Hi I've been reading across all these pages in this thread and got a bittersweet flavor about facing the challenge to apply to Stocksy. I've been working hard for micros and now have a 50k portfolio with a worst income than 5-6 years ago with less than the half size portfolio. I reach a point where depresses me to dedicate so much time producing images for micros that will never again return benefits proportional to the energy and all the illusion that I have invested in creating them. I apply for Cavan at the very beginning where they test me along 3-4 weeks , and finally got accepted, nothing similar at today's day accepting process based in what I did read here. I feel a medium level photographer but with energy to work and the ability of keep growing my skills, but scares so much being rejected by Stocksy, it would be like a huge kick right there !
Since here there are contributors that have been accepted in Stocksy I would like them to upgrade if anything has change since the first conversations in this thread compared to today's days requirements or whatever info or feedback that could help me to get more probabilities to be unsuccessful with my test there.
I have some few images in Cavan and I should say that at the beginning of mi collaboration there I did hav good sales, but when the agency began to grow my 2 last submissions did not got any sales or maybe one. do you think this kind of imagery would be interesting for Stocksy or should be more risky? I link you to my portfolio in Cavan:

Thanks in advance for any replies
i think yes and no..they are good but they compete with present content in stocksy...i was rejected uploading mostly food photos and was rejected, but i think my content are up to the best i saw in stocksy about food and creativity, for me they want added something who is not in the collection....in addiction i think following some profile and seller that the level of there contribution is getting much lower in the last years...some big production are slowing down the processiong of creation of content....if they sold like hell why slow down the production? simply they probably are getting less money, stocksy is getting a bigger collection and like micro and alamy the bigger the collection the ess you earn.

fotolia by miles...and one question, anybody saw where has gone the credits sales? in january zero sales over 99 cents,..mostly 36 cent...lacking the quantity of ss sales this is getting pretty scaring, and this is happening near the timeline of the closing of fotolia, maybe adobe will become the new 123rf? hope not.

How do you tell where a sale is from?
I have noticed more .36 and .66 sales compared to .99 sales. Other values are very rare.
for me they are becoming the new shutter subs...in december i had a rpd where the 3,30 and 1,5 dollar was the rule a lot of 0,99 nd some 0,3---january apart the superslow level of sales most are 0,36 cent. considering the sudden death of canva, 2 weeks without a single download and 2 months without a 3,5 dollar commission, luckily only shutter stock seems recovering selling a lot this week included 3 video despite a portfolio of only 80 video.

what is unbelievable is that they reacted a lifestyle photo of a girl playing basketball because on the ball there was what look like a black stripe part of graffiti....they reject for potential copyright infringement..ahahaha...really the most stupid company in the universe...i wish every night the next q4 is appalling with 30% drop of stock ...but i know it's a dream.

Been doing stock since 2006. I am sure there are many old timers that still remember the time when high value sales were both regular and in high volumes. I remember the days of 20-30 or more EL sales at SS in a month, every month. Not anymore. I guess we are now in the period where we will have to accept whatever is coming our way or quit. I cant complain though - still doing quite well to make it worthwhile for me to continue. I like Canva and I always hoped that they will be able to fill that loss of the declining sales at the other agencies. For me this never really happened, possibly because I joined them relatively late. Based on what I see happening there now I cannot see that it will change anytime soon. They will remain one of my low earners and it frustrates me to see only those $0.35 sales. You may have better luck and a wish to all the success.
Some people probably remember the good old macrostock days (not me, I'm much newer than you)... The thing is simple - more and more people want to spend as little money as possible on the images, which is why the bigger sales on SS and other sites are in less numbers than before. So trying to raise the prices would be a suicide. That's the state of the market nowadays, we can't go around it. All what agencies and us can do is keep the current state and not allow any further devaluation.
So as I said, all what Canva did bad for us is the Getty deal. Their prices are not the problem, they fit perfectly into the current market, which is a must nowadays if you want to have any success.
Is it people looking to spend less and less? Or is it the agencies representing us that are competing with each other so much that they have decided to lower prices - the customer is still happy to pay whatever the price is for the image they want, it is the agencies that dictate the price, not the customers.
If there are less large sales on all the main agencies, lower prices or not, but people still spend the same, where do people spend that money now? Where did the big sales go? Or people really do spend less money now than before?
Behavior of the buyers plays a huge role in our earnings. If there were a higher prices since the beginning of microstock, that would be probably ok in the beginning, but would it be now? Why are some people so sure that the sales nowadays wouldn't drop even more with those higher prices?
Of course, I'm not saying let's drop the prices even more to make the buyers happy, I'm saying we should meet with the buyers in the optimal spot - the spot which will gives us the highest earnings. People who think raising prices 10x would do good for us are too emotional and delusional. Too bad that reality isn't better, but it is what it is, which is why microstock > macrostock.
less than this? what is 0,15 cent rrpd?

