Symbiostock - Technical Support / My images are broken
« on: August 07, 2013, 01:17 »
Not sure what happened all was working well yesterday now when I click on an image either on my portfolio page and image category page comes up with 404 not found errors.  The only thing that seems to go to the image pages is on the front of my site under newest images.

I don't know if this is a temporary glitch or I've messed up royally.  Anyone had this happen and know how to fix it?

Let me know if you get the same error images.mddu.com

it seems to be adding this ?r=http://images.mddu.com to the end of the image url.  When I delete that part out of my address bar the image shows up.  I'm baffled because hovering over the image doesn't show that extra bit at the end only after I click on it does it show up.

Thanks.

Anita

Okay here's a silly css question.  Instead of overriding the bgnoise.png image this way:

background-image: url("");

Could it be done this way instead:

background-image: none;

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Privacy Policy Generator
« on: August 07, 2013, 00:03 »
Got it and I'll add it to my never ending to do list.  :P

I must be missing an override somewhere.  I'll search for that in the main css then override it in the child theme (as soon as I get out of the printing nightmare I've got going on).

Thanks Leo :)

YAY!  I just got a 0 on a weekday.

*bangs head on keyboard*

Either it's their search of my images have become irrelevant all of a sudden.

Forgive me for my complete ignorance but a privacy policy is a different thing than the EULA correct?

332
I'm not seeing anything speckled.  Then again my nice hd monitor died and I'm on this crappy square flat screen.  I took off all of the background images overriding them with the child theme.

Wonder what I could be missing?  Anyone else seeing speckles?

333
Thanks Leo.

Though I could've sworn that the background aside from the footer was in white or is it just the footer you're talking about?

Symbiostock - General / I think my site is missing something
« on: August 06, 2013, 22:17 »
Not sure what but I've been looking at other sites and how they look and it makes me feel like I'm missing something.  I know I need more upfront content as far as text goes and the footer is lacking but I'm looking for that punch that will draw buyers in.  The way it is it looks really blah.

Take a look and let me know what you think I need or what you think I could improve on.  images.mddu.com

Thanks.

Yeah spent about two hours earlier looking for examples on the forum.  Found one then modified it.  Course I could've sworn that there was a basic one and that it wasn't blank which I was wrong about.  So that's done now.

Now it's just a matter of time getting vectors and 3d images transferred from disks in wait to start working once I can purchase an upgrade from my host which will hopefully be tomorrow.

Still not happy with how my site looks but that's all about aesthetics and I'm extremely picky...probably too picky for my own good :p

336
Thanks that worked.

Now I just need to figure out why my EULA is blank :/

337
Unfortunately that didn't work.

I'll keep trying to figure it out on my own but still very open to suggestions.

Symbiostock - General / Making a page that shows all images?
« on: August 06, 2013, 13:42 »
Not sure how to go about doing that (gotta do something while I wait to actually really get started).

I couldn't find a widget that controls that so a point in the right direction would be most helpful.

Thanks.

Craptastical as normal  :-\

I'm also not very optimistic about an upswing after summer either.  This whole year so far has be bad.

Thank you!

Been driving me nuts for hours.  Suppose I could just spend some time tomorrow and make one to get that ready to go.  Right now I'm spent :p

Thanks again.

Symbiostock - General / How do I change this image on my site?
« on: August 06, 2013, 02:32 »
Very non-descript post title sorry.

Working on my site and I'm trying to figure out how to change the ladybug image that appears on my image page.  Can't seem to locate it in the main theme to override it in the child theme.

Or would it be because I haven't yet enabled networking?

Thanks :)

Pond5 / Re: Pond5: What should we improve?
« on: July 19, 2013, 22:57 »
Once they get the vectors set up for uploading I'll upload those.  Might continue to upload my 3d jpgs in August when I can get back online.

The P5 forums are a PITA pressing back doesn't just go back to a previous page goes back to the main forum.  So this forum is much easier also not everyone uses the P5 forums.

It would be nice to see this one grow as long as they let us keep making our own pricing decisions.  Please don't ever change that.

That maintenance is never for our benefit.  Not like they're going to do that then I get 10 EL's after they come back up :p

@Dan man I hope SS doesn't do that or head in that path then how many of us would leave there in droves?  And how many after that would replace us?  Most if not all of us knew that something was going to happen to the contributors once they went public and I think now we're feeling that effect now more than what we did the first few months.

I also know that's it's always going to be slow in the summer but it's slower than normal.  I don't even think that my numbers this year will be anywhere near last year.

I also agree that they don't care enough about the suppliers just their d**n bottom line.  And that's any of them.

This is the worst possible time for all of this crap on the sites to happen.  My family is in the worst possible situation out there and no one physically around us gives a crap we are basically on our own.

It's a completely frustrating situation that I hope none of you EVER have to deal with.

Everything is down this year.  It used to only take me 3-4 months to make payout this last one took over 6 months.

It's down everywhere.  It could be any combination of things but one fact is for me at least is buyers aren't buying like they used to.  * near flatlined.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Does Symbiostock track sales?
« on: July 16, 2013, 22:22 »
Instead of tracking it on the actual image page it could be implemented somewhere in the admin area or only shown on the image page if the person logged in has admin power and it would be hidden from the buyers.

Course also keeping a backup record on your own would be good as well just in case something goes wrong with the site and/or the database.

besides, Yuri leaving micros is clearly a sign of the times and the nail in the coffin.

Just a week ago I still saw his port on DP so he hasn't left them all entirely.  Only reason I know that is the monthly email and one of his images was featured.

Micro sure as hell isn't sustaining me right now.  No matter what I do no matter how many images I upload the return is extremely pitiful.

349
@cascoly I can pay month to month at the free host I'm at now for less than $5 for their basic plan but this year has been extremely tough on me and my family that I don't have two plug nickels to rub together to do the things "I" want/would like to do.  The families welfare is first above my own.  Which sucks but that's how it is for me right now :(

350
The only thing holding me back is the upfront cost of hosting and that's it.  Then it would be just a matter of self-reviewing, uploading, making the site look good and advertising (SEO stuff).

If it wasn't for that I'd already be up and running by now.
