What is most important to succeed in microstock?

Wow! What an unfortunate name. :-\
Did anyone else think it said Clusterf**k at first?

And then they woke up ;)

Microstock has made me a much better photographer, no doubt!

Know more about Photoshop than I do about photography (no formal training). It would be a good idea for me to take some night classes at the university to learn more about photography basics or at least buy a good book. There are also a couple of photography clubs in my area that could be useful and fun.

BME overall. :) 28% increase in sales from previous month. 75% change from Jan 08.
The search engine changes at IS and DT have been very advantageous for me.
Passed 1000 downloads at IS this month with a little over a year of uploading.

BME by far. 65% change from previous month with 1 large EL.

Since $10,000/month is way more than I need to live comfortably, definitely would travel to all the places I haven't seen, maybe go on some cruises.  :) Buy a couple of acres and move to a rural area. Organize all the tools and wood down in my basement so I can start carving again. Work on some stained glass projects, paint some watercolors and upload photos when I feel like it. Will still take lots of photos because I love it. Read more books. Become an animal rehabilitation specialist.

Just sold a business card template along with the art file.  :)
A good incentive for me to upload more there.

Welcome!
How wonderful to have a former creative lead from one of the top microstock agencies.
Would love to learn more about your thoughts and experiences in this field. Would you like to share?

You upload the photo (with bleed built in) as a CMYK tif. Once it is uploaded you can choose a type template that will show how the text will look on on top of the photo background but I believe the customer can customize the type as well.

I'm pretty sure I remember that when you send the email to Tim to join he will ask you some questions and one of them is who referred you.

I've had two $5.00 sales in 4 months with about 30 templates uploaded. Would probably get more sales if I had about 100 templates but only add them when I feel like it. I guess I'm not very enthusiastic about it  ;)

Very good here

Congratulations!  ;D
Less than 60 downloads away to reach 1000 for me. Been uploading there a little over a year and started getting downloads last April. IS has been very good to me. :-*

My acceptance rate for DT over the last month is now the lowest of all the agencies. The same reason is used on all of the rejections "This is a very well covered subject" even on one-of-kind originals with nothing like it in the DT library. It is perplexing and frustrating and it would help me understand what is going on if the rejections made sense, but they don't. Maybe I should stop uploading for awhile?

Photoshop CS3 has an automated feature called Photomerge under File -> Automate. Just browse for the photos you want to combine and PS will do the work for you.

Seems to be very useful. I'd use it if I was a buyer. 8)

All of my recent rejections have that same reason. They seem to have become more strict about what they accept lately. Also faster review time. I believe they hired some more reviewers? I am being very careful about what I upload now.

And it is really amazing that people are doing well despite the bad economy. Maybe this is a sign that things are getting better! :D
