Epixx
would you care to share details of charges/limits incurred using Moneybookers as I understand it there is a fee when you transfer funds to a bank account.

FINALLY got verified
All the following figures are in Pounds
If you have a unverified personal account
you can receive 250 /month you can withdrawl 500/month
until you withdraw a total of 1,500 then you HAVE to get verified to withdraw any more money
Verification is a three step process
1 - provide your bank account details (if you have been withdrawing money they have that anyway) they deposit two small amounts in your account and you have to enter those on the paypal site.
2 - provide credit card details *
3 - provide your landline phone number you receive an automated call and you have to enter a number on your telephone.
* I eventually received a letter with a six digit code at the address my credit card bills go to which I had to enter on the site. (I had to e-mail to ask what the **** was going on I gave them my credit card details back in November)
Then you are verified and you can withdraw with no limits any withdraws less than 50 incur a 25p fee over 50 no fee.
HOWEVER you still have the 250/month receiving limit. This limit resets on a particularly day each month (the anniversary of the day you opened the PayPal account).
If you want to receive more than 250/month then you will have to upgrade to a premier or business account, whetre you may incur fees.
According to Kiya + GeoPappas if you have a premier or business account
no fees on receiving money from SS iS FT DT StockXpert but fees from CanStockPhoto??
anyone know about 123, FP, BigStock?
Monthly receiving limit UK/ Euroland/USA 250/ ?? ? ?? monthly withdrawl limit UK/ Euroland/USA 500/750E/$750 total withdrawl limit UK/ Euroland/USA 1,500/ 2,250E / $2,250

I suppose if you have ambigious keywords such as building and you don't DA then your sales may increase for the image turns up in searches where it shouldn't. However I found some of my images from St Andrews (in Scotland) were lost in searches as St = street and andrews referred to people.
I am wondering will iStock after a while force DA.
Been a great month at iStock so far they are 2nd biggest earner behind SS (FT doing quite well but I have a 4x bigger portfolio)

If you entered your keywords in Pixvue it will sort them from A-Z a bit of a bummer for FT as their first 7 keywords are most important or is this another microstock myth like their 2 million images.

Slow to load front page.
I was using IE6 with a 1024 x 768 display and wityh the frontpage the last column was off the screen with the search box, maybe put that column on the extreme left instead of extreme right just in case anyone isn't using 1200x1600 or better. Or maybe just make it all fit onto a single page, would need to resize thumbs.
Nice to see to read some text whilst the thumbnails loaded. What is the default order newest first?
I would separate download prices from prints to order prices, a nice idea downloads and prints.
Any prices for extended licences??
Great watermark maybe add site's name at bottom just in case some ****** copied it and used it at least you would get some advertising until you tracked them down and cut off their thumbs.
DISCLAIMER I know nothing I have no qualifications in webdesign and my own website is a work in progress which stalled weeks ago.

You can't really compare sales on SS with FT (or any other site), new photos always do well with SS newest first search option. I find that FT has a higher sales/view ratio I guess because of their floating thumbnails I had one image at DT over 600 views but no DLs I have almost made as much on FT this month as I did last month and its only the 18th. I seem to have been discovered at iStock (only took a year!) more downloads and higher payouts. Failed the iStock illustration test again I think they want you to spend an entire day on your illustrations. Unless that is an unmitigated disaster this should be the best month overall so far (my 12th month in Microstock)

I suspect the eggs did not sign a model release but the photographer maybe be claiming to have model releases for all their photos just in a customer is doing a search for only photos with model release, its one of their options.
I have now over 2,000 RM images online at Alamy so I am rather hoping to have another sale there.

StockXpert one of the easiest upload systems but one of the worse review systems, in my opinion.
I recently had one photo rejected for being too dark and it was accepted by iStock and given 5/5 within a day of uploading.

I found a significant improvement in DLs with photos with more than one word in the title such as "celtic cross" "notre dame" etc
I am using imagemanager to upload and once the files have been accepted I go through the DA ordeal

On a brighter note I had my best day at iStock yesterday nothing to break open the champagne but considering they were my 5th best site with 8% of my income it looks promising for 2007 especially with the increased upload limits if only I could pass their illustration test

Firstly thanks to everyone for not saying "told you so"
Yes I was a very silly only uploading 4mp to DT. I e-mailed support I can resubmit 8mp files using the usual process and delete the original if accepted so I will try that over the next month starting with my best selling images, though that will work against me if I am close to achieving level 2.
Regarding cleaning out the trash I am quite concerned about having any images that have not been DLed after a year deleted. Considering I have a portfolio exposure of 25% that means I could be losing quite a chunk of my portfolio. Fortunately I haven't even been a member there 12 months.
Free images very worth while if its on the front page of a site that receives visitors (Istock or DT) not so great when it is lost amongst 1,000s of other free images such as at FT. Where you receive credits when a new visitor downloads one of your files these payouts used to be worth something but any of late have been fractions of a cent so I will be clearing out my free images at FT shortly.

