This is a silly comment and completely unfair. You're paying for a website, basically, that is your own, and a photo selling solution that would be expensive to create and maintain on your own.

I've used it a lot. It depends on what you're trying to do, but it is functional, if somewhat outdated. A new version is due out someday, but it's been pending for years.
Again, depending on what you're trying to do, there are other options as well - Pixaria.com, cmsacount.com, etc., each with good and bad points.

I think the critical part of the original post was "for my client" - greeting cards, web templates, etc. that are part of client collateral are generally fine. As soon as that moves to greeting cards or templates for general resale, it's needs an extended license.

It does depend on specifics, but I think all of these would be allowed uses under most Royalty-Free licenses. Certainly those of most, if not all, major microstock sites, (I believe).

Jazz and others, I have a quick note about keywording workflow. Earlier this year I worked with the developer of GraphicConverter ( www.lemkesoft.com) to implement the feature of bulk IPTC metadata copying. I now send out low res images to have them keyworded - then I use GraphicConverter to copy all the metadata from the low res jpg files to the high res tiff files. Files have to be named identically, but can be different types. This is MUCH easier than sending large files. I can do thousands in just my standard DropBox account. FWIW /pd

I see thinkstock ads everywhere - it has more to do with the fact that I've visited the TS site - now I'm targeted by ad servers. It has much more to do with your browsing history and market segment. And the ad network.

I've dealt with this for years and years - ongoing. One of the best books I've read is called "It's Not Carpal Tunnel Syndrome," which works with the fact that once carpal tunnel is out of the diagnosis, medical care is out of ideas, BUT there are many other RSI injuries that relate to hands/shoulders/neck, etc that still hurt. The book works on how to deal with that. And I have something called an ErgoRest (more than one, actually).

Yes you can run an agency although its not tailored for that specific use, there are no limits on traffic or anything else beyond image storage.
The system only has one user - the owner, but it would be very easy to extend this to accommodate other authors with an upload facility and even automate the monthly payments to your authors.
If there is enough interest in having this kind of system im sure we can accommodate.

I see potential with this as an option - being able to truly "white label" it would be a differentiator, and perhaps would be a motivator to let you introduce a slightly higher pricing tier. I think Photoshelter's version of this concept is $250/month, which puts it out of most ranges. But for boutique agency, etc, more like $50/monthly is easier to swing (vs. hosting yourself). I would say you need SOME bandwidth limit, just because (as I've found out), there's always a limit. "Unlimited" means "until you crash our servers and we kick you off"

It seems that you could run a botique agency out of this setup - would you say you are competing against the agency-in-a-box scripts?
Hosting of the script in a setup that gets significant traffic will cost $30 + a ton of headaches.
Are there traffic limits to this setup? Is it restricted to a "person" and not an "agency"?
Are there allowances to let other people, beyond the main user, upload?

They did a visual overhaul, but yes, I agree, the benefit of being owned by a more powerful company has not translated to much market push (yet?).

Shutterstock is an expensive place to get images (subscriptions and lesser used $49 image credits) while BS is a lower market provider featuring cheaper credits ($15 minimun). Without polluting the SS brand, they get to compete in the lower tier market. Seems a good move.

This gets complicated because when they trademark the logo, part of the image copyright is being attached to them (I would guess). This renders any other use or sale of the image complicated at best.... I've always wondered how this could be resolved. If this disallows you from selling a best seller, they should buy the rights and it should be expensive, it seems.
