I am all for doing something. Wont be around much until the new year but I really think we need to find a better way to get our images to the buyers. It costs far too much at the moment and the sites are cutting their costs and reducing our commissions. I would like to show them we can do this by ourselves if we need to.

This is why I avoided Flickr for a long time. There's no mistaking he stole it because security is set to give the spaceball.gif so it's a screenshot or something.
Anybody ever have to deal with this? What have you done about it?
Plus some designer just hit me up for using an image in return for "a nice placement of my name on the new site". Yippie. I responded with a quote.

I had been in a similar situation before where a guy on FLICKER stole my image.

The moment I found out, I replied in the comment area asking him to take off the photo, he never did. Therefore, I sent an email and a letter to Yahoo.com and they never responded. My image is still under his name. I dont think there is much you can do unfortunately unless you have some sort of copyright and that you can legally ask him to take it off.

Cafe 07 has an iStock watermark right on it and the same image is on Dreamstime. Can't be more obvious.
But Yahoo has never done anything to protect our rights. Many photographers complained about it, and they do not have time to respond to everyone. Kone

Hi All,
Please try to weigh the extra money you MIGHT make with what you are letting go of as an individual contractor. You might make more now but what about tomorrow and future contract changes, haven't they shown in the past that they alter the best match and other portions of their collection. Do you really want to be at the mercy of someone else decision like that. That is why I quit the standard work force, I wanted to be in control of my future.

Also, dont forget people that Getty had been exclusive, and has always had exclusive photographers and everyone says that they are expensive to buy from but they have operated for years and are still at the top.
Perhaps if all sites were exclusive it would be better for us.
I am non-exclusive and I think Ill stay so for some time but if this all works well with istock then Ill think about exclusivity, As well, about 35% of my earnings are from Istock. Another thing, Istock has opened the door for the Vetta Collection and Getty, which is a huge plus in any case, no other agencies do that.
I would like to see other agencies respond to Istocks call.
Somebody already said we are there for money, not for fun anymore. So we will go where the money is.

kako sam ja razumio, da tu ima i tvojih slika?
Who cares ako nije "pravna osoba", OSOBA postoji i ilegalno zaradjuje pare od vasih slika ili ilustracija.
Nemozete tjerati FotoSpring jer oni kao firma nemaju nista sa ovim. Ja nekazem da mozda ta osoba nije bila vlasnik ili sto drugo ali to nije fer da se kiti vasim perjem.
Nemozete ni od Suttera traziti da vam isplati jer oni nisu policija ili sud. Oni mogu u najgorem slucaju suspendirati account.
To je krada Suljo, zamisli ja uzmem tvoju sliku i prodajem je pod mojim imenom.?!?
Neko to bar mora zaustaviti ako ne naplatiti nazad odstetu.
Ja vam zelim sve najbolje.

Besides good keywords and good images and a large portfolio, what else can be done to maximize fotolia's potential for a person's portfolio? I've been using folders...seems kinda like lightboxes.
Are there any other strategies/stuff one can join in fotolia to keep things moving?

A to je s onim porezom koji je shutterstock uveo, ono 30% na prodaje US kupcima? Jeste ispunili to, meni nije ba najjasnije koji formular bih trebao i trebam li uopće. I znači li to da ću na payout od 100$ zapravo dobit samo 70$? :/
Trebao si poceti novi topic. Stose toga tice sve zemlje koje nemaju ugovor sa USA vladom placaju odreden procenat pogledaj na Shutterstock site koje zemlje i koliko moraju platiti. Ja zivim u Kanadi i nemoram platiti nista extra ali to kasnije platim ovdje kroz porez (?!?). Mislim da hrvatska treba da plati a to ti bolje mogu objasniti ovi sto zive tamo. Ja neznam koji ti obrazac treba. Sto se para tice ako drzava nema ugovor moras da platis taj porez PRIJE nego te oni isplate. Koliko vidim kroz forum to je oko 5-6% od zarade na Shutterstock. Shutterstock mi je najdraa agencija za sad jer se jedino tamo prodajem u ne-zanemarivim količinama, tj. nije slučajnost. Ali čitao sam dosta kako oni favoriziraju nove autore, pa nakon mjesec-dva prodaje jako-jako padnu. Jel to stvarno slučaj?
Vise manje tacno, ali ako nastavis dodavati files to i dalje ide (neki to zovu - FEED THE BEAST). Cak trenutno bas i ne dodajem dosta files i prodaja ne smanjuje. Trenutno dodajem 10-15 files sedmicno. To je do tebe da odlucis i napravis sebi plan. Drugo nemoj da se ravnas po drugima to ti nemora nista znaciti. Svako ima drugacije iskustvo. Kone

Naravno da nema.
Ma, mislio sam malo ire - na kojoj agenciji postiete najbolje rezultate, koji motivi vam prolaze najbolje, tako, razmjena iskustava i savjeta. 
Meni trenutno fotolia ide na ivce s ogromnom količinom odbijanja fotki, koje inače prolaze po drugim sajtovima. Portfolio fotaka jo nemam dovoljno velik da uspijem zaključit to ide, a to ne.
Ako te slike sto ti Fotolia vraca prodajes u drugim agencijama onda je to problem Fotolie ali ako se ne prodaju onda su oni upravu sto ti vracaju. Nemoj da te odbijanje brine, to se desava svakodnevno i na to ces se nauciti SAMO GURAJ NAPRIJED Moj savjet je: Probaj Shutterstock (ako vec nisi) i Istock, Fotolia To su tri koje mi donose 80% zarade U sustini ako ne zelis biti exclusive, (a i prije nego se odlucis za exclusive) trebao probati vise agencija da vidis koja ce da radi za tebe ali nemoj odlucivati nabrzinu nego upload (stavljaj) slike i vidi poslije godinu dana (mozda?!?) koja ti agencija najbolje odgovara. Moras malo i research da vidis koje slike se prodaju i u kojoj agenciji. To je najtezi dio posla ali poslije nekoliko godina znas otprilike koja ce se prodavati ali i dalje neznas zasto se prodaje. This is just a humourous musing, but something to think about:
With a new site seeming to pop up every week, I think the money to be made with these new sites is to register as many domains as possible with the word "photo" or "stock"in it and then just squat on those domains so you can sell the new upstarts the domain they want for a profit.
At 2.99 per .com domain you can get a pretty exhaustive list registered without breaking the bank.
You are too late with your idea There are people making businesses of it But on the other hand, microstock agencies are too cheep and I don't think they will pay more than $2.99 for domain Just my 2 cents Kone
