Strange experiences... I uploaded 5 photos last week-end via http and nothing happened, so I uploaded them again later via ftp and it worked well... until 48h later, when I received messages of refused files because of similar photos already submitted! Some of them were accepted, some refused (for good reasons ) and some rejected for the above reason. Now everything seems to be ok, 3 accepted, 1 refused and still waiting for the verdict for the last one. Claude

I would go for the ball head because I think that it gives you more flexibility.
But if you plan to use it with a 100-400 lens, it may not be an option because of the weight of that lens. I used a Canon 28-300L few weeks ago and beleive me, it was heavy. Don't think that your choice from Amazon would do the job; it has a max load capacity of 5.6 lbs.

Excellent choice! But rumors are going on about a new model that would replace later this year the 30D... Check here: http://www.photographybay.com/2007/04/30/canon-40d-due-july-07/So, in my opinion, that means 2 things: 1. If you prefer the latest model, wait a few months; and 2. if you don't, then Canon will surely offer great deals on the 30D when they will announce the new model... so wait a few months! That's why I'm waiting to replace my own Rebel XT! Claude (edit to add the link)

My images are not appearing in search yet, approved just several hours ago so can't judge the response yet.
Welcome aboard! Not 100% sure but I think that the review process for your initial 10 is independant from the "regular" review process. In other words, you have to re-submit your photos in order to make them in available. I will check to make sure and I'll let you know Anyway, congratulations! Claude edit: No, no, no, I'm wrong! You don't have to re-submit at SS! Sorry!

I know it sounds weird but the actual model, in this case the original paper bag, is not art. Photography (or painting) of the object IS art... Claude

You can see the views if you click on "my images" on the left part of your screen. It will display a listing of your images.
And the 3 numbers are 1. number of downloads, 2 ? and 3. nb of comments for that photo.
Seems to me that the no2 is for $ for that photo but it is not. So does anybody knows the answer?

I was referring to downloading the picture and then going to the nearest print shop to print it. In fact, I did not realized that if you use an online print service they will sent it by mail... Claude

I just sold a printed copy of one of my photos on iStock. I did not realized that they were selling printed copies anymore... I wonder how it goes... They print the copy (by the way it's a 16x20 for a 8MP ) and send it by mail? I guess so but it seems a littlebit archaic! Claude

Maybe I missed something here, but on some of the photos on this site the watermark says "Raw Stock Image". Is Gecko the new name of RawStock? Claude

I didn't saw that one but I'm sur that I would have laughed a lot too! But I'm talking about people bashing each other and submitter(s?) banned from the site and so on... And why only on SS? Claude PS If someone has a link on what wysiwig_foto was talking about, I would appreciate...

Forgot to mention: just had my first EL on SS today! Glad I changed my mind about submitting to them Claude

Reading the forums on SS, I found them very "rough" lately... When I began on microstock sites last fall, that was the reason for which I did not submit to SS. Of course I changed my mind about submitting to SS, but I still find the forums ungainly (a new word from my Harrap's French-English dictionnary ). Of course I don't want to start another thread of that nature here but I want to know if I'm the only one uncomfortable with that! Claude

Seems that Corbis will sell also by subscriptions like SS, and at the same conditions (199$/month, max 25DL/Day). And for these subscription sales, seller will receive 0.30$.
But what I appreciate is that you may "opt out" the subscription sales for each single photo you upload.
That means that if you set a price of say 5$ for a photo, you may also opt out for the subscription for that photo.

FYI: Any photos taken using this new Press Pass system needs to be exclusive with SS.
Well if it's the price to pay to have access to places where you're not allowed without a press pass, I'll pay that price. Remember, ShutterStock doesn't require you to be exclusive, only those shots! Claude

I'm curious because I never get any responses.
You don't get responses from me because right after looking at one of your tutorials, I jump on Photoshop to try it! Keep posting, I really appreciate! Claude

These size statistics are largely irrelevant, or at least possibly misleading.
Well it all depends on what you do with these. For me and my photos, it says that for exemple, my sales at IS are well balanced. On the other hand, sales at FT are not so... Whitch leads me to ask myself why and try to find an answer (still looking for it!) Stats reflect what I've done so far, and I'm sure I can use these to improve my sales. Claude
