OK another batch of these.

In more and more convinced there's AI "detecting" text.  In this exactly its a bridge (no graffiti, logos etc) looking towards a city (no TMs).

Its flagged for translation.  Looking at the image one of the pillars had water damage and paint flaking that could be confused for text on a cursory glance without looking in more closely.
Another image, identically framed but with that leg in shadow passed.

More idiocy though.  Editorial photos of busy billboards and signs at a shopping street in downtown Tokyo.  Rejected for translation required. Am i really expected to translate 40 billboards and roadsigns on editorial now?
Also editorial photos of crowds at a busy temple.  Again translation required presumably because the massive lantern at the end has symbols on it.  (which is the temples name).

If they are going to push this it rapidly becomes unworkable for editorial in particular as you cant edit it.  And im more convinced theres AI scanning for "text".

Oddly some near identical images of the temple with the same framing got through.

Cheers.
The FB groups have provided a treasure trove of infringement this week and i've got time to kill.

Ive just had that for a lighthouse now.  No text.

i just got one for a cobblestone path with potted flowers on the edges

Hmm.  Textured patterns and geometric shapes.

Wonder if its using bad AI to "recognise" text which it then cant understand.

Heres another rocket scientist on the group...

Posting a question about how long it takes to review images whilst showing thumbnails of stolen images.

Just 1 example, the Railay Beach image was uploaded by a Thai guy (makes sense) 2 years ago and reused by a few dodgy SS accounts.

Waterfalls photo in there first appeared on Twitter in 2017.

Tents and palm tree, freepik and Bigstock 2019.

Can anyone find this guys actual profile link?

How do you go about reporting infringement without being the copyright holder?  Email?

Someone is upset SS detected some of his AI images.

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/ANKON+KUMAR+SARKER

Interesting profile, a pink flower that looks clearly AI and a macro honey bee shot that looks totally out of place from the couple of terrible mobile snapshots making up the rest of it.

Im in UK and Adobe used to show the earnings in pound sterling and payments in pound sterling.....1 sales are now shown as 1 dollar sales so after conversion I receive about 75p as opposed to 1......about a 25% loss....

Then add on the Paypal conversion and its even worse.

And Adobe still charge *customers* in local currency for media and for software.  Good way of increasing revenue whilst cutting outgoings.

334
Those users don't know about licensing of copyrighted materials probably.  I don't think majority of users read disclaimer.

Suspect very few read it and even fewer care - its essentially unenforceable.

335
Its what image farms are desperate for - can completely eliminate the slow process of actually obtaining images and now its just a question of computing power and staff to do it.

Literally goes into a data processing as opposed to image creation task.

So holding onto assets to use down the line after a T&Cs change?

Or, cynically, using them anyway as i have no faith what-so-ever in SS these days.

Thats pretty bad - you submit and effectively hand over the rights and control of your image.  Thats a big change.

I think most of us opted out of this "earning opportunity" when the option first arose.  Sadly, SS knew this and used our data before offering opt out.

Looks to me now that the only actual rejections are those with legal issues such as releases, trademarks.  Everything else, rejected for any reason (which you'll now not know) ends up in the data set hive mind pool.

It does to me show SSs future direction and intent - its moving on from being a media agency into being a huge, vast data set company.  That's where it thinks the future lies - data not content.

338
That depends if its flagged as AI content or not.

If not, its not allowed.

339
Facebook spammed but interesting.

Is that even allowed?  GPT to Midjourney to upscale content and upload?

I cant find the guys portfolio but interested to see how much of his stuff is flagged as AI and how much is normal stock.

So you are also making ♾️/hour, according to the "Jensen logic"!
Lucky you!
 ;D

I enjoy taking photos and video.  So obviously today i was pleased to learn that instead of seeing monthly income drop off a cliff in the last 3 years im actually earning infinite amounts of money per hour and am richer than my wildest dreams.

Plus how does SS get the right to accept my images to the data catalog, but they actually have rejected them, and I have no control over them? I don't want a new home for rejects!
Opt out of data licensing in your account settings and your images will not be used for this, rejected or approved.

Of course, we could argue, cynically, that they already used our "good" images for AI training *before* offering the opt out and could well do the same with rejects.

For what I know Shutterstock never had any real and actually working strategy against keyword spamming. So their AI could get quite "distracted" by all thoose irellevant keywords, and end up as pure entertainment.

My experiments with Adobe Firefly lead me to believe this idea has some merit.

The FB groups, full of people that don't read emails and want spoon-feeding all get "accepted for data" and assuming their terrible snapshot is on sale.

Does SS actually reject anything these days?  I haven't had one for weeks.

344
Mat was very clear in the livestream that genAI images that were wrong in any way, or which included logos or other IP, should not be submitted. That's exactly what should happen, but it is not what is happening.

The inspectors are letting in thousands of nearly-real-but-hopelessly-wrong images every day (I've been monitoring in the past week). So contributors are submitting them and inspectors are approving them.

And this is just a very, very small sample...

Firstly thanks for highlighting a growing problem.  But secondly, thanks for providing me with a laugh first thing this morning with those images!

You can opt out of data sets so they dont get to use it.

Two of us here are underwater photographers and we spent a hilarious 5 hours laughing at the horrific species, previously unknown to science it invented when prompted for common creatures.

Bottle-nose Orca with penguin feet when prompted for "common dolphin" was one.  Literally an entire evenings entertainment as it failed to produce a single, remotely usable item.

Unions are by their very nature political and the second you get political you have disagreements and conflicts.

Its a non-starter.

My video sales are 70% below 2017...

Dropping from average of $38 to an average of $7 with some sales a few cents will do that.

They utterly demolished the video commission system and then made it even worse with the level system.

70% is roughly what i see as well.

True but don't rely on subs to build earnings, get more videos uploaded.

Which have been cut from an average RPD of $38.00 to an average of about $7.00 with some going for as low as $0.60.

Won't put the in this thread as it'll detail it but yesterday i decided to try with generative fill on my own images.

Summary:- we stayed up for 5 hours and haven't laughed as much in years.

Literally not a single suggestion worked for inserting specific animals, created some horrific species previously unknown to science.
