In the end, I closed my account. I did get paid out but it seemed a rather drastic measure to have to take just to get what was mine.

If Fotolio is your only agency, then you should be excited, but otherwise I can't see how it could matter a squit. AS makes more sales; someone else makes less.
Not necessarily. Here's a built in market of application users that might not have been interested in licensing before.
I guess if those built in users used to just ripoff images, I might agree with you, but generally speaking, given the saturation and inexpensive nature of the market, if you need images, you're buying them someplace. It's not like a designer is going to just notice "hey what a great idea, I can place images in my design."

Does it really matter? I mean the grand difference between the two is 0.1% Conform to one or the other in the timeline you have and get on with it.

I try not to go beyond 4 hours for one clip and I have determined the sweet spot to be 22.57493222 seconds

i gave up ULing video to SS. getting fiber optic in my hood next year with 50 mbps both ways so I will try then
Apparently it won't matter. I was thinking of upgrading to something faster too but P5 and others swallow up large files reasonably well but SS is like having one of those old modems that you put your phone into.

Is anyone else finding ftp speeds to SS really slow lately? I asked my internet company, they say it's west coast to east coast bottleneck but speeds to P5 and others are all within 80% of max for my plan while SS is down to 10% and lower. It's getting to the point of useless especially for 4k video.

That sounds right. I too had the same issue. I recoded to a slightly lesser file to make the clip <1G and it uploaded fine. The thing is it won't tell you you have gone astray.

I terminated my account and don't lurk anymore. I can't see how changing the structure to a forum is going to make it better or worse. It depends on what people on there want to contribute. If you want to say something about a technical matter and there is no specific area for this, you'll find the next best thing. The biggest change they could have made would have been to silence their henchman.

There's quite a good documentary on a street photographer has just been released on DVD, Finding Vivian Maier
It was shown on the Beeb a couple of times last year and was excellent, but I'm not sure which of these YouTube options it was:

the market forces don't care about the social consequences of all this, and the governments have abdicated from their natural role ... the entire West is de facto at the mercy of the greediest and most corrupt multinationals and speculators in housing, education, food, energy and pretty much any primary item humans need, sooner or later they will privatize even water with the excuse of global warming.
You forget that, what you want, has been tried for 50 years in Eastern Europe, with disastrous social consequences. You forget that systems where some "elite" tried to fight the market forces failed miserably.
Before '89, East Germany was way behind West Germany, despite being populated by the same Germans. Look at South an North Korea. Same people, two systems. There is no need to highlight, which one belives that rules and regulations, instead if market forces, will bring prosperity (instead of inequality driven by greedy capitalists  )
You want more government control, more artificial rules, laws and regulations? You don't have to be Nostradamus, to imagine where it will end. Just look at North Korea. History can easily repeat itself.
There isn't much logic in taking an original argument about basic minimum wages in the US and comparing it to the system in North Korea.

It is widely reported on the Interweb that The Millennials are quite a departure from previous generations of humanity, in ways which are perhaps not all positive.
That has been widely reported about every generation for centuries, if not longer. 
Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers. Any guesses who's quote this is?

Has it worked in SeaTac, a tiny Seattle suburb that adopted $15 per hour months ago? It has not.
In a follow-up piece in the Asian Weekly, a handful of workers voiced this displeasure of the new wages unintended consequences:
Are you happy with the $15 wage? I asked the full-time cleaning lady.
It sounds good, but its not good, the woman said.
Why? I asked.
I lost my 401k, health insurance, paid holiday, and vacation, she responded. No more free food, she added.
The hotel used to feed her. Now, she has to bring her own food. Also, no overtime, she said. She used to work extra hours and received overtime pay.
What else? I asked.
I have to pay for parking, she said.
Another SeaTac worker, a waitress, said her tips dropped sharply after the new wage law took effect.
Let me guess which you you vote.

Deciding on frame rate is part of that decision. The 4096 flavour only comes in 24p while the 3840 gives you 30p. 24P apparently has a very high judder during pans. Much more than would be expected for the lower frame rate or for cameras and even film at the same settings. Do a Google, there's a fair amount written about this. Unless you want several timelines, or have a specific need, or just feel that 24p has better sales potential with the slightly wider view, then to me, 30p at 3840 would be the choice.

Zach, I know you want to keep it simple but I feel your pricing for HD footage is too cheap. It of course matters what percentage we receive but $49 to the customer for all footage is too low. I would need to see some option for higher pricing. At this point I would pass on your company.
Zeus has a point. Even though the commissions are 100%, $49 for HD is a little low. Not cheap per se, but it could be higher. ClipCanvas sells for $69 or so, SS sells for $79 for a HD clip. Why not make the $49 a $59 or something?

I agree. Customers in micro stock are already paying bottom of the barrel prices at $79 and I don't hear them complaining. All $49 is going to do, assuming VB gets some traction, is to force SS to lower their prices to remain competitive. So at $49 at SS, we would see a basic commission reduction from $23 to $14. And we'd have VB to thank for that. Personally I don't care that their study showed that people want cheaper HD videos. They are already paying $79.
Hey, I want a $500 GH4 and I bet most of the photographers worldwide do to. Does that mean Panasonic should lower their prices because buyers want that? No. They keep it where it is because people pay their marketed price. Now, if nobody bought them, they would have to lower their price, but that's not the case. And it's not the case with micro stock video either.
I did a study around my household just now and the dog wants more walks, my daughter wants more data for her phone and I want a nap; none of which are going to happen.
