I'm in the same boat as you Zalee. I don't use social media too much to upload my work. I haven't applied yet because I don't know what to do. Sean mentions they will do a search on you so even if you don't submit your social links, they will see them anyway ...
Plus, the work on my Facebook page is very "artsy" and I would never submit it to stocksy.

I've been working really hard and saving exclusive images for stocksy to apply so I'm going to make a new portfolio web link to show them ONLY these exclusive files.
I'm still trying to pick the best ones from the sessions to show them. It is hard because I only have this one shot to impress them.

You need also to have a social media presence, you need to show active social presence etc. If you dont have that, they might reject you as well

I like Adobe/FT because new images have a chance there. It is very refreshing but they are still a low earner.
I have no idea what is going on with the SS search engine. People on the forum will tell you that you need to make better images but I don't believe it. Something is very wrong with the algorithm.

One time my camera setting switched to the "small" size setting instead of "large" so I couldn't use anything I shot that session (an abandoned house). I always check that setting now ... Not sure how it happened to begin with.

I have high hopes for Graphicstock too. Please let this agency restore some respect to photographers. I didn't mind .38 cents when I was getting a lot of downloads but now that SS is tanking it doesn't seem worth it anymore.

Totally agree with you (stockmarketer),
"they sort by image number which makes it impossible to see how well new stuff is selling vs old stuff."
The new design is such a pain. The old way of displaying the sales was much better. I knew right away if the new images had been sold.
