbiostock users were showcasing their sites. One user already has his site (illustrations) up with more than 1500 images. He has his front page filled with the newest and featured images I believe.

I wanted to create something similar by adding the newest and feature widget to my home page and possibly adding some static content underneath.

So I'm trying to add the widgets to "Home Page (Above Content)" or "Home Page (Below Content)" but no images show up.

Does this have anything to do with a custom created page set to the default home page?

To do that, in the control panel, I goto "Appearance" -> "Themes" -> Symbiostock "Customize" and in the left menu at the bottom I set my front page to be a static page.

Will this override or disable the widgets from showing up on my front page?

292
Why would it be your fault?  8)

Maybe someone who got it working can chime in how to achieve what I want to do...?

293
In the video: http://www.symbiostock.com/free-files/widgets_and_menus.swf

at the 2:00 mark, Leo added the featured images widget to the Home Page (below content) area. When I do that, it just doesn't show.

All three widgets (newest, similar, featured) work fine on all image pages at the bottom - I'm good with that.

Most importantly though I would like the newest and featured widgets on the front page though... :(

294
Great, thank you! I'm watching it now!

295
Thanks cclapper but I don't understand the image  :-[

I must have some mental block going on right now. Where do I get the CTA template or any of the other templates?

296
I feel so stupid.

I've gone through several threads but cannot get it to work.

First off I think I have a problem with defining what is my home page.

In the Wordpress control panel I goto "Appearance" -> "Themes" -> Symbiostock "Customize" and in the left menu at the bottom I set my front page to be a static page that used to be my home page which is static but I want it be more dynamic.

So... that's the first issue. Then I try to drag the widgets (Newest and Feature") into any of the areas on the right and try to check my front page but nothing happens  >:(

Are there any tutorials out there already or what do I have to do to get a front page that showcases:

1. row: feature images

2. row: newest images

display a pre-configured page with some welcome message etc.

Thanks in advance!

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Bullied by Istock??
« on: April 25, 2013, 22:48 »
Am I to understand that the OP, a German bloke who apparently runs a business with several employees, is actually complaining about being 'bullied' by a Canadian girl in Istock's CR team? 'Bullied' how __ because she asked a few questions of you?

Why so keen to play the hand-wringing victim? Why don't you just grow a pair, answer the questions and stand up for yourself like any normal person would do?

'Bullied' __ my arse.
I'm not taking sides here (although it probably appears so...) but the German bloke and Canadian girl thing isn't going to work here nor is it of any relevance.

Photographer A gets questioned by agency B for something that is out of the question.

If I boil this soup down, I get a situation like this:

Just because I own a faster car, I am more likely to get pulled over over for presumably "speeding" without actually measuring the speed I was going at.

To me it appears that Axel is trying to explain that the sole fact that he is running a business employing photographers is enough "evidence" for IS to question whether all of his content is coming from him personally.

I find this quite upsetting as:

1. long no other photographer claimed a copyright infringement at IS for content in Axel's portfolio
and
2. Axel signed a contract with IS (as we all did - or whoever is left on that ship anyway...) stating that all uploaded content comes from him (individual photographer).

While IS considers this behavior as "legitimate" research to ensure a proper copyright situation it is nonetheless a frustrating and time consuming matter over which I would be upset as well.

The world won't stop turning and as much as Axel is blowing steam all over the place he still has a business to run and is uploading images to other agencies - I dare to assume that he is well aware that the world won't end with this annoying issue at hand with IS.

I'm just trying to build a bridge between people who passionately try to break the language and cultural barrier.

Anywho, this is as far as I'm gonna go. I hope we still can all learn from each other and that everyone can respect other members here for constructive discussions.

@Click_Click
Thank you very much for you help.
You interpretation is pretty much what happened and i really thought that i wrote it down in an understandable way but probably i didnt.
Like  i said very often - i really do not care about rejections!!
But i do care (and i become deeply desperate) if rejections are stupid, irrational and if "supporters" behave like napoleon when you complain

OK, in these cases i really become sarcastic and ironic which is not the best way to solve problems and that might have led to the topic we are talking about in this thread.
But i am to old to learn how to do the perfect kowtow.

regards axel
I'm trying to help everyone out here, both you and everyone responding to you to get things cleared out.

Since I've come to the US I learned the hard way that the "typical" German way of addressing issues is not going to get you very far as most of your conversation partners will just shut up instead of trying to carrying on a conversation where you are trying to make a point.

Sometimes it takes me quite a while to get my point across because of both the language barrier and also the culture shock effect.

Nobody should be offended by Axel. He doesn't mean to be offensive even if it appears on the first look.

In Germany issues can be discussed in quite a heated manner on both sides which does not mean that either party is mad at the other one.

Trying to make a point can become somewhat "emotional" at some point of the discussion.

We all might yank someone's leg every now and then but neither Shady Sue nor Axel meant to be mean to each other.

I've refrained from complaining about agencies here on the forum as it's always a matter of perspective that not always applies to the OP situation (not referring to the funky copyright infringement cases we had here - LOL).

Maybe we can all get along...?

OK good that SS support appears to be watching this thread and read my comment...

Did you hear from someone at SS?  Did they suggest anything that they might not be legit?

Keep us posted.
No I didn't hear from SS.

This meant to be a comic remark about me not getting as many sales as others...

Sorry for the confusion!  :-X
