If you're looking for a specific photo of, say, an orange, type oranges in the search box. You'll end up with more than 12000 photos with orange in their keyword... And the first orange might be in the 3rd page!
Now try a search with oranges in the lightbox search box and you will find a lightbox of oranges photos which contains only photos of oranges. Lightboxes are usefull because in most cases, someone had already picked good shots of a given subject. Not true all the times but useful! 278

From what I understand, I will not receive any form of interest from my contribution; and it is ok for me.
But I can't see anywhere how much the "receiver" will pay for the loan. I sincerely hope that the loan will be interest free; but then how this organization will maintain its operation? Claude 280

There is a really cheap solution that also work:
You can buy one of those cheap photocell trigger like this one: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Wireless-Hot-Shoe-Sync-Adapter-Flash-Slave-Trigger_W0QQitemZ280172009299QQihZ018QQcategoryZ15221QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I bought one and it works well. I use the pop-up flash to trigger my 430 and I have another one to trigger an old EZ flash (from the first generation of film EOS). Of course the adjustments are trial/error but it works... Sometimes I have to diffuse the pop-up with a piece of paper but these cells are pretty sensible and fire everytime. Claude 282

Thank you Adelaide,
So from what I understand, in FT, when you search for a photo, only the keywords that are of the same language than the search terms are used? I guess you're right, categories must be used in some secret way to show results... And I still don't like putting my photos into categories! ![]() Claude 288
General - Top Sites / Re: There is any way to boost or avoid the categories step?« on: November 05, 2007, 19:55 »They don't actually translate keywords into the many languages, but translated search terms. But you don't specify the category when you do a search, so even if they translate the search term before doing the search, categories are useless... If the answer you are reffering to is not too far, I would appreciate to read more about this. Thanks Adelaide Claude 289

And could anybody tell me what these categories are for???
Honestly, are they useful for anyone? I don't even know how to make a search using categories (in fact, I don't care!)... Maybe that their utility is to slow down the process of uploading ![]() Claude 290

I use on a regular base Auto-bracketing, about + or - 1.5 to 2 stops.
I re-discover manual focusing with the "Live View" of my new 40D. It's amazing how it can be usefull, you can enlarge 10 times the image on the screen and then manual focus live on the screen, and right on the spot you want! Claude 291

In my opinion, if you have the $$$, then go for the 40D. Or go for the 400D and if you really like it, change for the 40D within a year. Your 400D will still have a good resale value so this could be a "smart" decision.
I just changed my 350D for the new 40D and I found the 40D to fantastic. Compared to the 350, it goes farther on every aspect. I don't regret my move ![]() Claude 296

StockXpert.com / Re: how strict should they be?« on: October 11, 2007, 17:12 »
I think that StockXpert, like all the others, must be strict on technical issues. We will all benefit from the high standards they impose to us.
But what I do not accept are rejections based on poor arguments like "we do not need these kind of photos" or so. They don't buy photos, they sell them! If a photo is technically ok, then give it a chance! If it is a matter of storage, then discard all the photos with 0 dl after 6 or 12 months; these photos do not sell... Claude 299
