I guess money is what makes THEM happy.
I think that is unfair. They reported what caused the anomaly. Giving the benefit of the doubt that they are honest in their explanations, they seem reasonable.
There was a computer goof, both in currency (since 1AUD < 1USD) and in double-reporting. That has been corrected. If I were driving the ship, I might have handled the communication differently, but the end result would have been the same. Obviously, tell us first. Then possibly roll back the excess payment over 3 months, or such that no contributor went below 50% of expected revenue in any given month, until it was recaptured.
The end result would have been the same regardless. You had a windfall in June due to software error. The error has been fixed, and the account normalized.
Not really any different than if your bank (Wells Fargo or whoever) accidentally put extra money into your account one month. That money is not yours, and will be recaptured when recognized. One couple discovered that just last month when they found an extra $100K in their account. They went out and spent it, and are now in court for grand theft as a result...
It wasn't just June - some refunds went back to last year. Istock can claw the money back from me, so tomorrow I'll phone the IRS and see if they'll let me claw the overpaid tax back from them. No wait, I'll have to wait until my next return goes in to make that adjustment. Thanks, Istock, as usual, you acted with total disregard for the consequences or impact this would have on your contributors. "Not really any different than if your bank (Wells Fargo or whoever) accidentally put extra money into your account one month. That money is not yours, and will be recaptured when recognized."It's very different when you genuinely believe and have a statement from Istock verifying the fact that you have earned this money.

When I asked in early August, I was told that the report would come after the first quarter and it had only just launched. Thereafter it will be reported monthly.
I will close my account on 1st November unless I see a decent return for my images.

How many downloads is Gold?
Gold rank is 10,000 downloads. To the previous question yes, Fotolia rank is Adobe Stock rank for this bonus.
-Mat
Thanks, Mat, nearly 3/4 of the way so I'll soon be eligible, (I hope).

Just had to spend $50 on a new protective UV filter after dropping a camera this morning. It only dropped 6 inches, but the filter smashed to a million bits. Thankfully the $2000 24-70 F2.8 came out completely unscathed.
It's the second time that's happened to me, and I'm all for using the filter. It doesn't have to be cheap plastic, but a mid-quality option is usually sufficient and much cheaper than a new lens.

Great news, (for once!), and I should qualify for the Photography plan again.
However, I recently upgraded to the full CC package, so will I be offered a discount to the value of the photo plan?
Thank you!
Kat
Hi Kat,
No, there isn't a discount option based on the CCP bonus. You could gift it to a friend or family member. If you did, I'm sure you would be regarded as a personal hero to whomever you gifted it which is a priceless opportunity right?
-Mat
*, I only just signed up. Ah well, I have no one to gift it to but it was a nice idea anyway.

They recommend 5-15 keywords I'm not sure they have it as an actual rule. Canstock are well known for their bizarre rejections.
It may only be a recommendation, but they used it as a justification for my rejections.
No worries, as although it's annoying, it is Canstock, and having images approved doesn't generally change the bottom line!
They've pretty much rejected everything I've submitted since, so I am within a hair's breadth of pulling my port anyway.
I've not had that..I certainly won't waste time editing down my keywords if they start doing this. The only reason I submit there is its zero effort.
Ditto. They have the lowest returns by a long, long way, so I won't be editing anything to suit their requirements.

Well-spotted!
Same style of captions as the last mole with the images from Reuters.
I would post it on the SS thread but my account is blocked until tomorrow, am a one-month probation period where all my posts are moderated and have -4 points from my account!
Sorry to hear that

How many times has this been said...
Every agency has different rules in their agreement. It is up to the contributor to read the agreement and submit accordingly. So the OP DID spam according to canstocks rules. They only want up to 15 keywords. You submit more, you are spamming ACCORDING TO THEIR RULES, not mine. LOL.
Yes, I agree, stupid rules.
I'd be happy with it if they applied their own rules across the board. However, it's a lottery as to whether they will accept more keywords or reject.

I was sick to death with these keyword rejections on Canstock, so I recently emailed them about it.
I do not spam and work hard to pick relevant keywords, so it was frustrating to have Istock, Shutterstock, Adobe, Alamy, etc.etc. approve the images that are constantly rejected by Canstock.
They responded by telling me that their requirements are that we add between 5-15 keywords only. I have several thousand images with way more than 15 keywords approved on Canstock, and new submissions also have way more. I think there are some reviewers who stick to the rule and some who don't, making the contributor experience there one of the most frustrating in the industry.

I also invested time in the SYmbiostock project and eventually went my own way and built a Wordpress site. It was a fun task and I learned loads, but ultimately it wasn't worth it. The hosting came up for renewal recently, and I let it go, kept my domain and joined SmugMug. Plans start from about $50 a year with unlimited photo storage. It was a no brainer for me, as it's a cheap offsite backup. If anyone is interested in taking a look, I'm more than happy for you to use my referral link https://secure.smugmug.com/signup?Coupon=F6WLnZ

I have single uses mainly $1, some 90c and a few $1.40 - for which I got paid 35c each. Then I have (had!!!) multi use ones $10, I got $3.50. Nothing else....
If I were you, I would write to them and ask. They do at least have a fairly responsive support team....
The $1.40 sales with 35c payout I guess shows they aren't doing 35% anymore. Did they announce anything about this?
My understanding was that this was for a non dollar currency and the value was approximately one dollar so we still get .35 (I only read that somewhere, and can not vouch for it being actually true)
In other news it has been months since I got anything more than .35 per sale although last year I got a fair number of 3.50 and even a few $35 sales. My old reliable sellers have only sold a few times this month (as opposed to nearly every day in the past) and the images that were part of a pre-made image haven't sold at all this month and the last one was May 5th.
They confirmed this to me by email a while back.

Is anyone seeing anything odd on Istock?
I have a portfolio of over 2000 images, which show on 'Best Match', but only some 200 show on 'Newest'.

I think this is why our earnings going down, because of this new unlimited subscription
So when you're all still selling, that means you chose to support their unlimited subscription model? Because I asked to opt out of that with the result that my portfolio was removed...
So how do results of unlimited subscriptions look like? Has that started already?
I'm out of the loop and wasn't aware of this one. Off to do some research.....

I know Canva stopped uploads a while ago, then reinstated them I believe?
However, when I try to upload by FTP it fails an, when looking on the site, I can't even find an upload button.
My sales have tanked there - dropped by 80% in the last two month - so in amongst all the 'good news' that results in a massive earnings drop, did they also stop the uploading again?

I have the 'free year' for Photoshop/Lightroom, which runs until sometime later this year.
What happens if I wish to upgrade to the whole CC package? I can't cope with Premiere Pro CS6 any longer!
Just wanted to say thank, Adobe. I upgraded and was given a couple of month free, to compensate for the loss of the remaining months on my 'free' year. Good customer relations, which is much more than can be said for most stock sites these days!