SS generally like my illustrations but are more picky with my photos always best to split similar photos into different batches and wait until the first has been reviewed before submitting.
Obviously SS don't believe FT 2 million image count either.

The usual weekly update
FT 2,091,567 [2,038,858] +52,709 SS 1,370,882 [1,351,038] +19,844 IS 1,352,660 [1,335,000] +17,660
DT 870,000* [860,000] +10,000 BigStock 795,000 [781,000] +14,000 123 [500,000+]
StockXpert 360,625 CanStockPhoto 343,705 [338,944] +4,761 FP 157,296 [151,184] +6,112
SPM 95,301 [94,308] +993
*4th Jan figure so BigStock aren't catching up on DT as fast as you would think
What does it all mean?
Not a lot but at least you can see which sites still have photographers confidence and are continuing to upload.
Regarding FT's 2 million images I strongly suspect (and I am sure I am not alone) they count their free images so there isn't really 2 million images for your images to be lost in though for popular subjects on any site good keywording is vital.

I am sure this was discussed and explained about a month ago but i can't find the original post.
Here is the little table I made back then
New Price structure starting Jan 2007 photographers will receive 20% of the actual price of the credit sold
300 x 400 1 credit 19c - 24c 600 x 800 2 credits 38c - 48c ( old price 1 credit payout 20c) 1200 x 1600 2mp 4 credits 76c - 96c - (old price 3 credit payout 60c) - medium size 1920 x 2560 5mp 6 credits $1.14 - $1.44 (old price 5 credit payout $1) 2800 x 4200 11.7 mp 10 credits $1.90 - $2.40 3300 x 4900 15 mp 15 credits

I'm a bit confused
I uploaded 25 photos to iStock on Saturday (I have over 500 DLs at iStock) but the newbie limit is 20 ?

I must admit I was a bit disappointed about the hold on uploads being away from my broadband since the 18th of December and I was eager to upload illustrations. I was surprised by the strange financial details but their subscription payout increased again 34c per DL in December

Here are my earnings breakdown for 2006
SS 36%
DT 17.1% FT 12.1%
iS 8.7% StockXpert 8.2% 123 7.9%
BigStock 4.9% CanStockPhoto 2.5% FP 1.6% SPM 0.8%
December overall was a bit disappointing at SS, DT and FT were down but it was my best month ever at StockXpert, BigStock + FP.
Unlike everyone else it seems I didn't give up on SPM and with just under 1800 images there I have found myself on the front page as one of the "top contributor" if only they had some visitors.

Good to hear the vector images will be OK I hope they get accepted though shock horror StockXpert which hate my illustrations with the fire of a 1,000 suns accepted them. Now on Bank of England notes there is a (C) symbol there was actually a case of an artist who would make drawings of currency and use that as payment in restaurants etc. The treasury were not amused. Actually my SS rasterized vector rejections were a lesson not to put too much detail into illustrations if you are going to make medium sized jpg as my snowflakes came out a bit blurred One image that was rejected as a simple vector was an accepted as a JPG

We have removed the photos below for the following reason:
We can no longer take images of English currency or the Pound symbol.
I had four photos deleted three of which just used a very small part of a scanned bank note the 10 bit in fact. I made a vector replacement as some were selling reasonably well but if the symbol is now off limits. I notice my pics are still coming up in the search as others of much more blatant copyright issues virtually the whole backnote I hope the dollar and euro are not next. 3pod did they delete your zulu pound 3D rendering? that really would be taking it a step too far. After having being very lucky at SS with accepatances two bad batches 9/49 rasterized eps files (Christmas/new year themes so maybe they are just sick of thme this late in the season) 8/38 London unfortunately reviewed by the same reviewer

Yep 2-3 day wait for media received not reviewed e-mail.
The test batch always takes ages
In my experience
Day 1 post media Day 3 media received e-mail day 6 processing - number of images mentioned day 14 awaiting QC (approximately) day 30 passed QC
Huge keywording exercise and then viewable with 24-48 hours
Usually 4-5 weeks to get them pass QC though if you send a few CDs a few weeks apart sometimes the later CDs get uploaded faster. I had one CD online within 9 days.
The new

Spooky I posted two questions yesterday and both were answered this morning it was the second CD (thank God I had a different number of images on each disc) so a 2-3 day turn around.
