I remember Oringer saying once (maybe 3 years ago) something to the effect that they are a technology business vs their competitors (stock photo agencies).

Re the Red Carpet.... I don't really submit editorial (OR RC) so I didn't take much note of the announcement, but didn't they stop the SS Red Carpet program, or seriously alter it's restrictions a while back? Must have been while they were doing their due diligence since REX has a red carpet division.
Get back to work people. There was no glory for the Egyptian slaves that built the great pyramids either.

I've been selling some very old files. Viewing sales is like a walk down memory lane.

For starters - get screenshots of those Facebook posts and have them notarized before she is counseled to remove.
The lawsuit DOES seem like a big stretch. I wonder if this lawyer is the kind that takes all these cases that are unlikely to be proven in court. A company as big as Shutterstock certainly has a "nuisance fee" fund, a dollar amount they are willing to settle out-of-court. All the plaintiff's lawyer has to do is file some papers, make a couple of phone calls and it has the SS legal team in Manhattan quivering. They don't want bad publicity OR any kind of a precedent set so they settle behind doors. If the plaintiff's lawyer gets 30% of a $50,000 settlement - 15K isn't bad for filing some documents (in reality, paying his paralegal an hourly wage or a filing fee) and making a couple calls. Every time he gets his name in the press he gets 10 new clients - so his small investment of time has big dividends.
Are you and (Nancy Wolfe if I remember?) able to have a sit-down meeting with Jon, or a lawyer at SS?
Edited to add: Wow, this firm is really stepping out of their comfort zone with this case. They are known as a "DUI" and "Lead Paint" specialists. OMG, I have never heard of a law firm accepting credit cards and Paypal. Is that normal these days?
Quite a list of Defendants they have included! Whoa.

One of my resolutions was to drop a couple dead weight agencies, but they payout so far into the future I didn't want to cut the cord until they payouts arrive. Of course, since the payout button was pressed they are both selling again like they never have before. Sigh. I guess I'll jump back on the hamster wheel.

Even though DT - for me - was down almost 25% in 2014, it was still about 57% better than FT. Would have to slide a long way to fall to 3rd place.

1,1864 dollar for 1 Euro lowest in 9 years
This has a good effect on my USD earnings. Yay.
Not so good for my euro earnings!
Don't worry Elana, I read (National Post I think?) that oil may go as low as $40 and the bank of Canada thinks the dollar may drop to .75!

BORG, RUN!!! Why still there? You are good enough to get sales, but not good enough to compensate?

Surely the treatment of contributors will change? Fotolia will get someone from Adobe to overlook things? I dont think Adobe wants to deal with a backlash of contributors. Only evil company's dont care about bad word of mouth, question is, is Adobe an evil company?
If Oleg and the original crew are still going to run the FT show you can rest assured his first order of business (before he receives his big check) is to inform Adobe of all the ways that they can screw contributors. After all he is the king of that business model. So, my biggest worry for all of you (I am not with FT no moe) is how Oleg participates in the management of this. I suspect he will be on a retainer for a year or so during the transition and ultimately will phase out to go to Cuba to buy some more cigars. For whatever it's worth I hope something good comes out of this for you folks and does not end up another nail in the coffin of MS.
I doubt they will keep Oleg more than a year or even a few months. When sales are made the buyer always makes promises and brings the essential team onboard, keep the suppliers and buyers calm, soak as much knowledge out of them as possible then replace them with someone internal at a more reasonable salary. Of course the non-competes were signed upon the sale. We won't hear from Oleg again until the non-compete expires, in 2-5 years. I won't be running to sign up to his new agency though.

Why don't we just tell them what WE want, or they will have paid 800 mil for nada.

I guess that I too would rather sell one print for $6M than 18 million subs.

Where do we cash out? I can't even find my balance. I haven't looked or uploaded to the site in years but I know I had a balance of $13 in 2012 and even though I think I only had 40 photos there it may be more - I would rather have those earnings than abandon them. I never got the e-mail.

I guess my last thought is that they (Adobe) can't be bigger dickheads than the previous owners.
They paid $800,000,000/34,269,545=$23.34 per image to distribute. I am shocked.
Ya, didn't they know they coulda just got a free API

They will take it back, blame it on you and probably close your account
Why not blame it on you and close your account. Please don't hijack all FT topics with the same old rant.
Oh common, that was funny.

As of yesterday I was $3 over what I earned in November. Not that I'm having a great month, I hadn't had a month worse than Nov 2014 since December 2008.

Thanks for sharing Mantis.
Back to Peter Lik.... I don't think it's worth $6.5 M, but to be able to understand in any way you really have to see his work displayed. He prints on silver paper and mounts underneath a 1/2" sheet of plexi. They will take you into a viewing room and display a piece you may want, lowering and raising the lights - and just something about the way they are mounted that the photo appears to be going from sunrise to midday. We actually considered buying an aspen pine forest in fall (but then had a reality check).
Have to admit... I did catch myself walking around the gallery uttering... purple fringing... perspective distortion... grain....

You know how you have to sell 4 subs to get one credit towards next earnings level? That's pretty cheap, right? Did you also know that if you have a 100 credit sale they only give you 1 credit toward the next level? Pretty cheap, right?

Okay - I'm not terribly familiar with it, but I have to admit that when I stumble upon the site deviantart by accident I can get trapped spending hours there browsing art. But something about the design of the website caused me to never take the place seriously. Then today I see this article and watch the video http://www.creativebloq.com/logo-design/artists-respond-controversial-new-deviantart-logo-121413651. I think whoa, looks like they have really moved into the current era. Nope, revamped site still looks mid 1990's to me! Do any of our illustrators have work here? Is it more for "show" than to sell? I think I might have bought some fire brushes here in the distant past.
