General - Stock Video / Return per clip (RPC) for footage submitters?« on: May 12, 2015, 14:17 »
Hi all,
I'm wondering what is your RPC at SS/P5/VideoBlocks. (quick reminder: RPC is [monthly earnings]/[number of clips online].. and please, let's not discuss how "informative" this value is) I'd share my number first, but as I have just started with 4k timelapses, my RPC is actually 0. So, maybe to gauge some averages, to see which range of values one can expect. 328
General Stock Discussion / Re: How diverse are microstockers« on: April 21, 2015, 11:41 »What a rude and intrusive poll. My answer is that it's none of your business. So put me in there at a big fat $0.I would agree completely if there wasn't the "my wife" part. Anyway, I responded like some, only reporting my microstock income. My overall income is none of your business? 329
Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock's Top 10 Cameras« on: April 21, 2015, 05:37 »
I'm not sure how indicative this is.
I believe many pro contributors strip their exif data (I know I do, and I'm not a pro), so probably these percentages might not be too informative for an average full-time microstocker. But again, who knows. Maybe I'm in the small minority thats strips exif. 330
Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock raised image price by 20 cents. No raise for contributors?« on: April 21, 2015, 05:04 »I closed several accounts and started my own site selling direct. What about you?As a private individual, I have come to expect nothing of benefit to me from large publicly-owned corporations.....and, so far, I have not been disappointed. Every individual, whether employed or as freelance, has to work harder and harder for less and less reward to satisfy the demands of the stockholders for ever greater return. It's the way the system works and I'm used to it by now. With all do respect, if everyone thinks like that, you give them free hand to screw you over till you have no other choice then to pack up and find a day job. Any of the big earners, though? It's easy to close an account on an agency which is responsible for 1% of your income, how about 15%+ range? 331

I wish one agency would just say 'ok, we'll f*ck you over because capitalism/profit" and I'd have more respect for that rather than this carefully worded sh*t.

Symbiostock / Re: Introduction and an update on Symbiostock« on: March 24, 2015, 14:41 »I just wanted to let you know that marketing and driving sales to your media is a high priority, and we are building the entire system around a sustainable, growth oriented solution in that regard. I think that's the wording people from Stockfresh used when they started. Is anyone seeing any sales there? Huh. 336
Dreamstime.com / Re: I cannot find batch submission on DT« on: March 24, 2015, 14:39 »upload by ftp with iptc and pick 1 default category, easier than ft, marginally more hassle than ss but a dream compared to is Fotolia has batch processing (it's called indexing there). Aaaanyway, yeah, they're probably trying to reduce the "spam"/similar images and so on, cause I'm sure they have the technical capabilities to implement batch processing. They don't want to. Fine. I earn less there - they earn less from the content I could have provided. It's actually a loss-loss, but somehow in their heads it's probably a win-win. Too bad. 337
Adobe Stock / Re: Current EUR/USD rate bad for EU Fotolia contributors« on: March 19, 2015, 10:21 »FT is sealing much more in Europe than in US and they have more contributors from outside EU, being paid in dollars. Microstock Analytics / Re: Microstock Analytics - new pricing and new features« on: March 08, 2015, 14:05 »Microstock Analytics gets updated regulary. Supports 6 sites now. Alamy.com / Re: Alamy - is it worth the time and trouble?« on: February 24, 2015, 16:03 »
Nope.
If I could send them my hard drive with keyworded photos, so they process it and put it online, then I'd be happy to see what they can do in terms of sales. But uploading is currently a pain in the ass (I have just 200 images there) and I have no desire to continue to contribute there. 350
Envato / Re: Envato want to be a reseller and makes the contributor to the seller!?« on: February 24, 2015, 15:58 »2. Even on account closing, they don't pay out your balance unless it's over $50, so I'll watch my balance and open a support ticket at that point and they'll close my account for me. +1000 Well, time to e-mail Envato. They contribute only 2% to my overall earnings, it's not worth the hassle if they don't change things. |
