I know that in most cases a recession would be a negative thing, but since microstock photography is so cheap then maybe a recession wouldn't do very much damage. In fact, maybe it would actually help the microstock photography model(not that I want a recession). Companies would probably be less inclined to purchase expensive photographs from Getty, and would instead switch to iStockphoto or another similar microstock agency. And microstock photography is a world wide market, so we don't have to worry as much about a single country going into a recession. Even if it is the United States. Am I right?

I made this Squidoo website/lens a couple of months ago, and just wanted to know your thoughts on it. Have I covered pretty much everything, or do you think I need to add something? Thanks. http://www.squidoo.com/sell-merchandise

I've been receiving less rejections of late, but I was fairly terrible in the beginning. So I think this is mostly because I've improved a bit.

For $.40, Dreamstime will keyword your images for you. That's $.40 per image of course. You can then simply copy and paste those keywords that Dreamstime provides into iStockphoto and Fotolia.

And by affiliate links, I am referring to microstock affiliate links(like Stockxpert). I just wanted to check. Thanks.

With one hundred and five images, I'm averaging about fifteen to twenty downloads a day(not on weekends). So far so good.

Yeah, I'm not having any problems either.

Meh, I uploaded thirty photos a few days ago and twenty five were accepted. Perhaps, you shouldn't upload so many at one time?

As long as they're text ads, I don't mind too much. Though the Google ads will take the visitors away from the image, which means that the image is less likely to sell. But Dreamstime should really use referral links since they're more exact in what they show. A genital crab breakthrough has nothing to do with a hammock. And we should get a cut in the Google ad revenue.

I was having a slow month. But yesterday things picked up a bit, and it seems more like a normal month now.

Well, the fact that IS is having maintenance issues isn't helping any. Personally, I had an okay September except for the last couple of days. Things will probably go back to normal in a few days or weeks. It just depends on how quickly their problems are fixed. And if it doesn't go back to normal then that's fine too because I'm with most of the other major agencies as well.

I would get the Digital Rebel XT, tripod, macro lens, telephoto lens, protection filters, camera bag, and a light tent if you're going to shoot isolated objects. I tried just using a Sigma macro telephoto lens in the beginning for my close up shots, but it just didn't get close enough. So if you're planning on doing lots of macro shots, I would buy a macro lens.

Ugghh... This reeks of Fotolia V2 all over again! It sure doesn't help matters that Getty's stock has been dropping to bargain-basement prices lately. If they start making cuts, will they make cuts at IS----maybe from the IT dep't?? Hopefully not.
** sigh **
Nah, Getty's stock is doing okay. Their debt is low, and their cash flow is also still positive. Many stocks across the board have been going down for the last couple of months. It's just a correction. Well, the housing market has also been dragging everything down a bit too. But still, I'm sure that Getty's stock price will stabilize to thirty to thirty five dollars per share in a couple of months. Perhaps more.

Things will change though - there's an election on the horizon, and I'm hopeful that most Americans will make good choices.
Let's hope so(this coming from an American).

So my best selling image on iStockphoto is a macro shot of a dime(heads up). I don't even think it's that great of a photo anymore. It looks blown out and the background should be white. But people seem to like it. What about the rest of you? Anyone have a not so great photo that has sold well beyond what you think it should? http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup.php?id=3705078

Thanks everyone. So far three of the eight have sold today.

I got an 8 out of 10. The only question I have now is how long until those eight images are active? Or do I have to resubmit them or something? I'm assuming that it's just going to take twenty four hours or so until my images show up in the search engine. Now I just have to avoid probation.

I agree about the DOF. On the cellphone and especially on the bug the lack of focus renders the image unusable for design.
And I would add that all I saw was very badly isolated. Except the subject, it should be perfectly #FFF all over.
? The pizza is perfectly white. Except for the shadow of course.

Typically, I don't worry about the driver's license number too much. I mean, I have to show my driver's license to people all the time for credit card purchases; etc. Now if my social security number was on the driver's license then I would definitely blur that out. And I would be a lot more paranoid when I had to show it to someone.
