Nice publicity for Stocksy, but it's so closed (so few people are accepted) that I'm not sure how what it does applies to any of the open platforms or marketplaces.
There's clearly some very bad things happening to Uber drivers even as customers love the service; and to neighborhoods when Airbnb is effectively operating hotels in residential neighborhoods. I'm hoping that changes will happen there, but I can't make the connection with the Stocksy model as the way to bring it about
Unfortunately, we need to be protected from each other as well. I don't think there are many other ways to do it than not inviting everyone to the party.

If I ever get a sale there, then it might pass FT.

I earned approximately - none of your business and what a stupid nosy invading question. Okay now that is out of the way and I have vented, I earned between $0 and $1,000,000. Now I will get all the doubters this forum thrives on and they will ask me to see my portfolio to prove it.
You've revealed too much. Now, we know you're not one of the ones over $1 million.

Yeah, it just sounded like a subs program that they chose not to call a subs program.

Not to mention, "free" doesn't necessarily mean without copyright or ownership.

Taxes are kind of a loaded question. I probably only write a check to Uncle Sam for about 20%, but that doesn't include health insurance or other perks that higher taxes might get you in another country. I live in a state with no state income tax, but that might mean I pay more in property tax or sales tax than another state. I'd say if you are planning on moving to look at all the factors.

You just import a jpeg and an eps with the same name, fix the keywords, add categories, move them all into the upload bin, and start the uploads. I guess if that is not working, then you may want to try upgrading or reinstalling the software.

Since we launched the new subscription site two years ago, it has become very popular and today brings in by far the vast majority of YAYs revenue.
Well, we wouldn't want to mess up YAY's revenue.

You don't see much buying and selling of portfolios because the value usually isn't there on either side. A lot of portfolios probably should be worth more because of the time and quality in them, but they don't have the best opportunity for growth to a potential buyer. So, it is a lot easier for the artist to continue to run them.

I've been using Lightroom 4 with El Capitan. I haven't seen any problems. The new operating system fixed some of the issues I was having in Photoshop and Illustrator. I'd recommend the upgrade.

It's a mixed bag of people you never hear from again and people that end up being good customers. Probably everything in between too. I try to subtly discourage phone calls, but they aren't too bad. Some people just like to talk on the phone or put a voice to the person.

If it makes you feel better, I didn't get accepted there. So, I guess some files is better than none.

I'm sure some people find work that is fun and easy. Maybe. I've never found it. Being a full-time photographer is hard work, too. I sometimes put in 16-18 hour days with travel. No overtime pay. No vacation. No sick days.
Well, vector illustrator work involves being in front of the computer the whole day without leaving home...
I think that even doing the work you love, when you repeat it for 8-10 hours a day for years it becomes boring
I find it tough to work more than 6 hours. I don't think I could do 8 or 10 hours a day.

I quit advertising!
Here's how you do it:
1. Miss your umpteenth flight to L.A. to shoot yet another bad commercial because you're still jet lagged from the red eye you took back from L.A. two days before, but you had to fly back because you had 100 things to do at the office and nobody would cover for you.
2. Call your partner from the airport to tell him you missed your flight, you'll miss the day's casting, you've had it and you're not doing this any more.
3. Each time someone from work calls to convince you to come back, laugh and say no thanks. Repeat five times.
That's all there is to it!
(Is there a way to make a living that doesn't suck?)
Congrats. That makes stock art sound easy.

I abandoned the FTP and use the web uploader. You basically have to do small batches and then babysit those to make sure they work. Shutterstock has quickly become one of the worst upload processes and that is saying a lot when there are so many companies vying for that title.

They've done a good job of preventing me from using the forum at all. I can't seem to get it to work in Firefox.

You should probably separate your vectors and rasters/photos anyway. You'll have to eventually do it at some other site too.

It looks like it is multiple artists too. I see Chromaco's eagle head in one of the designs as well and others look like multiple styles combined.

Are any of you planning to attend Photoshop World in Las Vegas next week (11th-13th August)? We will be in the Adobe Stock booth each day and would love to meet you in person to discuss anything Fotolia/Adobe Stock related. Come say hi!

If anybody is there that was responsible for the Adobe CC 2015 release, can you kick them in the shins for me? I've been yelling at my computer a lot this week.

Feel free to send me my sweetheart deal, Scott. Otherwise, I'll probably be sitting on the sideline until I see the needle move a little bit at FT/Adobe.

That's a shame. I wouldn't mind making an exclusive collection for them to test it out. I guess I could always make it a raster collection, but it seems like if it is going to be raster then there should be a reason (effects or something else that makes it special). Maybe too much thought for a test though.

Do they sell vectors?