https://medium.com/unsplash/ive-been-sharing-my-photography-for-free-on-unsplash-for-the-past-4-years-here-s-what-i-found-7af80c8df39freally when i read this article makes me think how idiot those people are.... they give away for free those files and are amazed that they receive 1,7 million download for 460 files...1,7 million download!! and the quality is stocksy , they could have sold a lot much better....and this idiot is happy he had 3 4 gigs in two years who probably collected him less than 10k...considering he is a novice probably the bank contacted him because some agency quoted a big price for a gig and they requested him to do the work for a lot less money...and this pathetic idiot is even happy...a new era for photography...giving away everything and hope somebody contact them..they should ut in a big giant boat and abandoned in the open sea.

i agree.. in my opinion they should have raised the price even from beginning...1 dollar minimum was already to low for the time, considering before company spent 50 100 dollar for same usage. they could have asked 3 5 dollar aup...nowadays they are facing a big challenge, the big number of free images offered...if i browse unspalsh in most cases i found the quality more like stocksy than micro, more creative...and they are free! apart released file, but i suspect many don't care a dim in this world about using an unreleased file, customer now have the opportunity to save hundreds of dollar of extended licensed files, those that sold in the past in ss and made a month good or bad...who will spend 300 dollar for a landscape files? or food? or still life? when they can spend zero moose the tie for a better files? at this point i wish ss will lower those price of enhanced, better collect 10 15 dollar but re begin selling extend license at a pace that make a month good or bad...if i sell 20 extended at 15 is much better than zero at 79 or 100. but the race towards the bottom is unfortunately unstoppable. the only thing we can do is focus on quality and other way to sell. but again we are facing a big competition, in instagram everybody is a photographer and probably there are 100 200 million of potential professions, while the market can absorb probably not more than 50k. tough game.

i'm not talking about us i'am talking about the big photographer with photos sold in gallery for thousand of dollar which works is stolen by some indian idiot and resold in sss...i mean this is another level of problem...soon will have salgado work in ss? or the famous kiss of cartier bresson with a great description "jim and kelly loves to kiss in black and white"

55...ahhahaha...and the idiot still think this is a 10 people phenomenon.....ahahah...and expect thousand more since shutter stock offer contributor 20 different languages...100 dollar for poor people in third world county like india make a difference...and is not racism is the true unfortunately for them and us.
https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/in/Salem-Indianet salary in a 700000 people city of india is according to number near 290 dollar. is clear they do this.

i don't know if i am wrong or not, but ss in my opinion could face a jury trial for misconduct...if i find my images sold by some other contributor be sure i will see if i can move against ss...they are selling something against the rule and contracts i signed...for sure theft are going much further https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/elephant-forest-1211469475?src=BGwqzCGGTdSjRtcncjs-1g-6-39using such a famous and bestseller image is not like using a * snapshots of some unnow people in sss...i email david of this...who know if he react legally against ss...

agree with you is not only canvas but any agency...where those frequent sales n fotolia? 7,5 dollar royalty till november were very common for me...gone...canva i had at least 10 sales of 3,5 the first two month with 200 images only...ss i on't even talk about completely disappeared el, same stock. to earn 4 5 k dollar , the minimum to have a business income...now you need sell near 10000 images per month, that means at least 300 at day with this rpd. micro stock is going to be just a hobbyist business...i doubt even those big factory are making great profits nowadays considering their big cost.

34 cent rpd. speachless. not even 123rf.
Same here. Dropped a lot since September
i started 2018 with a 97 cent per download with big sales....now 0,34...bye bye istock. simply.

I stopped uploading new work completely. Too many 0.03 USD earnings. It`s a joke.
at the beginning they were very few...now they are the majority...is clear that as i said free images website and stolen images are impacting micro stock industry in a strong way. i am very curios to see the financial results of ss for the next quarter.

i completely agree.....i was skeptical but now no more. not worth even the bandwidth...i will focus only in rm this year and ss plus fotolia....i have even the impression that stock favors the exclusive artist in their algorithm.

I had 41 cent RPD, and 37% of the sales gave me 10 cents or less. Very bad
more than 60 per cent for me under 20 cent....i stop uploading anything to getty stock. not even worth the time and hassle. i will collect royalty of the portfolio i had but not bother anymore...15% without big sales is not worth any hassle.

i'm done with stock.. no increase despite the uploading...better leave the portfolio there and collect the same royalty...this month looks terrible. with 15% is totally useless to load.evn dreamstime looks better despite i have stopped uploading there since the last 2 years. time to focus only in ss as alamy and rm. i'm still on the fence to reuplaod in dreamstimedue to an increase of last month..

despite a better level of downloads the rperdown is appalling due to the 15% commission......totally a waste of time has begun to load here....at least first month of eps there were big sale to compensate for lower commission...now , like in every agency, bigger sale i mean more than 100 dollar are totallydisappeared. the fact that people can find whatever they want free clearly is impacting this business in a tremendous way.

begin in october, with less than 200 images i did 35 dollar october and noveber, than increasing the number of file, december started good than from 15 december till now completely dead...zero 3,50 dollar sales, i had near 5 per month in the first two month.....january so far 1 dollar 5 sales...don't know what to think but seems something is gonna happen...ok is a trend of all agency, worst january so far from 2006. the worst has to come in my opinion. less demand of files and a multitude of content uploaded the results are pretty clear a smaller cake for tons of people more. nothing surprising. time to focus in released model images and quality.
