General Stock Discussion / Re: Have you ever been sued?

aaah the forum lawyer

30mb is not 30mp

a 30mp image could easily be under 30mb

high resolution images give you the opportunity to crop in different ways and still have enough pixels left for decent size images to submit to the agencies.

Nikon's 36mp camera gives you a lot of flexibility. but I find that 22.3mp is enough to play around with

also, if you have noisy 36mp images or soft images at 100%, you can reduce the size by 50%, and still have a sharp, noise free appearing image at 18mp

328
"I still like my crop sensor for "getting closer" to pictures at events, etc, though"

thats funny, because you can do the same with a full frame camera and just crop the photo, unless you use a 18mp crop sensor and need the full resolution image, then i can see the point

329
i dont like the composition on most of them

i just pointed towards those black images in  my previous comment.

332
an image sold 6 times across 2 agencies in 3 months and thats your best seller?

if the image has not taken off by now, and doesnt sell daily, dont leave your day job just yet

honestly, dont waste more time on this business.

black is the new colorful

haha

and then the similar images, all the same black gradient, unbelievable that this gets through without help on the inside, or it has to be a machine

which reviewer lets through a black image with the title colorful ?

General Stock Discussion / Re: I doubt paypal now
« on: March 15, 2017, 10:54 »
if anything changed, its either a bug/mistake or change of exchange rates. what currency did you get paid in? i have a dollar account, but any foreign amount paid will sit in the foreign balance, the dollar balance is updated based on the current exchange rate, if the foreign exchange rate changes, then the dollar amount reflects that change

i highly doubt paypal skimming off cents to line their pockets

i didn't request anything. just wanted to understand your reasoning.

why are you so adamant on warning/helping/educating newbies? i never understood the self destructing practice of photographers helping competition, which includes myself at times.

its like coca cola helping cott how to make cola

anyway, only those 3 tips?

1. doesnt make sense, i shoot holiday snaps with my DLSR
2. obviously
3. what is a ton of money? you need a good camera and quality lenses at the minimum. its a business, you need to invest to start out.

how do they both get the model releases?

344
agree, your instagram feed is much better, just watch your tilted horizons, they need to be horizontal

345
why would anyone buy your holiday photos? and if there is one category thats over saturated its travel

your holidays snaps probably wont have commercial value, you only have 100 images, they are average, and then consider competing against 100 million other images,

its somewhat comforting to read that people new to the business are struggling though, maybe we finally have reached a saturation point, where people like you give up after 3 months. maybe we are at a point that we can start working towards our balance getting restored. and sales improve again for us who have been in the business for decades

sorry to be harsh, but for me its a living, i could do with less competition

but now i see clip sales of 4 dollar

349

I just had a quick look at "new" images on love ...the algorithm is returning way too many similars  dozens of a girl in a kitchen (59!)  and there is some questionable relevance. I'm not a buyer but I would not find that much use at all

i actually did the same and fully agree with pauws99 on this subject
